2001 Toyota Camry Solara SLE V6 convertible! Inspected and ready to go! She has a steering system that is more sport-oriented than the other Camry's. However, the Solara is still geared for comfort. Its suspension provides a soft, comfortable ride, and the drive train responds well to ordinary driving. As you can see in the many detailed photos taken, the "Silver Opal" metallic exterior looks very good, may have some minor road rash. I have personally driven this convertible and the 200hp, 3.0L, V6 engine runs strong and the 4-speed automatic shifts smooth, no hard shifting. With 4 speeds, this automatic improves acceleration while returning good EPA numbers. The clean, "Gray", leather interior looks good for its year. The tires are very good, better than 95%, have a look. The air conditioning is so cold it will freeze you! The heater blower works just as good on the heat setting. Toyota to drop regular-cab Tacoma as small pickups take another hit
Fri, 02 Aug 2013Even as General Motors prepares to redesign its midsize pickups, the market for sub-fullsize trucks continues to shrink. The remaining competitors in the segment are the well-aged Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma, and now Truck Trend is reporting that the latter will be dropping its regular cab model due to poor sales.
According to the article, the available configurations for the Tacoma lineup will be whittled down in 2015, which apparently spells the end for the two-door Taco. The Tacoma is currently the last truck in its class to be offered in a regular cab configuration, with the Frontier no longer offering a standard cab model and spy shots of the next-gen Chevrolet Colorado not revealing any glimpse of a short cab, either.
Toyota recalls 209,000 FJ Cruisers over seatbelt issue
Sat, 16 Mar 2013Toyota has announced that it will be issuing a substantial recall of the FJ Cruiser for a problem that could cause the front seatbelt retractors to separate from the vehicle body. This recall will apply to all FJ Cruisers - from 2007 through 2013 - totaling around 209,000 units.
The problem stems from the FJ Cruiser's pillarless door opening design that has the front-occupant seatbelts attached to the rear doors. Toyota says that when the rear doors are "repeatedly and forcefully closed," the retractor could completely separate from the door frame.
While there is no information about this recall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration yet, Toyota says that there have been no accidents or injuries associated with this issue. No specific fix or recall date are given, but the official press release is posted below.
BMW-Toyota joint sports car project is on like Donkey Kong
Mon, 30 Dec 2013It's official - there will be a jointly developed sports car from BMW and Toyota. While the two auto giants signed a Memorandum of Understanding that pledged to pursue "joint development of architecture and components for a future sports vehicle" back in June of 2012, in the interim, it has remained unclear how those plans had been progressing. BMW has finally officially confirmed that the German and Japanese manufacturers will be codeveloping a pair of sports cars in addition to pursuing other disciplines including fuel cell systems and lightweight technologies.
"We have agreed on a joint architecture for a sports car. What is important is that there will be two different vehicles that are authentic to the two brands," BMW Development Chief Herbert Diess told Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Reuters is reporting. This is a very, very big step for both brands, but now the speculation can officially begin as to what the products of this agreement will look like.
There's ample reason to believe that the BMW-Toyota tie up will result in a Supra successor based on comments made by the chief engineer of the GT86/FR-S program, Tatsuya Tada, back in August. Follow that with a rumor from earlier this month that Toyota could debut a Supra concept car at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show later this month, and we could be seeing the fruits of this partnership sooner rather than later.
