1986 Toyota Supra One Owner, All Original, Nice Condition Throughout, Zero Rust! on 2040-cars
Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
* 1986 TOYOTA Celica SUPRA "P" * (Last Year MK II)
Before you and up for bid is my 1986 TOYOTA SUPRA "P" (performance) sport model hatchback. These cars are of significance in automotive history. The particulars of the Supra are as follows: * One adult owner, purchased new from Alamo Toyota in San Antonio,Texas. Owned & driven for 27 years in Austin,Texas, then stored and occasionally driven in Colorado, these past 2 years. * Low mileage for the year, only 172,118 actual miles. * CARFAX certified NO ACCIDENT history, ownership & miles. * A SOLID Texas car, guaranteed to be ZERO RUST. When considering the purchase of one of these Supra's, the most important aspect for one to look for is RUST. By virtue of inherent "drainage design" issues, these cars were notorious for rust in specific areas. Observe the pictures of the quarter panels, rockers, spare tire compartment, under the doors, and the rear hatch lip, the car is rust free. * A garaged & pampered, non-smoker, no pets, food or beverages. * All original, it has never been in any accidents, nor has it has been restored. Overall, the car is in very good condition. The paint is original, and therefore after 27 years of Texas sun, thin on the hood and roof. It also has some clouding along the sides. * The interior has been very well preserved. I would rate it a 9 out of 10. * Black over black/gray interior, this is considered to be the best color combination. * Inline Twin Cam 6 cylinder engine, produced 161 horsepower in this last year. (160 in 1985) Factory stock, never modified or abused. * These MK II Supra's, as they are known, were manufactured between 1982-1986. Fully imported from Japan. When considering one for purchase, the choice is personal as to whether a first or last year is better. In the case of 1986 Supra's, ALL 1986 models were leftover 1985 models titled as 1986 models. Toyota's delay of the introduction of the MK IIl Supra is this cars reason for being. There are clearly not many true (titled) 1986 models. They are therefore, quite rare. Production date code of August, 1985. To distinguish a 1986 from a 1985 model, one need only look to the rear of the car. For in 1986, the government saw to the arrival of the mandated third brake light. It is mounted beneath the rear deck spoiler. Once the 1986 model arrived during mid year, it was the redesigned MK lll, and indeed those cars were titled as 1986.5 vehicles. * 5- Speed manual transmission, shifts fine through all gears as well as into reverse. The clutch is fine. * Full power, windows, mirrors and locks, they all operate properly. * Cruise Control * Factory Power Sunroof, fully operational forward and back, no leaks. * Toyota factory AM/FM/Cassette w/graphic equalizer, it still plays fine. * Power antenna, works properly * Very good carpets throughout * Good headliner, no sags or tears * Near perfect dash, there are two small splits at the windshield, they are very narrow and only run a couple of inches each, (see pic) no warping. "Dash Mat" protective cover. * The front seats are in good condition, they slide properly, are supportive, and show little wear, the drivers side support bladder's and inflation hand pump operate properly. * The rear seat was generally folded down and saw minimal use, it is in great shape. * Leather wrapped steering wheel w/tilt feature, showing only slight wear at the bottom position. * Factory AC, presently it is not blowing cold, it has not been retrofitted. * Excellent heat, defrost, ventilation, etc. * All buttons, switches and control knobs are present, there is nothing broken or missing. * Excellent Supra factory aluminum alloy wheels, they do not have any curb rash. * Full size original spare alloy, in new condition, as it has not been used, the original Dunlop tire is present along with the original jack and tire tool. * BFG T/A radials (4) these were purchased at the same time, they have approximately 50% tread wear remaining. * Original owners manual, service records, supplemental operational pamphlets and keys are included. * All original Toyota glass, no windshield cracks or chips * All gaskets and weather stripping are soft & pliable * Nice door panels, the drivers side arm rest has two small nicks * Nice rear panels * Nice console, the armrest storage lid has been reupholstered, the courtesy remote map light Toyota built into the console is still present. * Emergency brake works great * The interior panels rear panels were removed to detail the car, are all in excellent condition, no broken tabs anywhere. * The rear hatch carpet is in excellent shape, no fraying, tears or fading. * Hatch and hood strut cartridges operate properly * Rear hatch retractable cargo shade is present and in good shape * Other than the aged paint, at 29 years of age, the car still looks good and drives great, it goes down the road effortlessly