Selling my 2014 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport with just over 3,000 miles on it

I bought this truck new in early January of 2014 from local Toyota dealer. My intent when I bought this truck was to keep it long term so I was very specific in what I wanted in color, options, etc. so ultimately the dealer had to local and bring this truck from another Toyota dealership in the St. Louis area. As I mentioned, my intent was to get the truck I wanted and keep it for a long time as my daily driver between work and home (< 5 miles each way) and on weekends although we typically drive my wife's SUV. In late April 2014 I took a different position which provides me a company work-truck to drive. After several months of deliberating and seeing my Tacoma sit in the garage week-after-week with only occasional weekend driving I have decided to sell my Tacoma as I can't justify a vehicle sit in the garage not being driven 95% of the time.

Because of the limited opportunity I've had to drive this vehicle I've only put approximately 3,000 miles on it since purchasing in January of 2014.

Info about this truck:

  • 2014 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab 4-door pickup with the TRD Sport package
  • 4.0L DOHC 24V V6 VVT-I 236 hp
  • 5-speed automatic
  • 4 wheel drive - Hi/Lo
  • Magnetic Gray Metallic exterior
  • Gray Sport Water-resistant seats
  • 17" alloy wheels and P265/65R17 tires
  • Air conditioning
  • Power windows, door locks, & mirrors
  • 6.1" Toyota Entune multimedia bundle including touchscreen, AM/FM radio, CD, bluetooth audio, USB, voice recognition,
  • Integrated back-up camera
  • Bluetooth hands-fee for cell phone with steering wheel audio & phone controls
  • 120v power outlet built into bed
  • Towing package with class-IV receiver hitch, transmission oil cooler, engine oil cooler, 130 amp alternator, 7-pin connector
  • Auto-dimming rear view mirror with compass and homelink garage door opener (I had this added as the truck didn't come with it)
  • WeatherTech custom floor mats for this truck (truck came with Toyota's all weather floor mats but I didn't feel they were as durable as WeatherTech so put these in instead)
  • Toyota TRD chrome exhaust tip (ordered this and installed when I picked the truck up)
  • Both keys and remote key fobs
  • Balance of 3-year/36,000 mile warranty
This truck is for all practical purposes brand new. I ordered this exactly how I wanted it and added the bottom items to make the truck mine and ensure that it was kept in excellent condition. Had I not been provided a company vehicle I would not be selling this truck but again, just cannot justify this truck sitting all week for minimal weekend driving.

Recharge Wrap-up: Model X pinch sensor update, Karma plans first store

Fri, Aug 26 2016

Tesla has improved Model X pinch sensor function in its latest over-the-air update. As we've seen, the pinch sensors already stop the falcon wing doors from completely shutting when they sense an obstruction. Now, though, the doors retract slightly after the sensors are triggered. While the pre-update doors didn't appear to do as much damage to human fingers as they do to various foodstuffs, it definitely looked uncomfortable, especially when one's hand is stuck in the partially closed door. Now, any pinch that does occur should be brief. See the updated sensors at work in the video above, and read more from Teslarati. Karma Automotive will move to Kawasaki's former headquarters in Irvine, California where it will also open its first store. The revival of the now defunct Fisker will sell its Revero plug-in hybrid through both dealerships and company-owned stores like the one planned for its new two-building campus. The property owner, Bixby, had planned to renovate the site, but now says Karma will make its own improvements. Bixby said it was seeking, "a progressive-minded tenant that would value the unique configuration," and appears to have found just that in Karma. Read more at Electrek, or from the OC Register. San Francisco is asking residents for help in expanding its subways. Using an online tool called Subway Vision, users can draw their own subway lines and stations that they'd like to see built and submit them to planners. Listening to the public is a useful tool for the city because, as Grahm Satterwhite, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency's principal planner, admits, "Transportation planners may be too close to a problem to see the solution." This approach allows the subway expansions to "reflect the vision of not just a few transportation planners, but of all San Franciscans," he says. Read more from FastCo.Exist. Toyota is continuing its commitment to Yellowstone National Park with a sustainable Youth Campus for environmental education. The automaker donated $1 million to Yellowstone for the facility, which is seeking Living Building Challenge certification. It will have onsite wastewater treatment for its locally sourced water usage, and will generate all of its electricity needs from photovoltaic panels, with excess to put back into the grid. The campus will have classrooms and residences for students and staff for its youth programs.

Toyota launches updated Yaris in Europe, Vitz in Japan [w/videos]

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Toyota first launched the Yaris in 1999, though that model was sold in the North America as the Echo. The second generation arrived in 2005, replaced by the third in 2011. Sometime next year, Toyota is expected to roll out a new Yaris for North America, to be built in Mexico on the same platform as the next Mazda2. But before that comes to pass, Toyota has introduced a mild facelift for the Yaris in markets other than ours.
With styling cues borrowed from the new Aygo and the Yaris Hybrid-R concept, the new Yaris (for Europe) and Vitz (for Japan) are distinguished by updated styling front and rear. Though the European model bears a more aggressive look than the JDM version, both feature the new X motif that seems to be the new look for the whole family - particularly for small hatchbacks.
The back end has also been revised to incorporate new LED taillights and a (faux) diffuser in the bumper. The cabin, meanwhile, has been redesigned to feel roomier and quieter with upgraded equipment. The suspension has also been refined, and in Europe at least, Toyota will continue to offer the Yaris with a choice of 1.0- or 1.3-liter gasoline engines, 1.4-liter diesel or hybrid powertrains.

Half of Chinese car buyers won't shop Japanese over hard feelings

Mon, May 26 2014

The hard feelings between China and Japan is no real secret. Besides modern-day disputes, the two countries have had a long-running enmity that dates back to well before the atrocities of World War II. All things considered, then, it shouldn't be a shock that half of Chinese car buyers wouldn't consider a Japanese car. This survey, conducted by Bernstein Research, found that 51 percent of 40,000 Chinese consumers wouldn't even consider a Japanese car – which, again, isn't really surprising, when you consider stories like this. According to Bernstein, the most troubling thing is the location of these sentiments – smaller, growing cities where the population is going to need sets of wheels. We imagine it wouldn't be as big of an issue in traffic-clogged Shanghai or Beijing, but these small cities are going to become a major focus for automakers. "Nationalistic feelings are an impediment. [Japanese] premium brands will struggle," analyst Max Warburton wrote in a research note, according to The Wall Street Journal. Things will improve for Japanese makes, although China will remain a challenge, with Warburton writing, "the one thing that comes out most clearly is that most Chinese really want a German car. While we expect Japanese brands to continue to recover market share this year, ultimately the market will belong to the Germans." There are a few other insights from the study. According to WSJ, Japanese brands are viewed better than Korean brands, and they're seen as more comfortable than the offerings from Germany or the US, despite the fact that everyone in China apparently wants a German car. This is a tough position for the Japanese makes to be in, as there's really not a lot they can do to win favor with Chinese buyers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, particularly as the importance of the PRC continues to increase year after year.
