Toyota Supra Twin Turbo on 2040-cars
Silver Spring, Maryland, United States
Up for sale is a mint condition 98 Supra targa top original stock twin turbo. This is my third supra and at the same time it's the best one I have seen! I have to sell it due to my new apartment living and having it parked in a storage. I have invested almost 20k in past couple months to have a brand new stock supra. Car was stolen more than 10 years ago and recovered shortly after (that's why there is a salvage title). There was never any accident and the car was always garage kept. I have all the records and service invoices since the car exists. Interior is original, with black leather seats, I would rate it 8 out of 10 (driver seat is more worn out than the rest). Exterior has original paint, few small scratches on the front bumper from regular driving ( 9 out of 10). I just got brand new engine installed couple weeks ago at JE Imports in Baltimore. It's still in breaking-in stage with 150 miles on it and one year warranty from the manufacturer and the shop. Here is the description of what has been done to the car:
- New toyota short block - head and valves service - all new gaskets and seals - new pumps and belts - auto transmission rebuilt - new stock injectors - new ignition coils and plugs - new hoses - new thermostat - additional transmission oil cooler - turbos were serviced - new fuel pump - all fluids are new - still running stage one breaking-in Motul oil - new rear hubs - new stock suspension with lowered Tein springs - new rotors - extra set of stock chrome wheels will be included with the car (not on the pictures) - new Toyota signs will be included with the car (it's too cold to glue them now) The car is mechanically brand new and stock. Adult owned all it's life! The car was driven only in nice weather therefore there is no rust or salt damage. I hate to get rid of it because my living situation has changed and I don't have the parking garage any more so I have to sell it. There are couple extras that come with the car as well: - Seibon carbon fiber hood - RMM taillights - Blitz boost gauge - Pioneer head unit with DVD player - Rear view camera I am not in a rush to sell so please don't low ball me or waste my time. I will consider reasonable offers! I just had the car appraised by classic car company so I know what it's worth with all new parts. The car is available for anyone who wants to see it so email me if interested. Thanks for checking it out. |

2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Toyota offers many flavors of its refreshed 2015 Camry, but those who choose to lower their operating cost-per-mile, squeeze 500-plus miles out of each tank of fuel or run a very efficient and reliable sedan in their taxi fleets will only be interested in one: the Camry Hybrid.
The exterior of the 2015 Camry Hybrid is nearly indistinguishable from its gasoline-only counterparts, with the same all-new sheetmetal and bumpers. The Hybrid is offered in LE, SE and XLE trims, meaning customers are offered base, sport or luxury configurations, respectively.
While Toyota expended quite a bit of effort resculpting and improving the 2015 Camry Hybrid, one area it didn't touch was the powertrain - it is virtually identical to last year's model (just like the gas version). Under the hood is a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine (156 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque) and an electric tractive motor (141 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque). Combined, and running through Toyota's unique Hybrid Synergy Drive electronic continuously variable transmission, the two produce 200 horsepower (Toyota does not list a combined torque figure, and we've asked for clarification). A 1.6 kilowatt-hour nickel-metal-hydride battery, packaged behind the rear seats, provides energy storage.
Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names
Tue, Mar 17 2015Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'
Mon, 27 Oct 2014The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.
