This is a 1990 Toyota with only 90k original miles, the car starts and runs well.  I bought the car a year ago and put 15k miles on it, but have since obtained a newer car that was left to me.  I have no use for this car anymore though it is a good little car. The car starts right up and runs well.  It is a 23 year old car and by no means is it perfect but it starts and runs and has low miles for a Toyota.  The only bad that I am aware of is there is no headliner in the car because it was hanging down and I could not see out the back window so I pulled the whole thing out. There is a door handle in the back seat that works but is missing a piece of the plastic so it needs to be pulled on an angle to open the door.  Finally if you start it and shut it off several times right away it starts to flood.  Maybe thats just normal since there is no need to do this, but I had someone look at the car and started it and shut it off 5 times in a row and it became harder to start and I smelled gas. I don't think this is actually an issue but I wanted to mention it to be thorough.  I am sure there are things that I am missing, but that is the main gist of things.  The car is a good running Toyota that should get another 100k or more.  Remember this is a 23 year old car and shows some wear and tear.  It is a good first car, or back up car or daily driver that you just want as a work horse.  I am informing you of everything that I am aware of.  I really need the space and the money more then the car. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. This is a re-list since the last winner backed out after not asking questions about payment plans ahead of time.  By the way I do not accept payment plans but I am sure most people know that.  A/C works well, recent tune up, tires have 50% or greater wear left, good alignment, stereo works well, no cracks in glass, no accidents or rust, please review the pictures.  It is a car that has spent its life in California and Arizona and has no problems with rust on the surface or otherwise.  Thank you for looking.

Toyota may return to F1 under Lexus banner

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

A new report in from the website Club Lexus claims to have insider knowledge about a return to Formula One racing by Toyota, this time under the auspices of the Lexus brand. Toyota competed in F1 from 2002 through the 2009 season. That final year saw the team return competitive, if inconsistent results, but the larger economic woes in the automotive market made a decision to pull the plug relatively easy at the time.
Now, citing recent interviews with Toyota executives and insider sources, Club Lexus says that the move to re-enter F1 for the 2014 season is "all but finalized." The choice to go with the Lexus nameplate over Toyota makes some sense, too, considering the success that rival Infiniti has had in recent years through its partnership with Red Bull Racing. Further, the emerging Lexus identity as a performance car builder, with a strong background in hybrid vehicles, could help the F1 move resonate with buyers.
A few technological factors and formula changes within F1 offer some credence to the Lexus rumor, too. F1 will increase the available capacity of KERS from 60kW to 120kW, a change that theoretically benefits the hybrid-savvy Toyota. What's more, 2014 will see a switch from the current 2.4-liter V8 engines to 1.6-liter turbocharged V6s. A Lexus team that goes racing in 2014 will be on a level playing field with the rest of the grid then, with all teams adjusting to and continuing to develop the new engines.

In Jamaica, it's not easy to sell or buy hybrid cars

Wed, Jan 15 2014

Jamaica's mellow reputation and Rasta vibe contributes to an international reputation of an island nation that moves at a leisurely pace. And the term "leisurely" certainly applies to the rate of sales of hybrids there. And we thought Mitsubishi i sales in the US have been slow. The country's Toyota dealership is still in the process of explaining hybrid technology to many of its prospective customers, with the widespread perception remains that a standard Toyota Prius needs to be plugged in for electrical charging, the Jamaica Gleaner reports. Because of such slow exposure, Toyota has only sold about 10 hybrids in Jamaica since the Japanese automaker started selling them there in 2010. And we thought Mitsubishi i sales in the US have been slow. Toyota dealers in Jamaica continue to tout hybrid technology that can boost fuel economy by about 30 percent but are going up against the fact that Toyota's hybrids now need to be pre-ordered and aren't kept in stock because of sluggish demand. There's also the fact that Toyota's Japanese operations insist on an approval process that ensures the hybrids sent there can handle Jamaica's road conditions, and it typically takes three to four months for a Prius to get to Jamaica once ordered. Island locales provide a curious dichotomy for advanced-powertrain vehicles. On one hand, the driving distances tend to be relatively small, lengthening the amount of time it takes to pay back the original cost premium. On the flip side, importing fuel to islands makes gas prices skyrocket and can prove costly for the economy in island nations. Late last year, for instance, the government of another Caribbean nation, Barbados, estimated it spends about $250 million a year on gas used for personal vehicles. That's why the government there is pushing for more electric-vehicle adoption, though the number of EVs on the island was in the low double-digits as of mid-2013.

Toyota announces two recalls affecting 1M Corolla, Matrix and Lexus IS models

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

The recall bug strikes Toyota again. The automaker has issued a voluntary recall of three models that, in total, represent more than one million units. Around 752,000 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla and Matrix models are being recalled for airbag concerns, while a windshield wiper issue is causing the recall for close to 270,000 Lexus IS sedans from the 2006-2012 model years.
Completely unrelated to the small airbag-related recall issued earlier in the week, the Corolla and Matrix recall is caused by a faulty airbag control module that could potentially short circuit, which could lead to the front airbags or seat belt pretensioners deploying. The Lexus recall is due to a wiper arm nut that wasn't tightened properly, which can cause the wipers to not work when trying to clear heavy buildup such as snow.
Scroll down for a press release that includes more information, as well as details about how owners can contact the manufacturer directly.
