 1986 TOYOTA SUPRA

This is a nice mk3 supra up for bid. I have over 15 years of experience with these cars, and if your looking at this your probably familiar with them. I had an opportunity to pick this one up and couldn't refuse due to its all original condition and how clean and complete it is.

The story i was given was that the previous owner had a neighbor that bought this car new, an older couple that garage kept it and when they got to old to drive he the "second owner" got the opportunity to buy it. The original owners are from a nice area in Kendal, Miami  The second owner had it for the past 3 years and although his main residence is in California he has a place in Miami and kept it there for a car to use when in town and eventually in hopes for a 2jzgte swap but never got the chance. Not sure how true the story is but the car speaks for itself.

I picked the car up in Miami and drove it back to Melbourne with no problems. Once again I am familiar with these cars and very consciences about them. My plan was to get it to the shop go through it correct any problems and offer it to the next enthusiast. I really enjoy these cars and its rewarding to fix repair or customize them and get to use it until it sells. I don't do this often unless its worth it.

After using the car and finding a few problems and correcting them I am confident the new owner will fall in love just like i did. It needed a TPS sensor which was effecting it automatic shifting pattern. Needed an fuel level sender repair and it started do develop a miss fire which was caused buy a leaking valve cover gaskets that allow oil to fill in the spark plug valley. I installed valve cover gaskets grommets and some fresh Denso platinum spark plugs. I cleaned the engine bay up and boy does she look good.

I have a few more things on my list that i would like to do but may or not get to it prior to sale. Its up for some windshield wiper blades. A light bulb on the third brake light is out, Its missing the plastic engine undertray and the tires although in excellent condition are flat spotted due to it sitting, they are getting better and i re-balanced them but they are still out of round. I want to express that these are the only items that have issues. Nothing that would keep this from being driven as i am driving it every day.

The other issues are cosmetic both plastic bumpers are faded and the rear has some scuff and dent (see picture) Paint still shines but is not perfect has some scratches and a few blisters in the moldings but great for a 20 plus year old car. Also the interior is awesome no rips tear cracks or smells. The only defect is the leather wrapped steering wheel has faded.

OK on to the good things, car is solid right down to the pinch rails, This car has the sport package with TEMS electronic suspension and LSD with a 4.30 gear ratio very desirable. With this package and being a hardtop without ABS make it a very solid rattle free car, and desirable for the ever so popular engine swaps for these cars. This car runs so good that you can actually drive it save for a swap and enjoy the fun. Please feel free to ask any questions about this car and be assured that there wont be any disappointments out side of this description.

Toyota preparing Scion-badged Nissan Juke fighter

Thu, Aug 20 2015

As we've said on multiple occasions, the sub-compact crossover market is The Next Big Thing™. With that in mind, Toyota's lack of a competitor to the new breed of super-small, super-cute crossovers like the Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Jeep Renegade has been especially glaring. But as these photos show, the hole in the Japanese giant's lineup could soon be filled. Our spies captured this heavily disguised prototype testing in the deserts of the American southwest, signaling that Toyota is preparing to wade into the Nissan Juke's space by offering a tiny, but very heavily styled crossover of its own. Our spy photographers call the cute ute's look "aggressive," citing inspiration from the Toyota C-HR concept from the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Based on the meaty wheels and tires and what we can see through the camo, we're inclined to agree with their assessment. Underneath that sheet metal, we're told the new car rides on Toyota's new NGA platform. Like the Juke, a four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission will be on offer, although there's no telling whether Toyota will follow its rival's enthusiast beat and offer a six-speed manual version. What we find most interesting about all of this conjecture, though, is what it means for Scion, rather than its parent. Introducing a small crossover is the next logical step for Toyota's troubled sub-brand, and would serve as a delectable followup to the recently released iA sedan and iM hatch. Such a three-model lineup, when combined with the enthusiast-oriented FR-S, would transform Scion into a force to be reckoned with in the entry level space. Supporting this conjecture isn't too hard, either. As the spy photos show, this camo'd tester is being supported by a xB, the closest thing Scion (or its parent company, for that matter) have to a sub-compact CUV. It's unclear just when this new model will make its debut, but if Toyota hopes to make inroads into this popular new segment, this CUV will need to arrive before its extremely competent rivals can establish a solid foothold. Thanks to smaller engines, vehicle dependability falls for first time in 16 years

