1993.5 Toyota Supra Track Build 3.4 Stroker / Gt47-88 / V160 6spd on 2040-cars
Four Oaks, North Carolina, United States
I am selling a track car project i have been working on for the past year. Listed below is what the car was originally......
1993.5 Toyota Supra TT / Auto trans. / Targa Top / Black on Tan leather / 130k miles This car has never had any body work done. It was painted anthracite. All vin tags are in place. I am selling this car with no title, only a bill of sale. A salvage title can be obtained no problem at all but since for me it would not see the road i did not apply for a salvage title yet. The honest truth about the title situation is this. I purchased the vehicle locally from a father and son working on the car as a father/son project. They had the car for 4 years. They had never taken the title to DMV because they started taking apart the engine as soon as they bought the car and it was never on the road then the son got bored and the car sat. 4 years later the dad lists the car locally and wants it out of the garage. Title was lost in their messy home and the person they bought it from could not be reached. That person would of had to go get a duplicate title. Was fine by me since i just wanted to do a build for the track. Currently the title sits lost somewhere in the house of this family in VA beach VA. I removed the engine, trans, drive shaft, A/C system, ABS system which all was done very carefully. I purchased a fully built long block stroker engine, 4788 turbo setup, new harness, and 30k mile V160 trans. for the build. The build was intended for drag. 1500rwhp and an 8 sec 1/4. Engine info. - GTE block decked, bored .020 over to fit CP stroker pistons, 1/2 cement fill, block painted anthracite, drilled for 1/2 inch head studs - BC 3.4 crank 94mm piston stroke - Carillo rods and CP forged pistons - Titan billet mains - ARP 1/2 inch head studs - ARP main cap studs - Virtual Works racing 2 quart extra oil sump. - New toyota water pump - Titan modified oil pump - Welded crank gear - Billet timing belt tensioner - Titan adj cam gears - Enterprise T belt - Boost Logic balancer - Stage 4 ported head - +1 oversized Ferrea valves - BC titanium springs - HKS 280 cams - NGK 8 heat range iridium plugs Motor is turn key from pan up to the plastic spark plug cover The V160 is installed in the car as well along with an Exedy Triple Carbon R clutch Turbo setup is a large runner Boost Logic T6 coated manifold with a single WG port Turbo is a brand new Precision GT47-88 with 360 thrust bearing. Here's the 2017 Toyota 86: Don't call it a Scion
Fri, Feb 5 2016After we heard the bells toll for Scion yesterday, we told you that the Scion FR-S will transform into a Toyota. That's right: just a rebadging. The practical question is, which badge? The philosophical question, which we can't answer yet, is where it'll sit in the pantheon of front-engined, rear-drive Toyota sports cars, of which the Supra was the last one to visit our shores, from 1992 until 1998 in its fourth generation. And as if summoned by this conversation, this camouflaged prototype appeared. Our best guess is that this is going to be the US-bound, Toyota-badged version of the Subaru BRZ and all the other 86-badged variants: the Toyota 86 (in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and South Africa), Toyota GT86 (in Europe and New Zealand again), and Toyota FT86 (in Nicaragua and Jamaica). For simplicity's sake, let's call it a Toyota 86. Peer into the 86's swirly camo, and it looks like the car is going in for a light refresh. The lower intake in the front fascia, if it's representative of a production part, adopts a different shape and is considerably wider and narrower than either the BRZ or FR-S units. It also appears that the turn signal and its surround are reshaped, different than any of the current variants. Changes out back appear mild. The area around the license plate seems to be smoother, and there is likely a predictable light restyle of the bumper skin and defuser under the camo. We don't expect a significant power increase, and certainly not a turbocharger (sorry!), but crossing fingers wouldn't do any harm. Related Video:
2014 Toyota 4Runner Limited
Thu, 08 May 2014What would you say if we told you that outside of Jeep and Land Rover, the best brand for those who want to go off road is Toyota? Sounds remarkable, eh? But the truth is, Toyota's history of providing vehicles for the rougher bits of our blue marble dates back to 1950, barely a decade after Willys built the first Jeeps and only a few years after Land Rover made its big debut with the iconic Series I.
In fact, Toyota's start in off-roaders was with a small contract for providing the US Army with vehicles, during the Korean War. From that, the BJ was spawned. This Jeep-like vehicle evolved into the 20 Series and then into the iconic 40 Series Land Cruiser in the 1960s.
So yes, Toyota knows its way around the trails. While the Land Cruiser, deservedly, gets all the attention thanks to its impressive longevity, we're partial to the 4Runner, which is a far more affordable entry that serves as Toyota's challenger to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
Mon, 21 Oct 2013People, us included, make a big stink about the importance of family sedans. There's no doubt they're critical - they represent a huge slice of the market's annual sales and profits. However, despite accounting for far fewer transactions than the midsize sedan segment, the fullsize sedan is getting attention from manufacturers now that our market's entire lineup of those (slightly) smaller four-doors has turned over in the last two years or so. As most of the fullsize segment's mainstays derive a fair bit of their platform and powertrain technologies from their midsize cousins, these larger four-doors offer the potential for fatter profit margins, too. And with the newly stylish duds found on many of the industry's most successful midsize sedans, it's only right that automakers no longer think about fullsizers as big, squishy, vanilla family haulers with flat seats, vague steering and a thin layer of 'luxury' in the form of faux wood trim.
As manufacturers have again started diving into large sedans feet-first, the cars themselves have become sharper. The interiors are now of a higher quality and loaded with tech, while the exteriors have become further extensions of each manufacturer's design language. There's perhaps no greater example of this than the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Taurus, two models that evolved from subpar offerings into market leaders. This segment-wide transformation happened quite quickly, whether because of coincidental timing or because manufacturers are trying to get more out of their big cars, recognizing they account for a small portion of overall sales (just 3.5 percent of the new-car market in the first half of 2013).
The 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid is one such vehicle. We remarked on the changes to the V6 variant last year, and while we previously had a quick steer of the gas-electric hybrid, we figured the new model was worth a closer week-long look.
