1989 Toyota Celica Turbo AllTrac (GTFour) ST165, chassis 8505. 2nd gen JDM 3SGTE ST185 freshly overhauled engine. Bored 0.020" over. (Less than 2k on engine) Ross forged aluminum pistons HKS 272 cams and springs HKS metal head gasket ARP head studs Toda oil pump All new Toyota OEM timing components including water pump Turbonetics T3T4 turbo charger Cast iron manifold Tial waste gate ST205 factory air/water intercooler FrozenBoost massive heat exchanger New Toyota radiator ACT clutch with 550 ft lb street disc Stainless braided clutch line with brass bushings Custom 3" stainless exhaust from turbo to tip. ST205 torsion type LSD rear diff and subframe All new Toyota subframe bushings All new SuperPro suspension bushings Koni adjustable strut inserts with Intrax springs Brembo cross drilled rotors with ceramic pads Stainless braided brake lines New wheel bearings All four calipers overhauled Relocated battery New "super red" paint Non ABS model AC deletion New tires (less than 1K) There is much more to list. This car runs and drives. The only major thing it needs is an after market engine management system; I was planning a MoTec or AEM. The engine is currently running on the factory JDM computer and it is not able to support the engines fuel needs at higher manifold pressures. The car is registered and has a clean title. It needs some other minor things, but the above mentioned item is the biggest issue left with the car. I have over $20k in this car. I don't really want to sell it, but my work doesn't allow me to continue on with this project. I'm the second owner of the car and purchased it in 1997. I'm a certificated aircraft mechanic and also worked as a lead tech at a well known Portland high performance auto shop. All work on this car has been performed by me, with the exception of the engine block assembly and machining. I have receipts for everything that's gone into the car. I will not trade the car and I accept only cash. Serious inquires only. I work on the road and am out of town frequently so it can be difficult to show the car. If you are serious about the car please send me an email with your name and phone number and I will be glad to discuss the car in further detail. Thanks for looking.

Toyota recalling select 2014 Camry and Avalon models

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

Toyota has announced a rather small voluntary recall, affecting 5,650 Avalon and Camry sedans from model year 2014. Both gas and hybrid models are included in the action.
This recall focuses on the left front lower suspension arm, which may have a bad bolt connecting it to the ball joint. If the car hits a big enough pothole - a real concern as we head into winter - or suffers a major impact, the two components could separate, at which point steering control would more or less vanish.
According to Toyota, there have been no crashes, injuries or deaths due to this problem. Toyota is notifying owners, who will need to report to dealers for a free replacement lower suspension arm.

Russian videographer nails this real-life 'Need for Speed' recreation

Tue, Jun 25 2019

Aaron Paul and Kid Cudi tried. They really did. They put forth a decent acting effort, played with some incredible replica supercars, and filmed at some remarkable settings. But it's 2019, and 2014's "Need for Speed" sits at a 6.5/10 on IMDB, a 39 on Metacritic, and a 57% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The studio attempt to bring "Need for Speed" to life was lukewarm, so a Russian videographer took a shot at the idea with this impressive digital short. Unearthed by Reddit user, AbuDab1, the clip is the work of Russia-based videographer @Chekunov_v. Clearly a fan of all things fast and fancy, as seen by his Instagram, Chekunov recreated the start screen, the garage with car and mod selection, and the race sequences from the video game. The video starts with an Acura RSX Type-S (labeled as the Integra Type R) with familiar theme music playing in the background. Accompanied by video game sound effects, the spotlight switches between a Toyota Celica, a Toyota Supra and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. The Supra and Evo are locked, so the user settles on the Celica. He goes on to select mods, including a new spoiler, new wheels and a new color, again to the tune of the proper sound effects, menus and camera views. The car exits the garage and rolls onto the road, where the screen now shows a tachometer and an N2O gauge. The Celica is met with a race challenge, and the car lines up with a Mazda RX-8, an Acura RSX Type-S and a Subaru WRX STI. After a terrible launch, the Celica uses some NOS and takes the victory. Unfortunately, the video is a bit 2 fast, 2 short for our taste. It's well done, has some unique video work, and takes us back into one of our favorite video game series. Maybe this guy can direct the studio sequel.

Union to launch Toyota organization drive in Canada

Sun, 12 Jan 2014

Toyota may be heading toward some labor issues in the Great White North, as employees at a pair of Canadian Toyota factories may be set for a certification vote. The Unifor union, which was the result of a merger last year between the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union, will be holding the vote.
Over 40 percent of the employees at the Woodstock and Cambridge, Ontario factories have signed union cards, cresting the minimum percentage required to instigate a legal certification vote, according to Reuters. The Woodstock factory is responsible for RAV4 production, while Cambridge builds the Lexus RX350 and RX450h, as well as the Toyota Corolla. The two factories employ nearly 7,000 people.
It's unclear when the union will hold a certification vote at the two factories, but what is rather clear are the worker complaints. Employees are concerned about workers being hired on temporary contracts which lack the benefits of full employment, John Aman, head of organizing for Unifor, told Reuters.
