This car is a time capsule. Car has been garaged, washed and waxed regularly for over 22 years! New tires, battery, struts, water pump and interior. Car needs nothing except a driver who can appreciate a great and rare GT. Car looks and drives like a new car. Paint has no defects and has the shine of a new car. I have always been very careful with it and where I park it. So it doesn't have those pesky parking lot dings. Re did the cloth interior and put in $800 two tone neoprene seats. Only 1000 turbos were sold in 90 out of 6000 Supras in total. Car is a head turner. People literally pull me over on the street asking me if I want to sell it. I am finally at the point where I would like to.

I have had the car a long time and I feel I am getting a bit old for it. I am also looking for something more practical and economical. With the turbo car has incredible power and a comfortable highway ride. 80 or 90 mph feels like a crawl on the highway in this car. Interior has been kept out of the sun and I have used various products to keep the plastic/vinyl looking new. There is not a crack or scuff anywhere! Car has been trouble free it's entire life. Is there anything wrong? The hatch does not open from the inside. You need to use a key. The A/C comes out cold, but could blow harder. There is NOT a spec of rust. Paint shines like a new car with a mirror like finish. This is an excellent car for someone who doesn't want to break the bank, but wants a high performing luxury GT.

I am asking above book value for this car because it is in excellent condition and has low mileage. You will not see another Supra around  in this condition. For that matter, you don't see Supras around period. Rare and special car, but I need the money and thrill has worn off. It's ready for someone else who can really appreciate a car like this.

ps. Car also comes with a barely used nose bra and headlight covers. Also replaced shifter with a carbon fiber momo, but still have stock leather one. Car has years of life left. Just needs someone who can really appreciate it. Feel free to contact me and ask me any questions, or to have it inspected.

Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car

Fri, Jan 6 2017

Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.

2015 Toyota Camry ushers in 'sweeping redesign' [w/poll]

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

With a dozen years atop the nation's best-selling car charts, you might think that there wouldn't be a lot of incentive for Toyota to rework its Camry, particularly so early in the life of the current model. But despite its unassailable sales totals, the midsize sedan has come in for substantial criticism for its milquetoast dynamics, piecemeal interiors and bland design.
As part of CEO Akio Toyoda's mantra to build more exciting cars, the 2015 Camry has arrived with a fresh new look and content that goes far beyond the Japanese automaker's typically slight mid-cycle redesigns. Featuring some 2,000 new parts, the 2015 Camry casts a 1.8-inch longer shadow and stretches across a widened track (0.4 inches). And it won't be just the widened track that should help deliver a more dynamic performance - Toyota is citing a stiffer chassis thanks to additional spot welds along with a rejiggered suspension, retuned electric power steering and a new two-stage brake booster for improved braking feel.
A new XSE trim promises the sportiest performance yet, including model-specific shock absorbers and springs, stiffer bushings, unique stability control programming and 18-inch wheels to go along with a unique front end treatment featuring mesh grille inserts and a revised fascia.

2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4x4

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

The Toyota Tundra is the automotive version of off-brand Cheerios: it doesn't dominate the market, and it's not the first model people think of when they hear the term "pickup truck."
Ford, General Motors and Ram dominate the segment with vehicles that offer ridiculous levels of towing and payload capacities and models loaded with luxury items and primed with tech-rich engines. The off-brands, meanwhile, are led by the Tundra, which while still accounting for six-figure sales (112,732 units in 2013, up from 101,621 in 2012), sits well behind the F-150s and Silverados of the world. After our first drive of the revamped 2014 Tundra, we came away thinking this truck is a total underachiever, aimed at placating Toyota loyalists and doing little to win over new customers.
But everybody deserves a second chance, and we thought a week's drive in a different environment might lead to a different - or at least a more fully realized - opinion. While the Tundra might not be an industry leader, it still makes it on many truck buyers' shopping lists. So, should you consider this off-brand pickup truck? To find out, we borrowed a top-of-the-line Tundra Platinum for a week. Read on to see what we found.
