Here it is..... one of the most sought after cars ever built!! Toyotas rare 4x4 wagon with a six speed manual and a BRAND NEW REBUILT ENGINE ***** WITH WARRANTY***** The Engine was professionally installed by A-One Japanese Auto of Auburn Wa. This engine has 11 months left on a one year warranty. So, even if it drips one tiny bit of oil, if your not happy you can take it in and they will fix it!!!! This car is a rare rare rare find in this condition. The interior is so nice for a car this old its actually kinda weird ( sorry I never vacuumed when I took pic's but its clean now :) the headliner is amazing with no tears which is just strange for rigs this old and being a wagon. There are no cracks in dash or other interior parts....drivers bottom shows some wear but no holes.  Way awesome the windshield is perfect!!!  stock antenna intact, original hub cabs and wheels, original floor mats, and even the stock original tire iron and bag!  I swear this rig was left in a barn for years or something to have this type of stuff still be so nice. The car only has 181,000 miles on it.....and get this ***** NO RUST****** that screams good deal alone... finding a tercel with no rust saves thousand$$$ in time and money.     Usually these rigs are rusted through. The 4x4 works great and drives like brand new! I also installed a brand new Weber DGEV 32/36 carburetor to give it a little more kick..... new carb call s for more stuff  so  I also purchased the top of the line rotary Carter fuel pump and Weber fuel regulator to be installed that go with the new upgraded Weber carb ( you get to install this ....one hour and your done) .    90% on the tires, brakes have full life and work great. Car drives awesome and shifts great for a old rig. This rare car even comes with the original manual!! body is straight except for a small dent in rear back driver side door that can be easily pulled pushed out by removing panel.....plus it comes with the side SR5 molding to replace the one that got the sr5 smudged off.   All the hard labor intensive stuff and mind boggling detective work finding parts has been done on for this rig. Priced to sell!!!! the rebuild alone cost me $2500!!!!and this was no friends Uncle Rico that a mechanic in his garage...this was a professional outfit that specializes in rebuilds that did the work. The paint could use a real good waxing and just a few little dings here and there that is to be expected.  Glass, is perfect all around.  the Interior is 8 or 9 /10!!!   under carriage is 10/10 body 8/10....   The "To Do's"  has one little broken amber turn light that you can buy on ebay for $5.00 and that's it......  a little elbow grease on the driver window regulator...... a new thermostat ( $7.00 and one screw)..... needs a radio, and maybe some love to the muffler.  I recommend getting a RamFlo air filter and getting rid of the PCV valve ( I also added the valve breathers to do this)  Other than ONE day of tinkering its perfect!!!   I can deliver to Seattle if you need or want it shipped.  Please message me if you have any questions.  I want you to buy with confidence.

Oh...Subaru's suck!!  :)

Toyota's Bob Carter says far fewer stations needed in shift from gas to hydrogen

Thu, Feb 6 2014

Toyota's Bob Carter has been talking about green cars for years, but it's only been recently that his comments have really caught widespread attention thanks to his disparaging remarks about electric vehicle supporters like Elon Musk and Carlos Ghosn and optimism about hydrogen. Speaking at the opening of the Chicago Auto Show this morning, Carter said that Toyota has claimed the "pole position on CAFE," thanks to its deep hybrid bench. The company's green car cred will continue to grow because of its upcoming hydrogen fuel cell car, due out next year. Carter is relentlessly optimistic: "I truly believe fuel cells will fundamentally change how we feel about transportation," he said. The reason, Carter said, is that a hydrogen infrastructure will be easier to install than people think. He referenced a study conducted by the University of California (which we've heard about before) that found that California would only need 68 hydrogen stations to refuel the roughly 10,000 H2 vehicles that Toyota hopes to sell in by 2016 or so. That's a lot more than the nine that exist today, but the state has already approved funding for 20 new stations by 2015 and then up to 100 by 2024. Then he said this: "If every vehicle in California ran on hydrogen, we could meet refueling logistics with only 15 percent of the nearly 10,000 gasoline stations currently operating in the state." "We could meet refueling logistics with only 15 percent of gasoline stations currently operating in CA" - Bob Carter This made us wonder: if the refueling time and range are roughly equivalent between hydrogen and gasoline – Toyota's hydrogen car is supposed to be able to go 300 miles on a five-minute fill-up - then why has the market decided that there should be 10,000 gas stations in California and why would 1,500 be sufficient for hydrogen? "If the locations are optimized," he said, "we don't need 10,000 stations." For example, at major intersections, instead of three gas stations, you'd really just need a single hydrogen one. "There are a lot of questions about the infrastructure, but it's coming. ... It's a hurdle that we've got to climb but it's not as steep as some may imagine." Toyota's Mike Michaels, the national manager, media and public affairs at Toyota Motor Sales, then stepped in to point out that there are gas stations closing and admitted that there might be too many gas stations in California.

Toyota reaffirms commitment to body-on-frame SUVs

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

Toyota sold 121,055 Highlander CUVs in 2012, according to Automotive News. By comparison, it sold 78,457 examples of four different body-on-frame, truck-based SUVs (4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Sequoia and Land Cruiser). One could argue then, that the traditional SUVs aren't pulling their weight from a sales perspective. Yet that isn't stopping Toyota from reaffirming its commitment to a segment that has seen its former champions - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler - abandon it with alarming speed. Ford and GM still offer body-on frame utilities, but only in the very largest offerings, catering to seven or even eight passengers. Everything outside of the Expedition or Tahoe rides now on a unibody.
Toyota's decision to stick with the technology is good news if you're in the market for smaller SUVs that are still capable of heading well off the beaten path. Outside of the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee (a unibody) and perhaps Nissan Xterra, there's not much in terms of capable SUVs between $20,000 and $50,000. As the Toyota brand's US head, Bill Fay, says, "Clearly, the trend has shifted, but there is still an owner base that is interested in these vehicles."
We don't doubt Fay on that, but it may also be somewhat telling that Toyota's SUV lineup is aging, and we haven't seen or heard much about replacement models in the pipeline. Admittedly, the 4Runner (pictured) has been facelifted for 2014, but it's mostly cosmetic in nature. Despite Toyota's posturing, we still expect its body-on-frame lineup to thin in the coming years as sales dwindle and escalating fuel-economy standards make business cases even tougher. Here's hoping that Toyota manages to keep at least one rough-and-tumble SUV in its lineup in the coming years.

Toyota launches new Pixis Epoch kei car in Japan

Sat, 12 May 2012

Kei cars may be small in size, but they're big business in Japan. The latest arrival to the category is the little hatch you see above, the Toyota Pixis Epoch.
It's the fourth vehicle produced by the Daihatsu division but sold under the Toyota brand. As with other keis, power comes from a 660cc engine. It's mated to a continuously variable transmission driving either just the front wheels or all four. In both configurations, the Pixis Epoch features a stop-start system that helps its emissions and fuel efficiency figures come in well below even the Japanese government's stringent standards.
The whole package measures just 3,395 mm (133 inches) long, 1,475 mm (58 inches) wide and 1,500 mm (59 inches) tall, but offers a relatively spacious and utile interior, plus a tight turning radius of just 4.4 meters. Pricing ranges from 795,000 to 1.2 million yen - that's less than $10,000 (and no more than $15k). Further details in the press release after the jump.
