Toyota Land Cruiser restoration shop offers this 1974 FJ40. I received this truck as a trade in on a mint original 40. The previous owner did a lot of good work to it, I’m offering it as a running/driving mild project vehicle. I had my tech go over it, I’ll describe the condition below. I added some parts to make this vehicle more complete, I briefly drove this truck, but did not rebuild the entire thing. I wanted to keep this truck budget minded for an enthusiast that wants to do mild tinkering. This is a NO RESERVE auction, bid to buy! Direct link to 74 pictures http://s953.photobucket.com/user/fj40man79/library/1974%20Tan%20Wenatchee MECHANICAL The motor is a healthy small block Chevy with HEI ignition, 4 barrel carb, FJ40 over the fender headers, power steering pump. The power steering needs to be completed, there are some parts included, but will need additional items to be completed. Motor is strong, Flowmaster or type muffler, it’s loud. New clutch, complete front end rebuild, brake rebuild with motor all done 4 years ago. 3 speed transmission shift well, 4wd works. 95% tread BFG 33/12.5/15 all terrains on steel wheels. BODY This is a solid body FJ40. No serious rot. I think there may be a little above the tail lights as always. The floors and doors are excellent. Mediocre paint job several years ago. Fiberglass hood. Frame and suspension look good. No evidence of any wreck, overall a great foundation. MY OPINION This is a great start, expensive items in place. Good enough to run/drive on/off trailer or down the street, not good enough for interstate travel. Needs tinkering. The body is in excellent shape speaking FJ40. I’m letting this one go no reserve, this is a worthy project, these trucks are worth big dollars restored. I will have 4-6 FJ40’s for sale on eBay right now or coming up soon, keep watching! I require a $500 non-refundable deposit immediately after auction conclusion. The rest wire transfer or cashier’s check within 5 days closed auction. I hold a clear clean WA state title in hand for this truck. I welcome 3rd party inspections during the auction, winning is not 1st chance to look. I own Auto Appraisals & Pre-Buy Inspections so skip me in the phone book. I have a shipping broker whom I trust, will pass his info to you, he only does lower 48, I can get this to Alaska Hawaii or other countries as well. Payment will be made to my business. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time for any reason, I will consider serious offers. Fj 40 landcruiser fj45 bj42 bj44 fj-40 |

Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
Toyota working on cars that hover above the roadway
Wed, 11 Jun 2014Toyota is one of the largest automakers in the world, but it's not content simply building and selling conventional cars - it's been at the forefront of numerous advancements in ground transportation. It is widely credited with advancing the cause of hybrid propulsion, and alongside Audi and Google, is among the first automakers seriously testing self-driving cars. We could go on, but the news here is that Toyota is reportedly developing vehicles that hover above the road surface instead of rolling along it.
The news comes from Hiroyoshi Yoshiki, one of Toyota's tech gurus, who revealed at Bloomberg's Next Big Thing summer in San Francisco that the company is working on hovering cars - ones that travel just above the road surface, but don't actually fly in three-dimension space.
According to The Verge, a spin-off of our own sister-site Engadget, Yoshiki refused to elaborate on what the project entails and how far along it is. He was speaking along acting NHTSA chief David Friedman, who lauded such advancements as a "great taste of innovations to come," but stressed the significance of more concrete improvements to conventional automobiles - like inter-car communications to keep vehicles from colliding on the highway - as more relevant to today's industry.
Average transaction prices climb to a record $36,270 in January
Sat, Feb 3 2018The automotive sector made a hash of the numbers last month, a mess of pluses and minuses clogging the transaction-price charts according to Kelley Blue Book. The overall industry rose one percent, even though buyers bought fewer cars and light vehicles in January 2018 vs 2017 using the selling-day adjusted rate. Due to January transaction prices rising to $36,270, a record for January, the value of new vehicles sold climbed more than $1 billion compared to January 2017. KBB's transaction prices don't include customer incentives, which changes the complexion slightly; average incentive spending rose to just over ten percent. The average transaction price in December 2017 was $36,756, so January dropped a bit - nothing unexpected, with the month annually blamed for "January doldrums." More revealing is the fact that the average transaction price in January 2017 was $34,910. This year's plumped-up figure came courtesy of the continued shift to crossovers, SUVs, and light trucks, which shouldn't surprise anyone who's read an automotive blog in the past 20 years. That category comprised nearly 70 percent of new vehicle sales for the month. Some manufacturers profited more than others, though. Fiat Chrysler managed 12.8 percent fewer sales in January compared year-on-year, but the company's vehicles sold for $1,300 more. The Ford brand suffered a 6.3-percent dip in sales, but brand transaction prices increased $2,000, while a Lincoln sold for $8,700 more on average. General Motors sold more cars and sold them for more money; overall GM transaction prices rose four percent, or $1,270, while a GMC traded hands for seven-percent more than in January 2017 and a Cadillac got $2,300 more on average. Of KBB's listed automakers, the Volkswagen Group got the most of out its customers, transaction prices rising at the German automaker by 5.6 percent to $42,243 in January 2018 compared to a year earlier. American Honda followed with a 4.3-percent increase to $28,991, GM in third at 4.1 percent to $40,313. Find your next car at Autoblog using our new and used car listings or the Car Finder tool. Broken out by segment, minivans rocked the table, transaction prices leaping by 7.9 percent to $35,380 compared to January a year earlier. Luxury cars boasted the next-highest rise, at 3.6 percent to $58,533.
