It is time to sell my baby,i am selling my 1977 toyota celica gt lift back. I have spent the last 5 years building this car and it is Awesome. almost ever part on this car has been modified to turn it in to a race ready streetable car. It has had an engine swap done to it with a strong running motor in it with a bunch of mods done to it , all of the panels on this car are metal no fiberglass or large amounts of body filler were used the only ting body filler was used for was skim coating to smooth out the car. the interior has aluminum door and interior panels that were custom made for the car as well as a custom built 7 point roll cage to stiffen the chassis. This car has been painted army green and has an awesome large star graphic on the back of it. It has custom powder coated western turbine wheels that are the same era as the car as well as a full custom built adjustable suspension. the rear end on this car is in great shape as well as the transmission. It has adjustable bucket seats and 4 point harnesses in it as well. Here is a full list of upgrades and modifications that have been done to the car. I am not exactly sure of the milage on the car due to its odometer rolling over but as i stated the engine was swapped for one tht had around 75,000 miles on it and that was about 4000 miles ago, and all of the breaks and wheel bearing have been replaced.

It has a small exhaust leak
Seats have some light stains in them i left the window down at a car show and it rained
the rear end has a small leak out of the cover seal
also the dash clock does not work
it will need an alignment
a couple of the exhaust hangers will need to be replaced
but over all this is a super strong reliable car and all of the upgrade and maintenance parts that were used were brand new and i have all of the paper work and receipts for all of the things that were done to the car.

This is a good strong running car that has been very well maintained and taken care of. all of the lights switches and gauges on this car are in good working order (with the exception of the fuel gauge) and the tires and breaks are like brand new. Since it was built it has always been kept in a garage and has had its oil changed about once every 1000 miles. I don't want any problems with this auction so if you have any questions or would like any more pictures please feel free to ask, and only bid if you intend to pay when an item sells the seller has to pay a large fee. AS I SAID IN THE AUCTION THIS CAR HAS HAD AN ENGINE SWAP AS WELL AS VARIOUS OTHER UPGRADES SO YOU WILL NEED TO CHECK YOU EMISSIONS REGULATIONS IN YOUR AREA, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CAR IF IT DOES NOT PASS EMISSIONS TEST IN YOUR AREA ONCE YOU HAVE BOUGHT IT, AGAIN YOU WILL NEED TO CHECK YOUR REGULATIONS. ALSO ONCE THE CAR SELLS A 500 DOLLAR DEPOSIT WILL NEED TO BE MADE AND THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PICK UP OR SHIPMENT OF THE CAR. I HAVE TRIED TO BE AS HONEST ABOUT EVERY THING ON THE CAR AS POSSIBLE BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK. the carb will also need to be re jetted for what ever altitude you live at, i have it jetted and tuned to run autocross races in my area.

Legal approach in $1.2 billion Toyota settlement could impact handling of GM recall cases

Wed, 26 Mar 2014

In the past, if an automaker did something wrong, they were usually prosecuted by the US government through something called the TREAD Act. Short for Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act, it basically requires automakers to report recalls in other countries, along with any and all serious injuries or deaths, to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Failing to report or attempting to conceal anything when there's been a death or serious injury constitutes a criminal liability. The idea is that this setup puts the onus on manufacturers to keep NHTSA apprised of safety related issues before they become a problem in the US, thereby allowing the regulator to better protect consumers.
In theory, it sounds like a relatively airtight set of rules for dealing with misbehaving automakers. That didn't stop the US Department of Justice from ignoring TREAD in its prosecution of Toyota's handling of the unintended acceleration recall, though. The result of this new approach, which charged Toyota with wire fraud, was a $1.2 billion settlement. Now, the wire-fraud approach could be used for the expected case between the US government and General Motors, based on the statements of Attorney General Eric Holder, who specifically mentioned "similarly situated companies" when discussing Toyota.

Toyota reveals new TS040 Hybrid LMP1 [w/videos, poll]

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

There's a new season of motor racing upon us, and while that doesn't always mean a new crop of cars in every series, in the case of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship, that's exactly what it means. Porsche recently revealed its new 919 Hybrid and Audi its revised R18 E-Tron Quattro. Now it's Toyota's turn.
Revealed today at the Paul Ricard test track in the South of France, the new TS040 Hybrid is based on the TS030 Hybrid it replaces, redesigned to meet the latest regulations established by the FIA and ACO for the World Endurance Championship and its flagship race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In accordance with said regulations, the TS040 is two inches narrower than the TS030 and also incorporates a new hybrid powertrain.
The previous 3.4-liter V8 has been replaced by a 3.7-liter V8 developing 513 horsepower, and the new engine is coupled to an Aisin AW electric motor at the front, a Denso electric motor at the rear and a Nisshinbo super-capacitor that combine to kick out an extra 473 hp, giving the system a combined output of nearly 1,000 horsepower while consuming 25 percent less fuel than last year's car. It also gives the TS040 all-wheel drive to help channel all that power to the road.

Here's the 2017 Toyota 86: Don't call it a Scion

Fri, Feb 5 2016

After we heard the bells toll for Scion yesterday, we told you that the Scion FR-S will transform into a Toyota. That's right: just a rebadging. The practical question is, which badge? The philosophical question, which we can't answer yet, is where it'll sit in the pantheon of front-engined, rear-drive Toyota sports cars, of which the Supra was the last one to visit our shores, from 1992 until 1998 in its fourth generation. And as if summoned by this conversation, this camouflaged prototype appeared. Our best guess is that this is going to be the US-bound, Toyota-badged version of the Subaru BRZ and all the other 86-badged variants: the Toyota 86 (in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and South Africa), Toyota GT86 (in Europe and New Zealand again), and Toyota FT86 (in Nicaragua and Jamaica). For simplicity's sake, let's call it a Toyota 86. Peer into the 86's swirly camo, and it looks like the car is going in for a light refresh. The lower intake in the front fascia, if it's representative of a production part, adopts a different shape and is considerably wider and narrower than either the BRZ or FR-S units. It also appears that the turn signal and its surround are reshaped, different than any of the current variants. Changes out back appear mild. The area around the license plate seems to be smoother, and there is likely a predictable light restyle of the bumper skin and defuser under the camo. We don't expect a significant power increase, and certainly not a turbocharger (sorry!), but crossing fingers wouldn't do any harm. Related Video:
