Great 2007 Toyota Prius Touring edition

I'm the second owner of this car and it is a great vehicle, I just am selling it because I bought a 2010 Prius as it's replacement :(
I hate to see it go, but I know it is time for it to bring joy to someone else :)

The color is a spruce green (sort of light, not a dark green).  The interior is a very light gray.

This is the Touring model which comes with every option available to the 2007 except leather seats. Navigation, Bluetooth so you can stay handsfree when talking on your phone.  It will also import your phone contacts over bluetooth so all you have to do is select which ones you want as speed dial and then speak it or touch the speed dial number and that's it! It has the back up camera for safety, Homelink (buttons on your rear view mirror to replace your garage door remotes, gate remotes, etc.), Auto dimming mirror, power side mirrors, cruise control, power locks and windows, 6 disc cd player, an auxillary port for an audio cable that I'm including that can plug into either an ipod, iphone, mp3 player, etc and you can play your music in the auxillary setting of the radio. It has the smart key system (no need to ever get the key out, just walk up to the door and open it and it senses the key.  Same as driving.  As long as the key is somewhere in the vehicle, it operates, no putting it in an ignition and turning like a regular key.  I LOVE THAT FEATURE!!!  You will get spoiled by not having to dig around a purse or pocket looking for a key!  When exiting the car, you push 1 of 3 little black buttons located on the drivers door handle, front passengers door handle and back hatch handle. So many options on this model!  Everything works great!

There are NO known issues with this car, I just had the oil changed and cleaned it inside and out so that I could ensure that If something was hiding, I could find out and nothing presented itself other than normal wear on the interior and exterior.  It's cleaner than the average 2007 car with right at 150,000 miles!  There are a couple of small door dings and some chips here and there, but probably less than the average 2007 car with right at 150,000 miles!  This car has been well taken care of by the first owner (the first 70,000 miles) and by me.  I get between 48mpg and 52mpg depending on weather and driving conditions (really cold or really hot uses more gas due to using the air or the heat, both of which make the engine run more.  You can sweat it out or freeze if you want to maximize your mpgs though!).

See the edmunds.com appraisal below and you will see that the private party sale value is $9,094.  KBB.com is the same.  I'm basically selling it for what the trade in value is.  That's a great deal on this car!  Check out the vehicle history report and you will see that I'm the 2nd owner and it's never been wrecked and has always passed emissions.  It will make a great car for someone, I hope they love it as much as I have!

All the manuals are in the glovebox.  The tires are in very good condition, I just put in a new set of wiper blades just a few months back (and I buy the good ones!).  It's never been wrecked, not even a fender bender!  It's never had any major problems, it's been a GREAT car!  I really do hate to sell it because it's been so good, but it was time for a newer one for me, so I must part with it...
I've got it listed locally on Craigslist also, so I may end this auction early if it sells there.  Call, text or email with any questions.

Major Alexa deal will bring Amazon services into more cars

Wed, Jan 9 2019

Amazon and its personal assistance service Alexa are partnering with HERE Technologies to create a new connected mobility service powerhouse. Alexa will integrate with HERE's navigation and location services to offer what the two companies are calling a "true voice-first-navigation experience." Alexa will come pre-integrated with HERE navigation on-demand, which the automakers can then enable, which should help cut down on development time. One of the biggest features from this partnership is how directions could be offered and delivered using HERE's Open Location Platform (OLP). Currently, the OLP uses data from several car manufacturers to provide insights into real-time location and traffic. But on Alexa, this could be used to provide directional context. For example, Alexa could say, "Turn right after [such-and-such a building]" rather than just, "Turn right." Amazon has been testing the automotive waters throughout the past decade. Its home-based Alexa-enabled devices are already offered with connections to several manufacturers. To various degrees of integration, it can already pair with Ford, Genesis, Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai and BMW vehicles. At the end of 2018, Amazon took things a step further when it introduced the Echo Auto, a Bluetooth-connected Alexa assistant device that can be physically kept in a car. Currently only available by invitation (its production and distribution have been delayed), the $25 device is essentially a voice service that works together with smartphones and connects to a car's speakers. Users can command it to do a variety of things, including playing music, setting navigation, opening the garage door, finding local stores, making calls, setting reminders, and thousands of other "skills." According to The Verge, nearly 1 million people have already ordered the device. Some (well, probably few) may know HERE Technologies from its maps on Windows Phones. We all know how that turned out, though. Today, HERE has expanded into a multi-function suite that is available in multiple mediums, including many automotive applications. HERE Automotive's connected vehicle services include real-time traffic, parking, weather, fuel prices, hazard warnings, traffic sign integration, and even EV charging stations. These all incorporate and extend the use of HERE's location and tracking programming. HERE is already partnered with BMW, Audi, Daimler, Intel, Mobileye, NVIDIA, and has investments from Bosch, Continental and Pioneer.

2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Introduced at the end of 2006, this is the last year for the Toyota FJ Cruiser, the reincarnated FJ40-series Land Cruiser that will shortly journey to Takama-ga-hara, the Plain of High Heaven. In its first model year, we drove it to SEMA and found it, shall we say, coarse. It bobbled on the freeway and droned in the cabin, its boxy interior providing four bounce-boards for unpleasant frequencies. Tall mirrors helped one work around the eclipse of vision aft of the B-pillars, but navigating traffic required forethought and technique. Its turning circle was measured in kilometers. For the first two years of its life, it needed premium gas. It may have been fun to look at, but we couldn't wait to get out of it.
That's not the case anymore, and now the FJ Cruiser is poised to join a long list of vehicles that got better and better, then got axed.

Asian automakers still reluctant to use more aluminum

Tue, Jun 24 2014

There's a logical progression of technology in the auto industry. We've seen it with things like carbon-ceramic brakes, which use to be the sole domain of six-figure sports cars, where they often cost as much as an entry level Toyota Corolla. Now, you can get them on a BMW M3 (they're still pricey, at $8,150). Who knows, maybe in the next four a five years, they'll be available on something like a muscle car or hot hatchback. Aluminum has had a similar progression, although it's further along, moving from the realm of Audi and Jaguar luxury sedans to Ford's most important product, the F-150. With the stuff set to arrive in such a big way on the market, we should logically expect an all-aluminum Toyota Camry or Honda Accord soon, right? Um, wrong. Reuters has a great report on what's keeping Asian manufacturers away from aluminum, and it demonstrates yet another stark philosophical difference between automakers in the east and those in the west. Of course, there's a pricing argument at play. But it's more than just the cost of aluminum sheet (shown above) versus steel. Manufacturing an aluminum car requires extensive retooling of existing factories, not to mention new relationships with suppliers and other logistical and financial nightmares. Factor that in with what Reuters calls Asian automaker's preference towards "evolutionary upgrades," and the case for an all-aluminum Accord is a difficult one. Instead, manufacturers in the east are focusing on developing even stronger steel as a means of trimming fat, although analysts question how long that practice can continue. Jeff Wang, the automotive sales director for aluminum supplier Novelis, predicts that we'll see a bump in aluminum usage from Japanese and Korean brands in the next two to three years, and that it will be driven by an influx of aluminum-based vehicles from western automakers into China. Only time will tell if he's proven right. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Sean Gallup / Getty Images Plants/Manufacturing Honda Hyundai Mazda Nissan Toyota Technology aluminum
