1993 Toyota Celica Gt Convertable "low Low Miles" on 2040-cars
Gainesville, Florida, United States
1993 Toyota Celica GT Convertable with low low miles. Very clean inside and out for a 21 year old car. Interior 8/10, exterior 7.5/10. The car is all original motor, transmission, interior, top, paint. The car was purchased at an estate sale. It was just sitting in the back of the owners house under a tarp. The owner I purchased it from bought the car back in june of 2004 and only had 116817 miles on the odometer at that time which is documented on the Title. That means the car has been driven less than 2000 miles in the past 10 years. It now only has 118169 miles. I have had it for a month now and have replaced several worn or weathered parts to make it once again road worthy. THE PROS: New Radiator, thermostat, alternator, battery, distributor, wires, plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, timing belt, all fluids changed or flushed, Brand new tires put on last week with less than 10 miles on them. THE CONS: Air bag light is on (not sure why), minor blemishes, cracks and a dent all viewable in the pictures, I know the A/C works because I put freon in it 2 weeks ago and it blew cold however the system is now only blowing cool. I put my sniffer on the system and found that the shrader valve is leaking at the low side service port.(I'll try to address this issue before the auction ends but I did want to be upfront and honest about it). The tachometer does not work, the factory radio needs to be updated and replaced, the wiper switch needs to be replaced. All that being said, the car runs and drives good. I have only put 40 miles on the car since I have got it up and running and it just runs better and better with each mile I put on it. Really just needs to be driven. If you have any question please ask, If your local and want to come look at the car before you bid please just let me know. The car is located in Gainesville Florida. |

Camatte concept puts the Toy back in Toyota [w/videos]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014It's been two years since Toyota first revealed its Camatte show car at the Tokyo Toy Show. Though sadly never destined for production, Toyota brought the concept back the following year as the Camatte 57s roadster, and is now returning to the same show with yet another take on the kid-friendly, configurable 1+2 with interchangeable body panels - this time with a slew of features that are fresh not only to the concept itself, but to the industry altogether.
This year the Camatte is being showcased in two forms: a bare chassis in the Tech Lab that lets kids see the inner workings of a modern automobile, and another in the Design Lab that lets kids draw their own motif for the concept that is then displayed on an LED hood.
The overall approach reminds us of the way Toyota's budget brand Daihatsu unveiled the Kopen roadster concept at the Tokyo Motor Show late last year, only even more kid-focused and decidedly more light-hearted than you might otherwise expect from one of the largest industrial giants in the world, and could only have been made for a toy exposition. In Japan. Which would explain the ridiculously upbeat videos below, where you'll also find the brief press release.
How new car shortages may impact your buying experience
Wed, 04 Sep 2013If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.
Toyota recalls 690,000 Tacoma trucks for rusty leaf springs, fire risk
Mon, 29 Sep 2014Toyota has announced that it will be issuing a recall of 690,000 Tacoma pickups from model years 2005 through 2011. The affected vehicles include both the four-wheel-drive model and the two-wheel-drive PreRunner (but not the standard 4x2 pickups), which may have a rather serious problem with their rear suspensions.
In some cases, corrosion and stress could cause one of the three or four leaves in the rear suspension's leaf springs to fracture. While the trucks can still be driven with a broken leaf, Toyota is concerned that it could move out of position and impact other components in the rear of the truck, with a particular focus on the fuel tank. Needless to say, but a piece of metal continuously impacting anything, let alone the fuel tank, is cause for concern.
As of this writing, there have been no reports of crashes, injuries, fires or deaths due to this problem, although that won't stop Toyota from informing all affected customers of the issue. Those 690,000 owners will need to report in to dealers for inspections and, if necessary, repairs.
