I am Putting my custom 1st gen Celica out there for sale. Its a very nice little car and has had a lot of work put into it. Below is a list of modifications.

Engine and Trans:
Fuel injected 4.0 Alluminum V8 from a 1992 Lexus SC400. Engine has All new gaskets, new starter, and fresh red powdercoating. Custom built wire harness and fuse block with all refernce material provided. Rebuilt Lexus 4 speed Auto trans converted to slip yoke tail shaft, W/ 2600 stall converter, 1969 Camaro auto shifter. Aluminum radiator with Flex-a-lite electric fan. All new fuel system, Braided AN lines, Billet fuel filter, MSD fuel injection pump, Poly fuel cell mounted under rear of car. Exhasut is 2' primary factory headers with Stainless magnaflow Y collector  into 3" all the way back to Greddy Ti Muffler. Engine is equipped with the original Lexus A/C compressor, and the celica originally came with A/C, so all or the major components are there to make the A/C work, but it is missing the A/C hoses, and the condensor. Has remote mounted oil filter kit with upgraded high pressure oil hoses. Ask if there is anything else you have questions about.

Rear Differential:
Chevy 12 bolt originally from a 1972 Chevelle. Heavily built up, Moser axles W/ long studs, Olds big bearing ends/C-clip eliminators, Mark Williams spool, Richmond 4.56 Pro gears, Aluminum rear cover. Note: The gears are noisy, I would switch them out for street gears if car was to be driven frequently. Still running Drum brakes. Has custom driveshaft with toyota front u-joint and chevy rear u-joint.

Suspension and Steering:
Front short stroked coil over AE86 struts with new KYB inserts, cut rear springs. AE86 front subframe conversion with Power Rack & Pinion steering (New Reman Rack and new custom high pressure line with AN fittings). Has Negative camber roll center adjusters in front to compensate for the vehicle being lowered. The front camber is -3 degrees. It could be changed back to a normal camber spec if you wished to do so by changing to a standard roll center adjuster. But honestly the negative camber fits this car very well.
I had the front AE86 Corolla hubs re-drilled to 5 lug pattern, it works for now, but I would plan on doing the Aerospace components 5 lug prostreet brake kit. It would offer better performance and flare.

Body and paint:
Fresh Paint, Frost Lime Green from 1969 Camaro. Shaved parking lights, shaved gas door, shaved USDM rear bumper holes, shaved side vents, shaved oem mirror mounts, fitted with sport mirrors. All new front, rear, and side window seals installed during the paint process, so no need to worry about paint bubbling up around tape lines and such. it was done correctly. The car has been fitted with Australian market all steel Front and rear bumpers. The front bumper has been painted a couple times and is currently gloss black, looks nice, does not have any rust issues. Has the original Australian market front bumper steel filler panels, and bumper brackets and lights. The rear bumper is original chrome, but has been damaged/repaired in the past. it has a lot of dings. It fits the body lines fine, but would need to be refurbished to be up to par with the rest of the car.

Interior:

OMP racing seat. Custom Sparco quick release steering hub and sport wheel. All other interior is original and about a 5/10, it looks ok, but could use redoing. The original dashpad was badly cracked. It was removed and a dashcap put in its place. I still have the original dashcap and it will come with the car.

Wheels:
Immaculate vintage Appliance Dia-Mags circa 1977. I took these out of the original packaging myself and they are perfect. 15x7 front, 15x8.5 rear. Nice Falken tires in rear. Could use new front tires though, they were used when I put them on, and they are not great. They cause a shake at freeway speeds. The shake was not there before putting those tires on.

Although this car is not 100% restored yet, it is very presentable and it shows well at the local car show. It gets a lot of attention and makes a great conversation piece. I have put a lot of work into this car and its a lot of fun. Its actually quite popular in the 1st Gen Celica community. Theres not many V8 Celicas out there, here's your chance to have one at an excellent price. Please email me if you have any questions at all. The car is Located in Charleston, South Carolina and I have a clean title in hand. It is still on an Arizona Title as I just recently moved to South Carolina.

Here is a short video clip on youtube of the car driving. http://youtu.be/S7sUaj8b6CA
This video is to show that the car is fully drivable and to also give some insight into the rear end whine that can be heard in the beginning of the video. Thanks for looking.

Buy a Toyota GT86 and your wife will hate you

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

Marketing can be a very strange business. Convincing a man or woman (or child, really) that they absolutely cannot live without the latest, greatest new bit of technology oftentimes takes a unique approach. In the "online film promoting the Toyota GT86" you'll see below, created by agency Happiness Brussels, men are reverse-psychologied into thinking a new sports coupe will make them more masculine by getting their loved ones to hate them. Or something like that. We think.
In any case, we suggest you watch the video below to see how much fun men can have with a GT86 - or Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, presumably - at the expense of their significant others. Fair warning: There's a potential Not Safe For Work moment in the ad: beware of a brief male butt shot about 44 seconds in.
Marketing. Gotta love it. Unless you're married to a man. Or something like that. We think. Whatever, just watch.

Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ successor canceled?

Tue, Jan 29 2019

Rumors indicate that the Toyota 86 is done for. Japanese Nostalgic Car is quoting Japanese sources as saying Toyota and Subaru have parted ways regarding the 86 and that the current car's replacement is off the table. According to JNC, the Japanese magazine Best Car is readying a report that the 86/BRZ successor has been canceled. JNC also considers the fact that in Japan, there will be a four-cylinder, 197-horsepower version of the new Supra, ready to continue where the 86 will leave the market. Back in 2016 the automaker seemingly confirmed that a replacement for the rear-drive car was under development, but plans can change and with a cheaper Supra version for sale in markets outside the U.S., we have to wonder if the 86 replacement has been shelved. The 86, while balanced, has only received mild enhancements and not a lot of extra power during its near-decade long time on the market, and it isn't such a strong seller that it would necessarily merit the effort of Toyota developing a successor on its own, particularly without the help of a partner like Subaru or BMW. At the same time, Autocar quotes Toyota boss Akio Toyoda on the Supra: "At the end of the day, is there anything better than a tight rear-wheel-drive sports car? I hope this won't be the last Toyota sports car you see from us in the future." While that is far from a solid statement of Toyota's future intent, it paves the way to offerings below the Supra, and shows how much the company boss cares about driver involvement. There is a distinct possibility that the company will re-introduce the MR2 as an electrified, rear-drive sports car – which could still be a joint venture with Subaru, as Japanese Nostalgic Car theorizes. Whatever's in the pipeline – and we hope there is something in the pipeline – it seems Toyota's heart is in the right place: driving the rear wheels. Related Video:

Toyota Prius sets a different kind of Nurburgring lap record [w/video]

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

Scroll down the leaderboards of Nürburgring lap times and you'll see mostly racing cars, supercars and sports cars. Delve deep enough and you'll eventually get to hatchbacks and sedans, albeit the most performance-focused of their kind. But a hybrid? Sure, the Porsche 918 Spyder posted the top time for a street-legal series production car, and it's technically a hybrid, but we're talking about another kind of hybrid here. We're talking about a Toyota Prius.
That's right: the Prius just set a lap record around the Nordschleife. But it wasn't for the lap time. In fact, miles per hour barely factored in (except for staying above the minimum 37-mph average speed mandated on the vaunted racing circuit). No, this was about miles per gallon.
Toyota took one of its Prius Plug-In hybrids to the Nürburgring, topped up the battery, put on a set of low-rolling-resistance tires and put automotive journalist Joe Clifford behind the wheel with a mandate to use as little fuel as possible. After one second shy of 21 minutes, the Prius completed its lap having used just five tablespoons of fuel.
