This is an excellent little car with a lot of life left in it. Please look closely at the pictures and ask all questions prior to bidding. This is a 1990 Toyota Corolla with just over 92k original miles on it. No accidents, no issues with driving it down the road or just about anywhere. Engine is strong, clutch is strong, tires have decent life left as well. I bought the car a few years back with 77k miles on it and got my use out of it. Unfortunately the family members that I would give it to have a problem with a stick shift so it goes on the auction block.
The Good: Low relative miles, strong engine, you can drive it away and drive it anywhere, as far as I can tell I would drive the car without any concerns anywhere in the country and I actually still drive it periodically now. If it does not sell I will keep dumping miles on it as I am confident it will go at least another 100k miles. Of course being that it is a used 24 year old car I can not guarantee anything, but I feel the car will last and you will be able to hear that when you listen to it running. The bad: All cosmetic; missing headliner, various trim pieces inside the car are either missing or in fair shape. The items that are missing you can see in the pictures and some like trim pieces I have, they are just not attached. Also when I put in the radio I apparently shorted out the running lights so I had to connect a separate switch to turn on and off the running lights. It is missing one hubcap. That is about all unless you can see it in the pictures. Please please please look at this pictures closely and ask questions if you have any before bidding. This is an ad to purchase the vehicle, you are not winning the right to look at it and decide later (I had someone do that to me once saying he didn't like the color and was choosing not to buy a car after outbidding numerous other people). This car is excellent transportation at a very low price. I am not asking a lot of money for the car because I am hoping it will go to someone that really needs a reliable car and does not care that the headliner is missing or that the interior is a bit worn. If you want a car that will last and make it back and forth to work with good reliability this is your car. |

How Toyota's Le Mans racer may make its next Prius even better
Fri, Jun 20 2014The supercapacitor technology in the Toyota TS040 "offers great possibility for production car use." – Amanda Rice, Toyota Pop-culture junkies familiar with 1980s touchstone movies will hear the word "capacitor" and think Back to the Future. But the concept of supercapacitors being used in upcoming production models is being pushed by Toyota, not DeLorean. And because of that push, the future might look a little brighter for the Prius. The Japanese automaker will likely apply electric-motor technology used in Toyota's 24 Hours of Le Mans entry – the TS040 – in future versions of the world's best-selling hybrid, Australian publication Drive.com.au says, citing an interview with Toyota Motor Sports' Yoshiaki Kinoshita. Specifically, the racecar uses supercapacitors because they're effective at storing energy created when the vehicle is under braking, only to quickly redistribute it on demand for rapid acceleration. Kinoshita said Toyota may apply this technology to the Prius within the next five years. While declining to comment on specifics, Toyota spokeswoman Amanda Rice tells AutoblogGreen that the Le Mans vehicle "represents an advanced vehicle laboratory for hybrid vehicle and component development. The supercapacitor technology used in this vehicle with its fast charge and discharge capability offers great possibility for production car use." In her email, Rice added that the next-generation Prius will have smaller electric motors with greater power density and thermal efficiency, so let's add that to what we know or think we know about the fourth-generation model. Toyota entered two vehicles in this year's Le Mans race, and one of them had secured the pole-position and was leading much of the race before calling it quits 15 hours in because of electrical issues. Audi ended up winning the race, marking its 13th victory in the history of the French endurance contest.
Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes
Thu, 12 Jun 2014It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
