1997 Toyota Camry American Edition 4 Cylinder on 2040-cars
Roseville, Michigan, United States
UP FOR SALE IS A GREAT RUNNING 1997 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT I GOT ON A TRADE ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. EVER SINCE IVE USED IT AS A PARTS SERVICE AND SALE DELIVERY CAR.
ITS 4 CYLINDER VERY GOOD ON GAS AND DRIVES VERY SMOOTH LIKE A LUXURY CAR. THE PAINT ON THIS CAR AND 2 LITTLE RUST SPOT ARE THE ONLY BAD WITH THE EXTERIOR. THE ONLY BAD ON THE INTERIOR IS THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER LOST HIS KEYS AND DECIDED TO DO A IGNITION SWAP HIS SELF AND IM PRETTY SURE HE FORGOT TO PLUG IN SOMETHING UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE HE SAID "THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE HORN WOULDNT WORK AFTER THE SWAP" IM SURE THIS IS A SIMPLE FIX, OTHER THAN THAT THIS CAR IS THE BEST CAR YOU WILL FIND FOR THE PRICE. THE CATYLAC CONVERTER WAS ALSO STOLEN SO WE REPLACED IT WITH A STRIGHT PIPE BUT THE CAR IS STILL VERY QUIET, YOU WONLDT EVEN NOTICE IT HAS A STRIGHT PIPE, THE DOWN SIDE TO THIS IS THAT IT THROWS ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. SINCE IVE OWN THE CAR I ONLY CHANGE THE BRAKES TIRES OIL PUMP AND OIL EVERY 3000 MILES WITH PENZOIL FULL SYNTETHIC 10W40 MOTOR OIL. PLEASE CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTION OR CONCERNS,.. MILAGE IS MOSTLY HIGHWAY PERFECT CAR FOR A STUDENT OR A FAMILY CAR.. 2484031252 CALL OR TEXT ANY TIME |

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags
Sun, Dec 14 2014Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.
Toyota recalling 1.9M Prius models globally for software update
Wed, 12 Feb 2014Toyota has announced a set of voluntary recalls covering 960,000 Prius, RAV4, Tacoma and Lexus RX350 models in the United States to address two separate issues. Worldwide, Toyota will have to recall a total of 1.9 million Prius cars.
The Prius recall affects about 700,000 2010-2014 models in the US, due to a fault in the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU software. It says that the current software could result in high temperatures on certain transistors and possibly damage them. When it fails, the error forces the car into failsafe mode. Toyota says that in rare circumstances, it could even shut the hybrid system down while the car is being driven.
Toyota spokeswoman Shino Yamada told Automotive News that the software update should take about 40 minutes, and dealers would start to be notified about affected vehicles today. She also told them that the first reported glitch occurred in May 2011 in the US when the system overheated and the car entered failsafe mode. The affected cars were built between March 2009 and Feb. 5, 2014, according to Automotive News. Toyota says that it has received no reports of accidents or injuries caused by either fault.
