This is my coveted 1987 Corolla FX GT-Z model. I bought it in 2009 and have put just over 20k miles on it and have invested about $12,000 in mods, maintenence and customization.

When i bought it in '09 the only mods were the engine and transmission swap. I have built this car specifically as a both track and streetable vehicle, perfect for Laguna Seca!!!

Car is SMOG/BAR legal in California!!! The header is custom but it still blows clean with the cat and all, if visual is a problem for you i have a local guy and can smog it for you so you wont have to worry. Car is fully legal everywhere else.

1987 Toyota Corolla FX-16 GT-S model
CARB legal supercharged 4AGZE engine from an '88 MR2
6 speed C160 transmission from a 2002 Celica GT-S

Ready to go to the track or daily!!! This car is built and geared for Laguna Seca!!!
All mods are JDM or Custom Made

-replaced clutch with upgrade and custom machined flywheel
-extended front wheel studs using oem toyota studs for older toyota truck

-tune up with new plugs, wires, cap and rotor 2/12
-on time oil changes with AMSOIL or LubroMolly only!!!
-rear hatch when damaged when i purchased it, i tracked down a replacement hatch in the same color!!! very lucky, though the replacement was not a GT-S model, GT-S factory wing can be included
-new timing belt, timing belt cover, front main seal and passenger wheel bearing 12/12!!!

Mods and upgrades since '09:

Things it could still use:

-Has a slow leak from the transmission
-could use new bushings all around
-Took off rear fender flares, originals are in good condition and are included in any sale of the vehicle.

This car is now a CLASSIC at 26 years old! It starts every time, runs great, and is my daily driver at the moment, but as any older car it could still use some TLC as it is not completely restored. I have spent lots of time and money on the major things of this vehicle, all that really remains are details. Unless mentioned above all other parts are original. There are some paint blemishes, small dings and scratches to be expected after 26 years, etc. I drive this car on the freeway in california traffic and have no doubt it is ready to drive cross country tomorrow. The car is almost unbelieveably quick for how much power it has, the engine is rated at only 145hp but this thing is so light it feels like twice that. This car pisses off lots of newer car owners since they cant leave it in the dust. If you are not familiar with track worthy cars please be warned, the ride is rough on normal rides due to the stiff suspension and wheel/tire combo.

Asking $6200 OBO. serious offers only, no joyrides without cash in hand.

I will take off $800 if you do not want the BBS rims, in which case i will put brand new tires on the steelies so that it is ready to drive cross country.

I will take off an additional $400 if you do not want the extras listed above, $1200 off if you dont want those or the rims.

So without the BBS rims and extras i am willing to start at $5k OBO!!!

$500 non-refundable deposit via Paypal is due within 24 hours of winning. Full payment is due within 1 week of winning, cash is preferred. If you wish to pay with cashiers check, money order, etc you will have to come spend time and go to the bank with me to make sure it clears and all.

I am of course willing to work with any shipper you need, or i can also pick you up at the Oakland Airport free of charge. Please remember full payment is due in 1 week, this means a short notice plane ticket on your part if you are not close!

Cheers!

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."

Recharge Wrap-up: Nissan "religious" about zero-emissions, Tesla crashes at dealership, Formula E on-board video

Wed, Jul 16 2014

Nissan is pretty darn serious about being king of the EV industry. Just see what Chief Planning Officer Andy Palmer has to say at the launch of the e-NV200: "When it comes to zero emissions, we're absolutely religious. We'll be the absolute, No. 1 leader in zero emissions. No doubt. That's our positioning." Bold words, to be sure. Toyota, on the other hand, ended its collaboration with Tesla (whom Nissan mustn't forget about in its quest to reign supreme in the EV world) to build the RAV4 EV, and will focus instead on hybrids and testing the waters with hydrogen cars. Says Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America, "I would rather invest my dollars in fuel cell development than in another 2,500 EVs." Read more at Automotive News or Autoweek. To celebrate 25 years of TDI technology, Audi is releasing the A7 Sportback 3.0 TDI Competition special edition in Europe. The Competition uses Audi's biturbocharged, 3.0-liter diesel engine boosted to 326 horsepower, giving the car a 0-62 time of 5.1 seconds. It comes with the S line sport package and is offered in four exterior colors: Daytona Gray, Misano Red, Nardo Gray and Sepang Blue. The interior is black leather, with the option of Misano Red or Agate Gray contrast stitching. The Competition edition will go on sale in August starting at ˆ72,000 (about $97,700). Audi's first Turbocharged Direct Injection engine debuted at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show in the Audi 100 2.5 TDI. See the press release down below for more details. There was another Tesla Model S crash recently, this one at the Tesla Store. The driver apparently crashed the freshly purchased car into the Tesla sign before even making it off the lot. According to Reddit user s1lentway, who was at the Tesla Store in Fremont, California when it happened, "We believe this is someone who just got their car. They must have been driving it for less than a minute and lost control, crashing right into the sign missing the showroom glass windows only by a few inches." Wrecked Exotics suggests the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. Probably the best comment in the Reddit post: "Edison strikes again." See the original post at Reddit for more corny jokes, speculation and similar stories from other users. Take a lap in a Formula E racecar. The video below offers up the sights and sounds of a hot, wet lap in the open-cockpit, all-electric Spark-Renault SRT_01E.

Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race Scion FR-S [w/video]

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Toyota has been hosting its Pro/Celebrity race at the Toyota Grand Prix on Long Beach since 1977. The charity event, which has raised millions of dollars over the years, traditionally pits Hollywood celebrities against professional athletes (including race car drivers) on the full Grand Prix course in modified street vehicles. The short, sprint-style race is popular with the crowds as the amateur drivers race uninhibited - the result is an action-packed race with plenty of excitement and automotive... er... carnage.
Over the decades, the drivers have raced a variety of Toyota products including last year's front-wheel-drive Scion tC. But this year, Toyota announced at the Chicago Auto Show that the new rear-wheel-drive Scion FR-S would be stepping up to the plate. The good news only became better when Toyota Motorsports invited us out to Southern California's Willow Springs Raceway (the same circuit where the drivers train and practice) to be one of the first behind the wheel.
