1997 Toyota Tacoma Lx Extended Cab Original Paint 4x4 Excellent Condition! on 2040-cars
Akron, Ohio, United States
Up for auction is my 1997 Toyota Tacoma extended cab pick up. I have owned it for a little over 5 years, had it shipped from Florida to Ohio. It has had the Toyota frame check performed, rust free. Has been treated each fall with a petroluem based rust inhibitoir. No rust. Original Paint, you get what you see. Has only been brush touched. Never wrecked. I am only selling it because of the need of a double cab truck. It was smoked in prior to my owning it. The interior is overall clean, with the exception of the worn drivers seat cover. (see photo) and a few cigarrette burns from the previous owner. This truck starts, runs and drives exactly as it should, with no weird sounds or noises. It has the "bullet proof" 2.7 liter 4 cylinder matched to the 5 speed manual transmission with four wheel drive that all operate as they should. Flaws: Back up lights do not work. Clock does not work. The rear bumper is rusty and dented. A/C does not blow cold. The cassette player does not appear to work. (the CD player works fine, as well as the am/fm radio.) The windshield washer bottle leaks fluid, it had water in it when it arrived from Florida, never replaced, and froze in Ohio winter. The pump works, easy fix, JB Weld will fix it. Other than the above mentioned flaws, all factory installed options operate as they should. The bright side: Oil and filter have been changed every 3,000 to3,500 miles since my purchase. Uses no oil between changes. 143k, 3 belts, plugs and wires. (previous to my owning it) 149,500 Transmission rebuilt. Rebuild kit, bearing, input shaft, cluster gear installed. New clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing (Luk Made in Wooster Ohio USA ) fly wheel re surfaced. 150,126 Tires installed. 151,000 clutch slave cylinder installed. 151,200 clutch master cylinder installed. 157,857 Front rotors and pads replaced. 161,000 Parking brake cable replaced. 09/26/2010 Duralast battery installed. 170,566, New radiator, upper and lower hoses, up stream o2sensor replaced. 176,440, Brake master cylinder. 178,500, Valve cover gasket replaced. 179,386, alternator replaced. 09/2013 windshield replaced. 09/2013 Down stream o2 sensor replaced Both head lamps replaced Sept. 2013. Receipts for the above maintainance will go with the truck. All original paperwork goes with the truck, owners manual, window sticker ($25,291), alarm brochure, 2 keys and 1 remote.
I have done my best to give an accurate description, both the good and the not so good. Bid with confidence. Inspection and test drives are welcome. $500.00 deposit within 72 hours. Balance due within 7 days of auction end. The truck will not be released until all funds clear my bank. Shipping costs and arrangements will be paid for by the buyer. I will assist any way I can at the time of actual pick up if truck is being shipped. Local, in person pick up is welcome.
All questions will be answered. Thank you for looking at my listing, and Happy Bidding!

Toyota temporarily idles pair of Indian plants due to labor unrest
Thu, 20 Mar 2014The Detroit News reported today that Toyota will restart production at two Indian plants, following a shutdown on Monday.
Factory labor, management and police in Asia engage in the kind of violent altercations that we're not used to, having almost entirely walked away from the overtly brutal relations epitomized by the Pinkerton Detective Agency and the Flint Sit-Down Strike. In India, a plant owned by a Ford transmission supplier plant was shut down in 2009 after incidents between workers and armed men around the same time as Ssangyong workers occupied a factory in South Korea, in 2012 Suzuki Maruti workers rioted over wages around the same time upset employees beat a ceramics factory president to death in retaliation for a labor leader's killing.
Toyota is the latest to company trying to avoid that road. The Detroit Free Press reported earlier this week that it shut down two plants in India after 11 months of acrimonious wage negotiations and arbitration have gone nowhere. Toyota said the plant workers in Bidadi, near Bangalore, had deliberately stopped production at times over the past 45 days and threatened management. The workers said they wanted their wages raised by an amount already agreed to by management, but that management had reneged; news reports weren't clear on the amount, some saying nearly 10,000 rupees ($165 US) more per month, another saying 4,000 rupees ($65 US), but reports agree that Toyota has said it will only go as high as 3,050 rupees ($50 US).

HQ move based on study, not pitch from Gov. Perry, Toyota says
Tue, 29 Apr 2014Toyota's surprising announcement on Monday that it will move its North American headquarters from Torrance, CA location to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX is allegedly not due to any political wrangling from the state's Republican governor, Rick Perry.
Perry (above) has been up front in his aggressive pursuit of businesses and jobs for Texas, traveling to California, Missouri, Illinois and New York to tempt corporations to his state. And it's not just about the promise of much lower taxes, a Perry spokesman reminds Automotive News that the state boasts, "a workforce that is skilled and ready to do any job."
For his part, Jim Lentz, Toyota's North American CEO said Plano was chosen through an internal process, with the location helped by its proximity to the company's massive pickup factory in San Antonio rather than any campaigning from the governor.
