Hey all you toyota lovers! This here is a beautiful rebuilt (R tiled) Toyota Celica. I bought this from an insurance auction for a winter project it had a crushed front end. I rebuilt it to meet inspection regulations! Now i am offering it to you to either finish or put on the road. I have speced out all the things it needs to be back to perfect. Mind you it runs perfect right now it just needs to be inspected in your state and registered there to. If you live in NY it will be easier cause thats were it was R titled. It needs either the airbags covered over or replaced. ($300 from ebay with springs for driver and passenger together). It needs new rear hatch springs ($50 from ebay for both) The hood is bent a little on the passenger side but it does close and open, so that would be a secondary thing if you wanted it to look new. It doesn't look bad now. So that is 200 from ebay. I just had the whole radiator/ fan assembly front bumper support and all that replaced and repaired the front end to high speed requirements... Also the seat belts are being repaired as you read this and will be installed in the car before you receive it. The passenger door had a random rust spot on the bottom which i roughly fixed but could use some more sanding and a coat of paint and clear coat... the rest of the body is in good condition there is the usual surface rust from the roads, but it doesn't go in anywhere that i have seen could use a couple cans of undercarriage paint... which i can include free. The last thing that i want to mention is the fuel door is off it's hinges i believe it would take but a half hour to repair but i just kept forgetting. :) SO there you have it a great started car for you or any kinda car! Its soooooo smooth riding and runs great no alignment or structural damage! I would love to keep this car but thats not what i do.I might also mention the tires are 99 percent band new all seasons.

An early gas-electric hybrid was developed by...Exxon?
Tue, Oct 25 2016We're not sure which aspect of Exxon's 1970s-era efforts to develop advanced and electrified powertrains is the most ironic. There's Exxon, that of the Valdez oil spill infamy, being on the leading edge of hybrids and electric vehicles. There's a boat-like Chrysler Cordova getting 27 miles per gallon. And there's the central role a Volkswagen diesel engine plays in that hybrid development. It's all outlined in an article (linked above) by Inside Climate News, and it's an amusing read. Flush with cash and fearing what it thought was peak oil production in the 1970s, Exxon funded a host of new ventures divisions geared to find alternatives to gas-powered powertrains. In the early 1970s, Exxon lured chemist M. Stanley Whittingham to develop what would become a prototype of a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Then, in the late 1970s, Exxon pioneered the concept of using an alternating-current (AC) motor as part of a gas-electric hybrid vehicle. The company retrofitted a Chrysler Cordova (yes, that's the model Ricardo Montalban used to hawk) with a powertrain that combined 10 Sears Die-Hard car batteries, an alternating current synthesizer (ACS), a 100-horsepower AC motor, and, yes, a four-cylinder 50-horsepower Volkswagen diesel engine. The result was a rather large two-door sedan that got an impressive 27 mpg. And while US automakers didn't see the potential in the early concept, in 1980 Exxon and Toyota began collaborating on a project that would involve retrofitting a Toyota Cressida with a hybrid engine. That car was completed in 1981, and may have been one of the seeds that eventually helped sprout the concept of the Toyota Prius. Soon after rebuilding the Cressida, Exxon would get out of the advanced-powertrain-development business, as oil prices began to fall in the early 1980s, spurring cost-cutting measures. Cry no tears for the Exxon, though, as what's now known as ExxonMobil is the largest US oil company. Toyota sizzle reel gives better look at i-Road Geneva concept
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Toyota is taking the tiny tandem Tango to Tron town. In a teaser video for the new i-Road, debuting at the Geneva Motor Show next week, we catch a light-bike-like glimpse of Toyota's quirky tandem-seat concept. We still don't know much about the vehicle itself, but the video does flash the words "fun, compact, emissions-free," which suggests this is an electric ride. Then comes the apparent tagline: "i Roll, i Rock i Road." An indication that the tilting image we see in the video isn't just a special effect, perhaps? We'll have to wait until we get to Switzerland next week to find out. Until then, you can watch the video below.
In more earthly reveals, Toyota will also show off its hotly anticipate FT-86 Open sports car concept and Auris Touring Sports wagon on its Geneva show stand.
Toyota GT86 engineer Tada recounts how sports car came to be
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Because the Toyota GT86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ coupes are now a reality, it's almost hard to imagine the struggle that had to happen within the large, conservative corporate structures at both automakers for the joint project to even get off of the ground.
Speaking to those struggles on Toyota UK's Toyota Blog, GT86 Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada enlightens us with a recap of the sports car's earliest origins. For Tada, the first stages of the project must have seemed almost as dreamlike as the final product is to drive.
Said the Chief, "I had been working in the minivan department engineering new product, but a month after the meeting I was summoned. 'Forget about minivans,' they said, 'you are now working on the sports-car project.'"
