2000 Toyota Celica GT, White with 16" chrome rims, automatic, carbon fiber hood. 212,800 miles, I have been the owner since 65,000 miles, oil changed every 3-5000 miles...no leaks whatsoever. Doesn't visibly burn any oil or smoke out the exhaust, but it will go through about a quart every 3-4K miles between changes due to the age of the engine and the miles on it. Rims are pitted in places, and hood needs new clear coat. Some minor damage on the passenger front ground effects area behind wheel....door opens fine, but does rub. Fuel door fell off due to the usual rust issue on the hing, I still have it. dings and dents here and there, but nothing else major. Brand new tires put on the front today, rear tires are about 50% maybe. New battery 6 months ago, new plugs last week. Car has never been in the shop for anything other than routine maintenance (tires, brakes, ac charge, etc.) except when I broke something myself. A/C works, but seems to have a very slow leak possibly....could just be the summer heat/sun causing the issue since during dusk and at night it blows cold. Drivers seat has the usual tear on the left side, steering wheel could use a cover or replacement since the leather is mostly gone at the top. drivers side front rug is damaged from not using the mat in a while. Runs and drives fine, I've been driving it daily for 8 years, but I bought a newer car to replace it. Overall car is in fair condition body/interior wise, and I'd say good to very good mechanically for its mileage. I'm sure there is more good and bad things to report, but this about covers the important stuff....feel free to email any questions or call 1-561-596-9792. THIS AUCTION IS LISTED AS LOCAL PICKUP ONLY, AND CASH PAYMENT IN PERSON ONLY. If you want to have it shipped, by all means set up shipping and arrange for somebody to pick it up, if you are able to make a cash payment...otherwise please do not make offers with "shipping to such and such" included in your offer. I am not arranging any sort of shipping, but I'll work with whoever you may arrange shipping with, and meet them to pickup the vehicle. Thanks for looking.
Ok, new information about buy it now auctions tutorial.....if you make an offer for a car (or anything else on ebay), then the seller accepts the offer, that ends the auction and you are responsible for paying for the item/car. If you want to inspect the vehicle, please schedule a time to see it before placing any bids or making any offers. Using buy it now, then wanting to inspect the vehicle, is not how it works. FYI, this vehicle is available for inspection on Sat/Sun/Mon 3PM-after for the most part. Lets give the third listing a go here and hope the third time is the charm folks. |

Toyota expands airbag recall to 2.27M vehicles worldwide
Wed, 11 Jun 2014Was your Toyota inspected under the company's recall campaign for faulty airbag inflators last year? You might have another trip ahead to have it repaired again. The automotive giant says that it found "the involved serial numbers provided by the supplier were incomplete, and did not include all of the potentially involved inflators," according to its official announcement. That means more replacements are needed.
Toyota's April 2013 inflator recall covered the Corolla, Matrix and Tundra from the 2003 and 2004 model years, the Sequoia from 2002 to 2004 and the Lexus SC 430 from 2002 to 2004. At the time, the company said it would need to inspect about 510,000 vehicles in the US but only expected to replace around 170,000 inflators.
However, the latest announcement increases that figure to about 766,300 vehicles in the US. Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the new amount is the combination of owners who need to have their vehicle looked at again and those who didn't come in for the initial recall. The company learned about the problem when Takata, the supplier, provided it with an improved list of the faulty part's serial numbers. According to The Detroit News, the latest recall affects about 2.27 million vehicles from them worldwide. Knight said owners would receive notification of the problem around the end of the month but repairs would come in phases because the automaker doesn't have all of the necessary parts at the moment.
Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers
Sun, Mar 29 2015As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Toyota Prius + gets refresh in UK, is it coming here?
Fri, 10 Oct 2014Toyota has unveiled a mid-cycle refresh of its seven-passenger, UK-market Prius +, known here in the US as the five-passenger Prius V. The revised hybrid MPV now boasts looks inspired by Toyota's more aggressive compact stylings as seen on its new Yaris and Aygo - particularly in the redone front fascia.
The new LED headlights are the most obvious change, sporting a sharper style, while the vertical slats that bookend front fascia are much larger and deeper, and are now home to LED running lights. The lower grille is also newly enlarged and trimmed in black plastic. Changes out back are far less noticeable, with the biggest tweak being a new diffuser that's been integrated into the rear bumper.
The interior gets a light freshening, too, with fresh trimmings around the switchgear, as well as a new 4.2-inch TFT display in the center mounted instrument cluster. The latter includes a new "Eco Judge" function designed to help owners drive more efficiently through a point-based reward system.
