Toyota Avalon 2013 Hybrid Limited
This Avalon Limited comes equipped with the optional drivetrain hybrid-electric system using a 2.5L 4-cylinder and an electric motor for a total of 200 hp. With this drivetrain the Avalon is able to achieve 40 mpg on the highway and 39 mpg in the city, making it extremely fuel efficient for a Luxury automobile. V6-powered Limited Avalon has leather seating, attractive 17-inch alloy wheels, a stereo with a 6.1 inch touchscreen, a backup camera and a power sliding moonroof. The top of the line Limited Avalon gets a rear sunshade, a 3-zone climate control system, a premium navigation system, a 10-way adjustable heated and cooled driver's seat and heated rear seats. When new the Hybrid drivetrain adds around $2,000 to the bottom line. There are plenty of safety systems at work in the 2013 Avalon, though most of them are invisible in most situations. Anti-lock brakes, stability control and traction control are standard as are the ten airbags and the tire pressure monitoring system.

Watch this video diary of a 900-hp Toyota Supra build
Sat, 08 Jun 2013If you've ever looked at a car with nearly 1,000 horsepower and wondered why anyone needs that amount of thrust, you may want to take a look at the video below. In it, one gentleman details his descent into Toyota Supra madness, starting with a pristine factory example and stumbling down the rabbit hole of modification. What makes this particular clip interesting is just how honest the owner is as he explains the evolution of his car. He doesn't just prattle off a list of parts like he's reading the menu at an IHOP.
Instead, he painstakingly pulls us through the car's growth, detailing each iteration and what pushed him to the next stage of the build every time. From this point of view, it looks less like someone walked into a shop and lit a massive stack of $100 bills on fire and more like a quasi-logical progression of events. Or at least it does to me. You can check out the build in the video below, complete with plenty of Fast and the Furious references and racing. Win, win, win.

Toyota Matrix discontinued for 2014
Mon, 05 Aug 2013Between its slow sales and the upcoming redesign of the closely related Corolla sedan, things haven't been looking good for the Toyota Matrix (for some time now). After 10 years on the market, Toyota has officially announced that it will drop the Matrix from its US lineup following the 2013 model year.
The announcement was made as a part of a press release breaking down what's new for Toyota in 2014, but for now, it doesn't look like any Toyota-branded product will fill the Matrix's spot. The Matrix and its sister car, the defunct Pontiac Vibe, were the final vehicles developed under the joint venture between Toyota and General Motors, an arrangement launched back to 1984.
