THERE IS A REASON THAT THESE TOYOTA TERCEL "WHITE HAWK" EDITIONS ARE ESPECIALLY COVETED.  TOYOTA MADE A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF THESE, HALF PAINTED WHITE AND LABELED THE "WHITE HAWK" EDITION, AND THE REMAINING HALF PAINTED BLACK AND LABELED THE "BLACK HAWK" MODEL.

THIS IS AN ESPECIALLY NICE CAR.  ALTHOUGH ALL THE WHITE HAWK AND BLACK HAWK EDITIONS CAME WITH ALUMINUM "MAG" WHEELS-- IN ADDITION TO OTHER UPGRADES--THIS CAR IS IN REALLY GREAT CONDITION, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RUST, DENTS OR OTHER DAMAGE.   VERY SIMPLY, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE "SPECIAL" VEHICLES THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY BULLET-PROOF, REGULARLY EXCEEDING 400,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WITH LITTLE MORE THAN REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND AN OCCASIONAL SET OF TIRES AND BRAKES.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO FOR MY DAUGHTER. THE PREVIOUS OWNER SUNK SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS INTO THE CAR--WITH NEW TIRES, NEW SHOCKS, AND MUCH, MUCH MORE. HOWEVER, HE WAS A LARGE MAN, AND BY THE TIME HE GOT AROUND TO REGISTERING THIS CAR HE HAD GAINED QUITE A BIT OF WEIGHT, AND COULDN'T FIT INSIDE IT ANY MORE.  MY DAUGHTER DROVE IT FOR 2 YEARS BUT RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW HONDA, SO THIS LITTLE SCREAMER HAS GOT TO GO.

HERE A LIST OF WHAT IS NEW OR RECENTLY INSTALLED ON THE CAR

1)    NEW WHITE PAINT, APPLIED LAST WEEK. PAINT IS THE SAME HEAVY-DUTY RUST INHIBITING PAINT THAT IS APPLIED TO NEW YORK STATE SPREADER HOPPERS.  IT WAS ACTUALLY PAINTED IN THE SPREADER/HOPPER PLANT, WITH THREE COATS OF GRAY PRIMER FOLLOWED BY THREE COATS OF FINISH PAINT APPLIED.

2)    NEW DRILLED-AND-SLOTTED ROTORS WITH CERAMIC BRAKE PADS. CALIPERS HAVE BEEN PAINTED WITH RUST INHIBITING RED PAINT.

3)   NEARLY NEW TIRES HAVE ABOUT 4000 MILES ON THEM.

4)   NEARLY NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND EXHAUST

5)   NEW SPARK PLUGS, WIRES.

6)   NEW WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT.

7)   NEW TIMING BELT

8)   NEW SERPENTINE BELT & ALTERNATOR BELT

9)   NEW CAMSHAFT AND CRANKSHAFT SEALS.

10)  NEW PERFORMANCE CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL.

11)  NEW FUEL INJECTORS

12)  NEW COIL PACKS

13)  NEW WALKER SHOCKS

MOST OF THE ABOVE PURCHASES--OTHER THAN THE DRILLED-AND-SLOTTED ROTORS AND CERAMIC PADS, COIL PACKS, FUEL INJECTORS AND SPARK PLUGS --WERE MADE BYTHE PREVIOUS OWNER, AROUND THE TIME THE CAR TURNED 195,000 MILES. i HAVE A STACK OF RECEIPTS THAT YOU CAN LOOK THROUGH DOCUMENTING MUCH OF THIS WORK.

THIS TOYOTA RUNS REALLY STRONG, AND THE AVERAGE COMBINED CITY/HIGHWAY MPG IS 32 MILES-PER-GALLON.  BY THE WAY, ONE ADDED BONUS:  BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHT LENSES ARE THICK GLASS--AND NOT PLASTIC--THEY WILL NEVER TURN DULL, CLOUDED OR WORN LIKE THE CHEAP PLASTIC LENSES.

THE CAR HAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, HOWEVER THIS IS A MOOT POINT SINCE IT IS APPARENTLY NOT IN THE SYSTEM AND THEREFORE HAS NOT BEEN CALLED FOR EMMISSIONS.   IF YOU WANT TO GET RID OF THE IDIOT LIGHT, MY MECHANIC FRIEND INQUIRED WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON, AND WHEN I INFORMED HIM THAT THE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I  FLOORED THE THROTTLE GOING UP A HILL (WHICH COULD CAUSE A BRIEF "STUMBLE") HE ADVISED ME IT WAS A CLOGGED "EGR" VALVE.

