PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING!

up for auction is a Used 2003 Toyota Camry Solara SLE Convertible with a 3.0L V6 automatic, this car is SOLD AS-IS it runs and drives but has a few things that it needs!

the car was in an accident 3/11/14 which caused cosmetic damage to the front end, the bumper and lights have been replaced the bumper has not been painted.  the airbags Did NOT deploy.  we stopped an intersection and a car ran through the light tore off our front bumper. we have pix of the accident after photos. the foglights are not installed but new foglights are included. the title has Not been branded as Salvage.

the car has leather interior but the back seats have tears in them from where we put car  seats etc. the front passenger seat has a small rip.  the A/C doesnt blow cold anymore the stereo speakers will need to be replace but still work. (driving with the top down you have to turn up the radio and after time they are worn) the engine starts and runs fine but it has 199,000 miles which causes it to burn some oil mechanic said its the valve guides. sometimes when you take off from a light there is some blue smoke from the oil burning. the check engine light is on but this car runs and drives and i wouldn't hesitate driving a 500 mile trip with it, it starts up every time and doesn't give me any reason to not trust it.  the front brake pads will need to be changed also they worn.

That being said those are the know issues with the car but remember this car is SOLD AS-IS.

the car is sold AS-IS where is! buyer is fully responsible for pickup in Portsmouth VA 23702.

4 automakers agree to $553M settlement of Takata airbag claims

Thu, May 18 2017

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Four automakers agreed to a $553 million settlement to address class-action economic loss claims covering owners of nearly 16 million vehicles with potentially defective Takata airbag inflators, according to court documents filed on Thursday. Toyota's share of the settlement costs is $278.5 million, followed by BMW at $131 million, Mazda at $76 million and Subaru at $68 million. According to a press release from Plaintiffs' Committee for Takata Airbag Product Liability Litigation, the funds for the settlement are aimed at getting more cars with faulty airbags fixed. At the time of writing, Toyota had the greatest recall completion percentage of 31.89 percent followed by Subaru with 31.37 percent. Mazda has completed repairs on 18.16 percent of affected cars, and BMW brings up the rear with 16.48 percent completion. Some settlement funds will go to an outreach campaign to increase awareness, while other funds will be used to reimburse people for any costs accrued to get their cars fixed. These costs can include rental cars, child care, lost wages, or any other reasonable costs associated with bringing in a vehicle for repairs. Furthermore, a customer support program will be funded with settlement money to handle any additional repairs or adjustments that could become necessary in the 75,000 miles following the airbag replacement. Lawsuits against Honda, Ford and Nissan have not been settled, lawyers said. Takata inflators, which can explode with excessive force and unleash metal shrapnel inside cars and trucks, are blamed for at least 16 deaths and more than 180 injuries worldwide. The safety defect has prompted recalls worldwide of about 100 million inflators by more than a dozen major automakers. Fuel cells will flop outside Japan, says VW

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

"It may fly within Japan, but not globally," VW's Shoji said.
It's long been battered into our beleaguered auto writer brains that the ultimate future source of motivation for tomorrow's cars and trucks is not gasoline, diesel, electricity, natural gas, propane or solar power - it's the hydrogen fuel cell. It's been the Next Big Thing since the start of Next Big Things.

Toyota recalling FJ Cruiser due to excessively bright headlights

Sun, 05 May 2013

Now, hold on. This recall isn't quite as serious as it sounds. Yes, Toyota is recalling 11,489 FJ Cruiser models from the 2007 to 2013 model years, and yes, it's because the vehicles, as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, "fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, 'Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.'" But read the fine print and you'll see the catch: This recall is only for vehicles fitted with the automaker's auxiliary lighting kit that can be mounted to the front bumper.
Basically, the auxiliary lamp assemblies use 55-watt bulbs, and when these are turned on in conjunction with the upper beam headlamps, it's a pretty blinding sight. NHTSA states that excessively bright lights can blind other drivers, increasing the risk for a crash.
To remedy the situation, Toyota will replace the 55-watt bulbs with cooler 35-watt units. The recall is expected to begin later this month. Scroll down for the full details in the NHTSA report.