at 75, and stops assuredly. It is still a very tight car. * The car runs strong, cylinder compression is between 148-155, mechanically, it is very sound, there are NO annoying drips or leaks. I removed the seats, console and rear panels to thoroughly clean the carpeting. I also photo documented the interior with the aforementioned parts removed, so as to illustrate that the car is indeed RUST FREE! Recent service included new NGK plugs and wires, fresh fluids, (oil and coolant)and filters. The belts and hoses are recent, there are also extra Toyota belts that will be included. * All safety features, horn, lights, directionals, emergency flashers, wipers, etc., are fully operational * Both headlights operate properly in unison. * This car has so much potential, firstly, because it is rust free, secondly, because it has never been wrecked. It would be easy to take it down to metal, put a quality paint job on it, then drive and enjoy it. An inexpensive and iconic classic sports car, it receives comments most everywhere it goes. It is also a great candidate for an ITS racer or drift car. These cars are becoming increasingly rarer in this condition, being rear wheel drive, many were converted for racing purposes. As with most Toyota's, these cars are known for their excellent drivability and reliability. You are bidding to purchase the Supra, not to be the first to look at it. Please have your funding in place prior to placing your bid. Thank you. Inspections are welcome and will be facilitated to the best of my ability prior to the auction concluding. The car and I are located in the Colorado Springs vicinity. Transportation and or delivery is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I believe that the car could be driven home safely to anywhere in America. If you choose to fly in and drive home, I will gladly pick you up from the airport in Colorado Springs. Trailered delivery is possible in the lower 48 states for $1000.00 (non-negotiable) I can also recommend a reputable shipper for you, if needed. If you choose to ship the car, I will coordinate with your chosen shipper. I have set a fair & reasonable reserve for the Supra. Please don't ask what it is. Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay for the RARE and RUST FREE last year 1986 Toyota Celica Supra that you see before you. A $1000.00 initial payment is due within 24 hours VIA PayPal. The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer. I prefer a legitimate bank to bank wire trasfer for the balance, as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties. I will accept PayPal for the balance, however, ONLY if the buyer pays ALL PayPal related fees including the intial payment fee. (approx. $30 per $1000.00) The car and title will not be released until payment in full has been received. Clear Colorado title. If you are new to eBay, have 0% feedback, less than 10 eBay transactions, or excessive negative feedback, you will need to CALL ME prior to placing your bid and express your intentions. Otherwise, your bid will be cancelled and you will be blocked from further bidding. This simple guideline is in place to protect the integrity of the auction from individuals that bid on items, win auctions, and then fail to fulfill their purchase commitment(s). Thank you. I answer my phone quicker than I respond to e-mail. If you have any questions, call me directly. If you reach my voice mail, leave me a message and I will return your call promptly. Ebay provides for 24 pictures. I have selected pictures that best present a concise overview of the car. If you would like any area specific pictures, simply request them. If you would like to present a "buy it now", call and present your offer. DO NOT call and ask me, "what's the lowest that you'll take?" (Be thinking in the $5-$6 range) Buyers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence. I am not a dealer, I am a collector/hobbyist. My plan was to restore the Supra, however, I recently underwent shoulder surgery which affected my timeline. In turn, another project is ready to be undertaken which requires the space presently occupied by the Supra. I strive to thoroughly and accurately represent the condition of a vehicle. Those that have purchased my cars are consistantly pleased with their vehicle, their expectations exceeded. Continued 100% eBay customer satisfaction is of importance to me. Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid! Jeff (719)-492-1234, c

Car thief caught in McDonald's drive-thru after placing order with owner
Mon, 20 May 2013If you're going to drive a stolen car in a town of roughly 77,000 people - about the same size as Scranton, Pennsylvania or Ogden, Utah - you want to be very careful about where you drive that stolen car to eat. That's the lesson Katherine York of Kennewick, Washington learned when she was arrested for being in possession of a stolen Toyota 4Runner that also happened to have a bunch of stolen clothes from JC Penney and Sears in it.
