1987 Toyota Hilux Diesel Double Cab on 2040-cars
St. George, Utah, United States
1987 Toyota Hilux Diesel double cab. This truck is one of very few double cab hilux to make it to US soil. I purchased and used this truck while I was living in Central America a few years ago. When I moved back last April I loved it so much that I brought it back with me to the US. This truck came equipped with the sought after solid front axle from the factory, the rare (in the US anyways) 2.4 liter naturally aspirated Toyota 2L diesel engine and the even more desirable double cab. This truck is a head turner, I get so many comments and compliments everywhere I go. I am going to miss this truck, but I am going to be going back to Central America soon and do not want to go through the export and re-importation process after already paying the import and duty fees in the US. This thing has almost brand new tires, and almost brand new full exhaust from the manifold back. This truck is not in perfect condition it is 27 years old. I am not sure what the gearing is but it is geared quite low. On the freeway I usually go about 65 and it sure takes a minute to even get going that fast. It does have a factory limited slip rear diff which makes this thing awesome off road. It is alot more at home off the road than on the road. It is not made to go anywhere fast but it is made to go anywhere. I would be happy to answer any question that you might have. The VIN NUMBER IS: LN650055243. I can be reached at 435-272-7863 or 435-817-0801. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
UPDATE: I have alot more high resolution photos but ebay only lets me upload 24. Please message me your email address with what pictures you would like and I will forward them on to you. Thanks. |

Toyota Camry could lose No. 1 sedan spot next year [w/video]
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Eleven months after Toyota claimed the 2012 sales crown a couple of months early thanks to the Camry, the headlines this year have been quite a bit different to last. Even though the Camry remains the best selling car so far in 2013 and its volume has increased year-on-year, it has lost market share due to the 20-percent sales explosion in the midsize segment. That means people are buying more of the competitor offerings like the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion - the Altima, in fact, outsold the Camry by 100 units in March.
In July it was reported that Toyota was upping Camry incentives and fleet sales to keep its lead and that dealer inventory was climbing as, again, competitors got better at fighting the champion. In August Ford doubled down on production of the Fusion, adding a line in Flat Rock, MI to keep up with demand.
Bloomberg has a report looking at the numbers behind the Camry's dominance, as well as what appears to be a recorded group interview with Toyota USA CEO Jim Lentz, and wonders aloud whether the Camry will be able to hold its top spot in 2014. Barring catastrophe it has this year locked up, being more than 30,000 sales ahead of the next-best seller as of the end of August, but it has done so with higher incentives and lower transaction prices than its competitors. According to Strategic Vision the Camry's consideration rate among consumers has also declined by a percentage point, while the consideration rate for the Accord and Fusion has increased by one point and two points, respectively.
Chevy Bolt wins 2017 Green Car of the Year
Thu, Nov 17 2016We knew that a plug-in vehicle was going to win the 2017 Green Car of the Year award this year, given that all five finalists have a way to charge up. And when Ron Cogan, the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal, announced the winner – the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV – he said that the car itself represents one of those times in the auto industry when everything is about to change. Similar to the invention of the starter motor, things are about to get different. For now, though, the fact that the Bolt EV won an award sounds like the same old thing all over again. Just this week, it was named Motor Trends Car of the Year and to the Car And Driver Top 10 list. The other four finalists for Green Car of the Year included the Toyota Prius Prime, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Kia Optima (including hybrid and plug-in hybrid models) and the BMW 330e iPerformance. Last year, the winner was the 2016 Chevy Volt. Did Green Car Journal make the right selection this year? See the award ceremony below.
Minivan market not what it used to be, but margins make up for it
Thu, 05 Jun 2014
Residual values for last year's minivans are higher than they were in 2000.
Much like the station wagon was the shuttle of Baby Boomer generation, the minivan has been the primary means of transport for Generations X and Y. Just as the boomers abandoned the Country Squire, though, those kids that were toted around in Grand Caravans and Windstars are adults, and they certainly don't want to be seen in the cars their parents drove.
