One of the best examples in the country. Unmolested, adult owned, perfect working order. Engine is extremely strong. The 1987 was the first full year of production for the MKIII Supra and was the first Supra to break away from the Celica with a completely different body style. The MKIII is widely thought to be the best looking Supra. The in-line 6 cylinder turbocharged engine produces approximately 230 brake horsepower at the wheels and can be easily modified to produce much, much more. Some have well over 800hp. The engine is mated to a Toyota R-154 5 speed transmission and limited-slip differential. While this particular car is in excellent condition inside and out, it is also a daily driver. A/C does a great job of keeping things cool inside. All mechanical and electrical components on the car are fully functional. This car can be driven across the country tomorrow without concern, although I would stay clear of snow covered or icy roads. The stereo has been upgraded and has IPOD connectivity. Details about next-gen Toyota Prius emerge
Tue, 28 Jan 2014The Toyota Prius is undeniably the king of the hybrid market in the United States, with a 39.4 percent market share in 2013. With the next-generation Prius likely to go on sale in 2015, Toyota is trying to build an even more efficient hybrid to keep its control of the market.
Keeping cost down will be one of the major concerns of the new Prius. The next generation will ride on the new, modular Toyota New Global Architecture platform. The lighter underpinnings will improve efficiency and will reduce production costs by allowing for more shared components among vehicles. Toyota will not reveal how many vehicles will use the new platform. But even with the cheaper platform, price will remain a concern. Toyota is still deciding whether all versions of the next Prius will use lithium-ion batteries or whether some models will stick with the heavier nickel-metal hydride batteries to keep cost down.
Of course, the reason most people buy the Prius is because of its great fuel efficiency. Toyota will aim for at least an 8 percent improvement in fuel economy in the next Prius, which would increase it to 58 miles per gallon city and 52 mpg highway.
NHTSA investigating 561k Toyota Prius hybrids for possible steering shaft defect
Mon, 25 Feb 2013The Detroit News is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will investigate some 561,000 Toyota Prius models for potentially defective steering shafts. The affected hybrid models are from the 2004-2009 model years. The story indicates that NHTSA is weighing whether or not to grant a defect petition, which claims that Toyota incorrectly assembled the hatchback's steering linkage.
As of this writing, there is no recall. However, a recall based on the Prius steering shaft would be the third related to steering issues for the model since 2006. Seven years ago, Toyota recalled 170K Prius models for potential cracking of the intermediate shafts, and in November of 2012, the automaker recalled 670K units to replace the steering shaft extension assembly.
We'll be monitoring NHTSA's signals to see if this investigation turns into a full-fledged recall. For now, stay tuned.
Watch this cement truck roll into Toyota minivan from driver's point of view
Thu, 10 Apr 2014If you've been having an easy day and haven't received your daily dose of unmitigated terror, then this video is for you. Dr. Guan Zhu, a Texas A&M professor, caught the above view on his dashcam in College Station, TX, as a cement truck ran a red light, lost control and rolled into his Toyota Sienna minivan.
Although he received only minor injuries, Dr. Zhu says that he blacked out during the accident. The truck driver also avoided serious injuries, and the Sienna took the hit rather well too.