Virginia Maiden woke up Tuesday, May 14 to find her 1995 4Runner - that she thought she forgot to lock - swiped from her apartment building. At 3 PM that afternoon, while working her shift at the drive-thru at McDonald's that day, she saw her truck in line. York hadn't even gone far - the McDonald's is not even five miles from Maiden's apartment. Maiden called the police, they showed up just as York was leaving, and York made another vehicle switch, this time into a black-and-white for a trip to the Benton County jail. They don't have McDonald's there, but she won't have so far to go to eat.
New version of Toyota FT-1 Concept gets racy for Gran Turismo 6
Thu, 07 Aug 2014Gran Turismo 6 has been the preferred marketing springboard for quite a few brands and concept cars since its debut last winter. Specifically the GT Vision concept idea - allowing manufacturers a built-in place to offer up new, original, drivable content - has enticed the likes of Mercedes, Nissan, Volkswagen, Toyota and more to dream big on the digital stage before pulling the sheets back on real concept cars.
In fact, Toyota teamed its live reveal of the FT-1 Concept at the Detroit Auto Show with an in-game launch of the car, just this past January. Looking for a second bite at the GT6 apple, Toyota has just released a teaser video for a new, FT-1 Vision GT version of the same concept.
The company isn't giving us much to go on save for the 30-second video, saying only that the concept was penned by Toyota's Calty Design Research team in California, and that it will "soon be available for download." By the looks of it, the new FT-1 seems to be more of a racecar than the original, without obvious changes to the basic form. No word on whether or not there's a physical concept car in the offing at a yet-to-be-named auto show. Stay tuned.
Italian coachbuilder wraps a modern-day Citroen van in a retro skin
Tue, Oct 6 2020Italian coachbuilder Caselani resurrected an obscure, often-forgotten model from Citroen's past to offer van buyers an additional retro-styled option. Called Type HG, it's based on the current-generation Citroen Jumpy. One of the French carmaker's best-known vintage vans is the Type H, which was built with only minor changes from 1947 to 1981. It's aged into a sought-after classic that's popular as a food truck and as a camper from Paris to Sydney. Few realize Citroen planned to release a smaller model named Type G which looked almost exactly like the H but used an air-cooled flat-twin engine shared with the 2CV. Several prototypes were made, but the project was canned in favor of the 2CV-based, nine-horsepower AU van released in 1951. It's this little-known prototype that only exists in Citroen's official heritage collection and in the minds of the most indoctrinated French car enthusiasts that Caselani chose to bring into the 21st century. And, because the Type G (shown below) was a shrunken copy of the Type H from a design standpoint, making a body kit that fits the Citroen Jumpy was relatively simple. Caselani liberally borrowed styling cues from its modern version of the Type H, which is based on the larger Citroen Jumper sold as the Ram ProMaster in the United States. It adds a new-look front end with a vertical grille, chromed chevrons, and round headlights positioned as far out of the body as regulations permit, corrugated body panels, and a redesigned rear end. Whitewall tires are optionally available. Caselani offers the Type HG as a passenger van, a crew-cab van, and a panel van. Pricing starts at 29,400 euros before taxes are factored in, a sum that represents about $35,000 and that corresponds to a short-wheelbase panel model powered by a 100-horsepower, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. Alternatively, motorists who already own a Jumpy can purchase the transformation kit on its own for 14,800 euros (about $17,500). For added peace of mind, Caselani pointed out the conversion was created with Citroen's input, and the brand authorized the kit. We know what you're thinking: what on earth is a Jumpy? Glad you asked! It's a van positioned in the middle of Citroen's commercial range. It slots between the Berlingo, which competes in the same segment as the Ford Transit Connect, and the Jumper, which is marketed as an alternative to the Ford Transit.