Fri, Feb 14 2014

As automakers have made engines smaller and smaller to improve fuel economy, problems in those vehicles have gotten bigger and bigger. That's the synopsis of a J.D. Power vehicle-dependability study, which found that dependability dropped for the first time in 16 years, largely because the proliferation of four-cylinder engines is causing the vehicles to be less reliable. Specifically, the number of problems per 100 vehicles (or what J.D. Power calls PP100) during the past 12 months for 2011 model-year vehicles rose six percent from the year-earlier figures for 2010 model-year cars. Singling out four-cylinder vehicles revealed about a 10-percent increase in problems during the past year. This issues largely related to engine hesitation, rough transmission shifting and lack of power, signaling the inability of vehicle makers to iron out some of the problems in their smaller engines as they strove for better fuel economy. Six- and five-cylinder engines proved far more reliable. Among car brands, BMW's Mini sub-brand came out as least reliable, with 185 problems per 100 vehicles during the past year. Toyota's Lexus badge was easily the most reliable, with just 68 problems per 100 vehicles. Coming in second place was Mercedes-Benz. The overall average was 133. Check out J.D. Power's press release below. J.D. Power Reports: Increased Engine and Transmission Problems Contribute to Decline in Vehicle Dependability for The First Time in More Than 15 Years General Motors Company Receives Eight Segment Awards, While Toyota Motor Corporation Garners Seven and Honda Motor Company Earns Six WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.: o Owners of 3-year-old vehicles (2011 model year) report more problems than did owners of 3-year-old vehicles last year, according to the J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS) released today. The study, now in its 25th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2011 model-year vehicles. Overall dependability is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. The study finds that overall vehicle dependability averages 133 PP100, a 6 percent increase in problems from 126 PP100 in 2013. This marks the first time since the 1998 study that the average number of problems has increased. "Until this year, we have seen a continual improvement in vehicle dependability," said David Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D.

Toyota turning landfill gas into hybrid vehicles, indirectly

Fri, Mar 28 2014

Chamillionaire certainly wasn't referring to the Toyota Avalon or Camry when he rapped about "ridin' dirty" but maybe he'll change his tune soon. That's because some of the future energy sources for the Kentucky factory that makes those two models will come from gas created from the breakdown of solid waste. So the power behind some of the production at Toyota's largest North American factory will indeed be funky. Toyota is working with Waste Services of the Bluegrass to build a network of wells at a nearby landfill in order to collect the gases. Construction of the system starts next month and will be finished by early next year. The upshot is that the system will produce one megawatt of electricity per hour, which is the equivalent to the power used by 800 houses. Last spring, Toyota said it would start producing the Lexus ES at the Kentucky plant after getting almost a $150 million offer from the state. That's because that model is expected to add 50,000 vehicles to the existing production numbers at the plant. And those production numbers are already large, as Toyota makes both the standard and hybrid versions of both the Camry and Avalon there. Mind you, Toyota's not the first to go this route for factory-energy production. In 2011, General Motors' Orion Assembly Plant started getting about 40 percent of its energy for production of models such as the Chevy Sonic and Buick Verano from methane captured from a landfill nearby. The General estimated at the time that the process would cut the company's energy costs by about $1.1 million a year. Check out Toyota's press release about the Kentucky plant and its future landfill gas below. Landfill Gas to Build Cars and a Greener Community Partnership between Toyota and local landfill turns garbage into good March 24, 2014 GEORGETOWN, Ky. (MARCH, 24 2014) – Can a car company be a vehicle for change? Toyota thinks so. The Kentucky plant that manufactures some of the greenest cars on the road, including two hybrid models, will soon be powered in part by green electricity. Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. has teamed up with Waste Services of the Bluegrass to generate power from local landfill waste, marking the region's first business to business landfill gas to energy initiative. Toyota estimates the locally-generated landfill gas will supply enough power each year for the production of 10,000 vehicles. How it Works As solid waste naturally breaks down in a landfill, it creates gas.
