Up For Sale is my 2004 Toyota LandCruiser as pictured, first off its obviously going to need front end work as the headlights are smooshed, the hood was bent up a little, grille still looks ok but I am sure that it has damage somewhere, front bumper cover is damaged, basically figure it needs some attention up front and the hit was hard enough to blow out the driver and passenger airbags. Headlights, grille are not attached and just sitting in place and front bumper has a makeshift attachment. We pulled the damaged area back and drove the truck home, a piece off the air intake broke off (can probably be reattached) and the hole is taped up. So it runs and drives fine, engine sounds like brand new. These cars are built like tanks and this one is no exception, and with 327,000 it is a testiment to Toyota build quality. As stated it starts, runs and drives fine. Tires are ok, but mismatched so they will need to be replaced. It is missing 2 centercaps. Damage is limited to the front end and air bags. Otherwise the truck is clean, rear bumper has some paint peel but is hard to notice since the paint is black and the cover is black (see picture). This thing is loaded up with everything you will need in a luxury SUV including Navigation, backup camera, leather, 3rd row seating, sunroof, etc. Interior is very nice, driver seat has a very minor seam tear (pictured) but you have to look close to see it and it can easily be fixed. It has a clear title as the accident was not claimed. I would recommend only transporting this as it has only one good headlight and that one is just sitting in there and is not able to be attached to the truck. PLEASE email me with any questions, I will be glad to help in any way. Payment needs to be in person, cash only please and the title will then be given. No Paypal, sorry. The Landcruiser is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking.

Toyota says you might have the 40-millionth Corolla ever built
Sat, 07 Sep 2013The guy who bought the 50-millionth Toyota in the US got a free Camry and RAV4, but whoever in the world bought the 40-millionth Corolla in August gets a hearty "thank you" from the Japanese automaker. On sale since 1966, the Corolla is the best-selling nameplate in the world by a goodly margin (more than the Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Model T combined). So while you'd think that vehicle number 40 million would be sitting in a museum somewhere, Toyota can't even say in which country this milestone Corolla was sold, let alone to which customer.
One reason that Toyota is unsure where this Corolla was sold is the fact that the Corolla name itself is more than just the compact sedan sold in the US. On our shores alone, sales of the Matrix are lumped in with the Corolla, but around the world, numerous vehicles wear the Corolla name or share its platform. Scroll down for Toyota's press release, and it has also put together a website celebrating 47 years and 40 million sales for the Corolla... and counting.
Toyota nears $40B cash reserve as calls grow for new investment, payouts
Wed, 05 Feb 2014With the April 15 tax deadline just a few months away, our US readers will be faced with a decision should they get a refund: save or spend? It seems this issue is one many of us face whenever there's a windfall, trying to decide whether we should set the money aside in an account of some sort or use it as a down payment on a new car or a trip to the Apple store. Unsurprisingly, major corporations face a similar, albeit more complex, issue.
Take Toyota, for example. With President Akio Toyoda at the helm, the Japanese manufacturer has gracefully weathered recalls and natural disasters, all while turning beaucoup profits. Last quarter, profits quintupled to 434.4-billion yen ($4.3-billion USD), according to Bloomberg. Toyota also upped its forecast for the end of fiscal year 2013 (which ends on March 31 for Japan), to a record 1.9-trillion yen (about $18.8 billion). Now, the Japanese brand is reportedly sitting on a cash pile of nearly $40 billion, leaving Toyoda-san in an envious predicament - what should the company do with all that money?
Some think Toyota should be doing something, anything with that big stack of cash.
Toyota R&D shows off free piston engine linear generator for future EVs
Thu, May 1 2014We often hear how an electric vehicle powertrain architecture allows vehicle designers much more freedom than a traditional ICE powertrain does. With differently shaped battery modules and small electric motors, there are lots of way to put the pieces together. With today's plug-in hybrid technology, engineers still need to put a decent-sized ICE somewhere, but new technology from Toyota could free up the gas-electric vehicle designers of the future. Presented at the recent SAE World Congress in Detroit, the idea from Toyota Central R&D Labs Inc. and involves what is called a Free Piston Engine Linear Generator (FPEG). Think of it as a sort of one-cylinder, two-stroke mini-engine that can work either as a generator (thank to magnets and a linear coil) or to directly drive a vehicle. The current prototype is a 10-kW unit that Toyota say would provide enough power to get a B- or C-segment electric vehicle up to highway speeds (75 miles per hour) when paired up to offer 20 kW. Pairing the FPEGs is also important to minimize vibrations. One system tested by Toyota had a 42 percent thermal efficiency, but the engineers are working to improve the overall efficiency even further. You can watch an animated video of the piston in action here (click on "Outline") and see the SAE papers here and here. More technical details are available at Green Car Congress.
