For Sale: 2001 Toyota Celica GT-s Supercharged

I love this car. Everyone told me I couldn't build a "Celica" to look "nice". Well, I proved everyone wrong by building one of the worlds few "stanced" Celica's. Now it's time to pass it on. It's fun and smooth to drive. It's quick whenever you need it to be. If college wasn't such a burden on me needing a car, it would not be for sale. Since I live in the snow belt now, I feel it's time for an AWD car that does not have to sit in the garage during the winter months. This has been my toy for a couple years now and has made my pockets slim. I believe now it is time for me to send this "neck breaker" away to someone who can appreciate year round, not just through the summer.

Tons of money invested into this 2001 with low mileage

Good: Car was painted less than two years ago. It has a clean title. Very low mileage. Always stored for winter. Never driven in winter. Never seen road salt. No signs of rust. Tuned less than a year ago by Monkeywrench. Transmission shifts smooth. Easy to drive. Body is in overall great shape.

Bad: Interior stripped (personal preference) but have all the panels that will go with car when sold. Apexi Muffler minor leak. That's about it.

Toyota settles complaints with states Attorneys General for $29 million

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Toyota announced today that it has reached a settlement with the Attorneys General of 29 states and one US territory that will resolve their complaints relating to recalls performed by the automaker from 2005-2010, including those related to sticky accelerators and malfunctioning floor mats that may have contributed to cases of unintended acceleration.
The settlement includes a payout of $29 million to be divided among the states and US territory, as well as a commitment from Toyota "to take steps to make vehicle information more easily accessible to consumers to help them operate their vehicles safely and make more informed choices." The settlement also has Toyota continuing its rapid-response service teams and quality field offices that were put in place shortly after the largest of the recalls from 2010, as well as a "range of customer care amenities for owners of vehicles subject to certain recalls," though the press release below isn't specific about what those amenities might be.
This settlement marks the second major step in the last few months that Toyota has taken to settle legal disputes surrounding the unintended acceleration recalls, the first being a $1.4 billion settlement to address economic loss suffered by owners of current and past Toyota vehicles that may have lost value on account of these recalls.

Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S sales disappointing worldwide?

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Okay, folks - it appears we've got a problem. The Toyota GT86, Europe's counterpart to our own beloved Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S coupes, is apparently not selling too well. This, according to Toyota's European Vice President of Research and Development, Gerald Killman, is what's limiting plans for additional variants of the rear-drive coupe.
"A faster version of that car would be at the top of most people's wish lists, but like the cabriolet, it is hard to justify a business case to push either model into production based on the current sales," Killman told AutoExpress. "Personally, I think that engine could use a little bit more," he added.
More troubling is that slow sales aren't limited to the Euro-spec car, with Killman claiming that the GT86 have been missing sales targets in major markets around the globe. It may not be that the US is one of those major markets, though. Scion's Vice President, Doug Murtha, tells Autoblog that his brand is happy with the sales of its version of the GT86, the FR-S. 18,000 units were sold last year, which Murtha says is "generally in line with original expectations for the car."