THIS TERCEL IS VERY CLEAN, HAS NO RUST ISSUES, NO TEARS IN THE UPHOLSTERY, AND NO DENTS OR DEFECTS.

THIS TERCEL IS AN EXCELLENT VALUE, AND AS WITH ALL MY AUCTIONS I NEVER INSULT A POTENTIAL BIDDER'S INTELLIGENCE BY USING A "BUY-IT-NOW" OR SUGGESTING A MINIMUM PRICE.  ALL MY AUCTIONS START AT $.99 CENTS AND END WHEN THE WINNING BIDDER DETERMINES THE FINAL SALE PRICE.

PLEASE NOT  AND BY THE WAY--BECAUSE E MY 100-PERCENT "FEEDBACK" RATING. LOOK THE PHOTOS OVER CAREFULLY AND CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE.  I ENCOURAGE YOU TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND TAKE A TEST DRIVE. I AM LOCATED IN NORTHWEST CONNECTICUT, IN A SMALL "BEDROOM" COMMUNITY. YOU CAN FEEL COMPLETELY SAFE EITHER INSPECTING, TEST-DRIVING OR PICKING UP THIS CAR.

                                                                                                                                   ******************

West Coast labor dispute hampers Japanese automakers' US plants

Wed, Feb 18 2015

The ongoing labor dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and port owners along the West Coast is starting to affect more Japanese automakers building vehicles in the US. The issue already forced Honda and Subaru to take the expensive option of airlifting some parts into the US weeks ago, and according to USA Today, Toyota and Nissan have begun doing so, as well. The choice hasn't been cheap, though, and Subaru's chief financial officer estimated that the decision cost around $60 million more per month than sending components by cargo ship. The effects continue to radiate, according to USA Today, and shortages of some models are possible. Honda is slowing production at its factories in Ohio, Indiana and Canada because the automaker doesn't have enough transmissions and electronics for some vehicles. Toyota already cut back on overtime at some factories. Nissan has only seen a small effect from the issue, though, because of its local suppliers. Dock workers and port owners have been negotiating on a new contract since last year, and the union has organized work slowdowns in response. According to USA Today, the automakers could move shipments to Canada or Mexico, but it would take longer for parts to arrive. Toyota hits 10 million Camry models sold in US

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

This year marks 30 years of sales for the Toyota Camry in the US, and in that time, it has amassed more than 10 million sales. In its first year on the market, the Camry sold 52,651 units, but it has gone on to become the best-selling car in the US for the last 11 years.
Toyota says that "virtually all" current Camry models sold in the US are made here, and three-quarters of all Camry contents are domestically sourced. Scroll down for the official press release from Toyota, and be sure to check out our gallery of images showing every model year and bodystyle of the Camry since it first went on sale in 1983.

2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

People, us included, make a big stink about the importance of family sedans. There's no doubt they're critical - they represent a huge slice of the market's annual sales and profits. However, despite accounting for far fewer transactions than the midsize sedan segment, the fullsize sedan is getting attention from manufacturers now that our market's entire lineup of those (slightly) smaller four-doors has turned over in the last two years or so. As most of the fullsize segment's mainstays derive a fair bit of their platform and powertrain technologies from their midsize cousins, these larger four-doors offer the potential for fatter profit margins, too. And with the newly stylish duds found on many of the industry's most successful midsize sedans, it's only right that automakers no longer think about fullsizers as big, squishy, vanilla family haulers with flat seats, vague steering and a thin layer of 'luxury' in the form of faux wood trim.
As manufacturers have again started diving into large sedans feet-first, the cars themselves have become sharper. The interiors are now of a higher quality and loaded with tech, while the exteriors have become further extensions of each manufacturer's design language. There's perhaps no greater example of this than the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Taurus, two models that evolved from subpar offerings into market leaders. This segment-wide transformation happened quite quickly, whether because of coincidental timing or because manufacturers are trying to get more out of their big cars, recognizing they account for a small portion of overall sales (just 3.5 percent of the new-car market in the first half of 2013).
The 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid is one such vehicle. We remarked on the changes to the V6 variant last year, and while we previously had a quick steer of the gas-electric hybrid, we figured the new model was worth a closer week-long look.
