2006 Toyota Tundra Xs-p Crew Cab Pickup 4-door 4.7l on 2040-cars
Aiken, South Carolina, United States
Listed for sale in this auction is a 2006 Toyota Tundra XS-P double cab (4 door) with approximately 94,230 miles. This truck is in EXCELLENT condition both under the hood and throughout the body and interior. Its only flaw is a passenger-side, cracked turn signal (see picture) from a rock that flew up in the road. I am very meticulous about my vehicles and I constantly keep them clean inside and out along with getting all appropriate preventative maintenance. I recently (approx. 500 miles ago) installed new Brembo Brakes, Rotors and Drums all around. I also just had the transmission serviced, coolant flushed, brake fluid flushed, and oil changed. I used synthetic oil and changed every 5,000 miles. I am the second owner of this truck and have owned it since 2009. I have absolutely loved this truck and it took me aggressively looking the for the past three months to find a replacement. I actually did not want to get a new truck but I need 4-wheel drive--this truck is 2-wheel drive. This truck features the following: Keyless entry Remote Start Power windows Automatic Transmission 4.7L V8 XS-P Package Leather interior Sun Roof Back Up Camera After Marker Kenwood Excelon CD Player Running Boards Bed Liner (Lay in style) Soft Bed Cover Tow Package I received a set of used tires from a friend of mine last summer and I thought that they would work out great, but they really have not. The tires are in decent shape (50-60%), but they are slightly too big and rub against the fender well when you turn extremely sharp (i.e, wheel all the way either clockwise or counter clockwise). Does not affect anything while running straight down the road or when hitting bumps, just sharp turns like when trying to make a u-turn in the middle of the road. This truck is being sold locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell. Payment will require an immediate NON-REFUNDABLE $500 down payment with the rest due within 7 days of auction end. I prefer local pickup, but will coordinate with a shipping company identified by the buyer. Should you have any questions or concerns, please ask prior to placing a bid. All reasonable offers will be considered. |

Toyota makes $100M investment to boost Indiana Highlander production
Mon, 25 Aug 2014Toyota has announced that it will be making a $100 million investment in its Princeton, IN factory in a bid to increase production of its popular Highlander CUV. The move will create 300 new jobs by 2016 and increase the total number of crossovers the plant can produce by 30,000.
Toyota currently builds the Highlander, alongside the fullsize Sequoia, at Toyota Indiana's West Plant. The additional capacity, though, will be sent to the East Plant, which is currently responsible for production of the recently refreshed Sienna minivan.
"The Highlander has been a great product for our plant," Toyota Indiana President Norm Bafunno said in a statement. "Establishing Highlander as the 'bridge vehicle,' as we call it, between the East and West plants increases our ability to meet customer needs for our outstanding products. This exciting news is a true testament to the capability of our hard-working and dedicated team members."
NHTSA urges owners of recalled Takata airbag vehicles to take immediate action
Mon, 20 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Department of Transportation are taking the unusual step of issuing a followup press release urging owners of certain recalled vehicles "to act immediately" to fix their cars and trucks. The problem in question concerns the repair campaigns for rupturing Takata airbag inflators issued in June and covers a long list of models from Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Infiniti, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac.
While NHSTA doesn't specifically say why the recall is vital in the new release, Toyota's own explanation in its newly announced renotification campaign earlier today sheds some new light on the topic. According to the Japanese automaker, in testing, Takata found a possible link between the rupturing airbag inflators and high humidity. NHTSA is advocating that all owners pursue repairs immediately if they haven't already done so already. This is especially crucial for those drivers especially in Florida, Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Hawaii because of the humid conditions there.
We don't need to tell you how dangerous an inadvertent airbag deployment could be - even in a stationary vehicle - but adding to the Takata issue is fears that the deployment could lead to shrapnel being sprayed into the cabin.
Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
