Take a look at this very rare and clean 1985 Toyota Celica GT-S convertible!

On very rare occasions I come across a car as clean and collectible as this one!  I am a used car dealer based in Philly, PA and buy New Car Dealer trades as they come in and wholesale or retail them on my lot.

This is a blast from the past and a great collectible Toyota since they only made 4,248 from what I could find in my research.

This vehicle has plenty of life left in it and is originally a Florida car according to the title and only has 120k miles on it.

I drive every vehicle before offering them for sale so I can point out anything that is not original or may need to be looked at by the next owner.

It drives great, handles well, clutch and brakes feel good, no noises, no smoke, no taps and appears to be garage kept all it's life. It looks just as it would if it were new! I am not sure if all the paint is original but if it isn't they did a very professional job of respraying it, it has no over spray anywhere and shines like new.

The interior is very clean and there are no rips in the seats or door panels. However it looks to have had an aftermarket head unit and had speakers in the factory location in the rear panel behind the door.  They were removed prior to trade in. **SO THERE IS NO RADIO, NO SPEAKERS**.

It has an aftermarket alarm by Auto Page, I have one remote and one key to with the car.

The Top looks like it was replaced recently and is in excellent shape, and is of quality material with a headliner.

Unfortunately the power top is not working I am not sure if it's a switch or fuse, but there is an extra power top motor in the trunk and few extra relays I believe are for the top. **Good news is you can easily put it down by hand!**

The tires are like new, the factory rims are like the day it came from the factory!

There is a factory donut spare in the trunk, and an owners manual in the glove box.

So let's go over what I know needs attention, these are all minor issues in my opinion.

1.Power top does not operate (top can be lowered manually)
2.Power mirrors are not working (could be a fuse)
3.Does not have a radio
4.Has a hairline crack in the windshield (same windshield as regular Celica about $120 installed from just about any windshield place)

That's about it, one other thing it has an aftermarket muffler on it that actually sounds really nice, not too loud, very sporty. Does *NOT* sound like a ricer fart can.

I just put a new battery in it.

All around it is a very nice car that in my opinion of driving it could effortlessly make a drive to Florida and back!

Ok, Auction Time!

Please ask all questions before placing a bid, if you want more pics I will be happy to take a specific pic or for you. I drove the car for 2 days with no problem and it's a pleasure drive!

I am not a mechanic, but it seems mechanically sound, hey it's a TOYOTA they are practically bullet proof!

I would like this auction to go as smooth as possible, I have perfect feedback because I describe my items accurately as possible. Just keep in mind I may have overlooked something that you may feel is important and to me was minor.

The car is being sold AS-IS no warranty, guarantee expressed or implied, etc. its a 1985!

Bid with confidence this is a NO-Reserve auction, it has a clear PA Title and will be sold to the highest bidder!

I do not charge any doc fees or etc, if you need an In-Transit tag you can purchase one for around $60 at the local notary. I don't carry them since I don't sell many vehicles out of state.

A $500 non refundable deposit is due immediately at the end of the auction and I will allow 7 days to pick up the vehicle after the auction unless we agree on something else. The vehicle will be available for pickup or viewing in person thursday, friday and saturday 10am-5pm only. Those are my business hours.

The balance will be due at time of pick up in cash only within 7 days.

Good Luck bidding and again please ask me questions before bidding!

Thanks,

Rob.

Toyota produces millionth truck in Texas

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

After going online in 2006, Toyota's San Antonio, Texas truck plant has just built its one-millionth vehicle, the 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition you see above. The plant originally focused on just the Tundra pickup, but the smaller Tacoma started rolling off the line there in 2010, as well.
Fittingly, the 1794 Edition (a new premium trim level for 2014) pays homage to the property on which the Toyota plant now resides - a ranch that was founded in 1794. Scroll down for the official press release for the plant's milestone, and be sure to check out the full gallery of Tundra 1794 Edition images as well.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

Toyota GT86 CS-R3 rally car presages for-sale customer racecar

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

Rallying may enjoy a very strong association with all-wheel drive, but it wasn't so long ago that the World Rally Championship was populated by cars that slipped and slid across gravel and tarmac using rear-wheel drive. One of those was the Toyota Celica. While the little Celica eventually joined the gravel-spewing masses with an all-wheel-drive rally car, Toyota is returning to its rear-drive rally roots with a modified version of the critically acclaimed GT86.
Called the CS-R3, the new model boasts all the necessary changes to turn the diminutive twin of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ into a car capable of tackling the tough, twisting paths that are so routinely conquered by the world's rally cars. That means, of course, the CS-R3 has gotten a power bump.
Expected output sits between 240 and 250 horsepower, thanks to a new racing exhaust and manifold, as well as other changes. The ECU has been replaced with an item a bit more suited to racing, while the compression ratio has also been adjusted to boost the output.
