1974 Toyota Landcruiser on 2040-cars
Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, United States
Thank you for looking at my FJ40. I have owned this truck for 17 years, and have many fond memories in it. As I have grown older my priorities have changed, and I find that I no longer use the truck as it should be used. I realize that buying anything over the internet is a risky thing to do, so I will try to be as honest as possible about the condition of the truck. It is my goal that if you buy it, you have no surprises as to what you purchased.
All of the mechanical updating was performed by professionals, and was done over ten years ago. Since then I have put maybe 5,000 miles on the truck. -Rebuilt Head(Up and Over Innovations) 2001 -Webber Performance Carburetor (SOR) 2001 -Performance Camshaft (SOR) 2001 -Performance Header (SOR) 2001 -Full custom Exhaust (Mighty Muffler) 2001 -Rebuilt Transmission /4 Speed (Up and Over Innovations) 2001 -Rebuilt Transfer Case (Up and Over Innovations) 2001 -Brakes Redone (New Wheel Cylinders & Pads) 2014 -Truck Completely Rewired (Keystone Electric) 2001 -Recaro seats that were 2,000 when new -Stereo with older amp and 2 subwoofer speaker boxes (sub speakers are blown) -Stereo has CD/AUX input and 4 speakers -New Front Fenders and Bib (2001) -Newer Alternator and Belts (2005) -Newer Master and Slave Cylinders (2005) -New Clutch (SOR) 2012 -Mickey Thompson Classic 2 Aluminum Rims -Tan Soft Top and Doors (SOR) 2001
The Body was Redone in 1982, and an all aluminum floor was installed. It is from the front floor in the cab to the rear of the truck, it was done professionally and the welds are nice. The body panels were then bolted to the Aluminum floor because you cannot weld two different metals. The body panels will need to be replaced (rocker, quarter panel, rear sill). What is on the body panels of the tub is bondo, and it is beginning to rust and crack. The Hood of the truck also has small dents and two spots in the front that appear to be rusted, but are actually a crack in the metal. The windshield is rusted on the inner bottom and will need to be replaced. I say need to be replaced meaning that if you want a show truck they are too far gone, but they are fine for a driver. The steering wheel has play due to the steering box needing replacement. The frame as you can see from the pictures is in fairly good shape. The bottom of the main frame rail on the left side forward of the leaf spring was rusted out, and a patch of metal was installed. You can also see that the bottom of the main channels have had rust in them at some time as they are raised, and not flat as they would have been from the factory. Tires are starting to show slight Dry-Rot cracking in between tread, tread is 90%. The truck is mechanically very strong and has never given me any problems. The motor runs great and performs well. I honestly would not hesitate to drive the truck anywhere. If you have any questions please ask. Like I said, I don’t really need to sell the truck, and honestly want the buyer to be happy and know what they are getting. |

2015 Toyota Sienna
Thu, 25 Sep 2014It's hard to love a minivan, but it's very, very easy to use one. More than any other kind of vehicle - save a panel van, perhaps - the minivan is the most appliance-like of four-wheeled transportation devices. And most minivan buyers don't need to love their purchases; they just need to use them. So when it comes to a minivan's driving dynamics, who cares?
Well, we do. So we perked right up when Toyota talked about refinements it made to the 2015 Sienna, starting with some 142 added spot welds made to the body structure. Normally not stop-the-presses stuff, but Toyota says the added reinforcements prompted Sienna engineers to recalibrate the springs and shocks for improved handling, and our very limited wheel time along the (admittedly benign) roads on the Big Island of Hawaii revealed the 2015 Sienna SE model's handling to be tidier and more engaging than you'd expect for a porky, 4,560-pound, eight-passenger box on wheels.

Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007
Sat, 21 Sep 2013Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV Rally Car To Compete, Barra bullish on Chevy Volt
Fri, Oct 31 2014The Toyota FCV will compete in the last stage of the 2014 Japanese Rally Championship. The sport-tuned hydrogen-powered car will tackle the 177-mile Shinshiro Rally on November 1 and 2, emitting no greenhouse gases in the process. The rally course will help prove the safety of the vehicle before it goes on sale in Japan in the next several months. The Toyota FCV, rumored to be called "Mirai" in Japan, will begin sales there before April, according to Toyota, and in the summer in the US and Europe. Read more in the press release below. Carsharing is becoming more popular, and more visible, throughout the world, including the US. According to WardsAuto columnist John McElroy, 18 percent of US drivers have used some sort of carsharing service. Additionally, he says 60 percent of Americans are familiar with Zipcar and Uber. Mercedes' Harald Kroeger says promotions like free parking for carshares in Stuttgart are encouraging growth for Daimler's carsharing service, Car2go. Read more at WardsAuto. Ethanol is being help up by rail transport, according to ethanol producer Green Plains. More and more stations are carrying E15 blend gasoline, but grain producers have complained that crude oil is given higher priority by the rail lines shipping it, which rail companies deny. Union Pacific and BNSF Railway say they are stepping up service to make sure that ethanol can be shipped reliably to customers. Read more at Omaha World-Herald. General Motors "has placed a significant bet [on] the electrification of the automobile," says CEO Mary Barra. In a speech to the Detroit Economic Club this week, she spoke about the Chevrolet Volt, and its importance to GM's future. While Barra admits the Volt's success has been "not everything we wanted," it has provided experience, and shows that EVs have "an important role in the future of GM." The new Volt is more refined, stores more energy, has longer range, uses less fuel and is a big investment for Michigan. She announced that the new Volt's electric drive system will be built in Warren, and that all of its major components will be made in Michigan. "Silicon Valley doesn't have a corner on the market for innovation, creativity and drive," says Barra. "These qualities exist here – in this region – as well."
