2004 Toyota Tacoma Extra-cab Trd, Lifted, Winch, Bumpers on 2040-cars
Woodstock, Vermont, United States
This is a perfect entry level overlanding vehicle. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Incredibly well-maintained by Performance Unlimited in Woodstock. All service up to date including the dreaded timing belt, new radiator, front CVs and rear e-locker mechanism. New Tom Wood rear draft as well. Radio does not work (antenna's missing), but cassette and CD players do and speakers work great.
Modifications: Trail Gear winch bumper, rear bumper, nerfed rock sliders 8000 lb T-max winch with synthetic line Full underbody skid-plating including Skid Row steering and radiator plate Custom Performance Unlimited gas tank skid plate Radio Shack CB radio with 4' whip antenna tuned perfectly Five 15" aluminum wheels with five 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2s with 70--80% life left Tacomas make for great daily driver wheeling rigs. We drove this truck to the San Juans in Colorado and back last year at 75 mph and wheeled every trail while we were there. The setup on this particular truck makes it possible to wheel very difficult trails without sacrificing on-road performance. Plus, all of the drivetrain components are stock so the truck is very inexpensive to maintain. Again, a great entry-level, one-stop-shopping overlanding/wheeling/daily driver vehicle. Shipping is at buyer's expense, but I'm glad to help arrange it. $500 deposit upon conclusion of the auction. Truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. |

NACTOY winners, and driving the Genesis GV60, Polestar 2, Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 | Autoblog Podcast #813
Fri, Jan 5 2024In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Electric, John Beltz Snyder. This week, we discuss the North American Car, Truck and Utility of the year winners: The Toyota Prius, Kia EV6 and Ford Super Duty (and Greg explains his votes). In other news, we talk about GM offering $7,500 incentives for EVs that lost their tax credits, another possible calendar change for the Detroit Auto Show and Stellantis potentially scaling back its auto show presence. Greg spent his winter break with the Genesis GV60 and Polestar 2, while John has been driving the Toyota Prius Prime and Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. Finally, they take to Reddit for this week's Spend My Money question, and pick a sedan under $6,000. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Toyota Prius owners targeted by tire-slashing VA vandal
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Toyota Prius owners aren't bad folks. With a few exceptions, they're just normal people that appreciate the comfortable, high-mileage hybrid. Someone in Arlington, Virginia doesn't see it that way, though, as 14 examples (and one Smart) had at least one tire slashed last Sunday night.
The serial tire-slasher didn't any items from the vehicles, but he or she has left owners with substantial bills and sour dispositions. According to a report from ABC affiliate WJLA, some citizens are considering the matter a hate crime.
Despite the targeting of Toyota hybrids and the acquisition of one fingerprint, police have been unable to make any arrests, as the slasher has targeted vehicles across the county. Take a look at the local news report from WJLA below.
J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998
Wed, 12 Feb 2014For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.
