2009 Toyota Prius 4 Door Hatchback, Leather, Nav, No Reserve, 40,000 Miles! on 2040-cars
Franklin, North Carolina, United States
The car has always been garaged during my ownership. It has performed perfectly; the only visit to a shop was for a minor factory recall for the water pump. Tires are General Altimax, with about 75% of tread remaining. The car is equipped with leather, AM-FM radio with 6-CD changer, backup camera, Bluetooth, and NAV. Most features can be controlled either by voice or by way of buttons on the steering wheel. I have all manuals, the cargo mat, retractable cargo cover, and rubber floor mats. I have only ONE key. (I bought a spare key fob but have never taken it to a dealer to be programmed to the car. That spare key is included). I purchased this Prius 3 1/2 years ago from a shop in Charlotte NC that repairs "salvage" cars exclusively. The North Carolina title, which is clear and in my name, says "Salvage Rebuilt" in the "title brands" box. The car was nearly new when involved in a front-end collision and the insurance company chose to write it off. The front fenders, hood, bumper, and radiator mounts were replaced with parts from another Prius that had been struck in the rear. North Carolina inspects cars regularly during this process, and acquiring the original title was not a problem. If you examine the photos carefully, you will see that there also is a slight misalignment of both front fenders where they meet the bumper cover. (In cold weather they stay in place, but in summer they pop out about a quarter inch.) A local body shop estimated less than $100 to repair this imperfection, but I see no reason to do so. A "salvage" title means two things: the manufacturers warranty is void and the car has been damaged with repairs costing over $2500.. The paint has the minor scratches and a couple of rock chips on the front that would be expected on a 4 1/2 year old car. The "outside temperature" monitor is not working. There is a small bleach spot on the rear cargo mat. For it's age, I would say that this car is in excellent condition, and with only 40,000 miles it has many years of service remaining. The odometer reading will increase slightly, as the car is being used locally. This Prius is an excellent buy and I feel sure that it will serve someone well for many years. It would sell for thousands of dollars more without the salvage title. Mileage consistently averages over 51 MPG even in the mountains. We are selling because we have too many cars for a 70 year old couple! If you want to talk about the car, email your phone number to me. |

Toyota Me.We concept is a multifunction Tupperware car [w/video]
Wed, 24 Apr 2013Not to be outdone by the Renault Twin'Z concept penned by Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove, Toyota has partnered up with French designer Jean-Marie Massaud to create the 2013 Toyota Me.We Concept. Unveiled at Le Rendez-vous Toyota in Paris, the Me.We Concept is an attempt to imagine a car that can be appreciated by owners across a wide variety of lifestyles while being courteous to the environment, too.
From a "Me" perspective, the concept is highly customizable with removable body panels, and even though it might look like just a small hatchback from the outside, Toyota claims it can also be used as a pickup (with an extendable rear panel), a convertible (with a neoprene roof panel) and even an off-road vehicle. As for the "We" part of the car, it's a fully electric vehicle with individual in-wheel motors and a battery pack mounted under the load floor. The concept has a weight of around 1,600 pounds kept low thanks to an aluminum chassis, but it also features renewable bamboo wood for the floor in addition to the fully recyclable polypropylene exterior body panels. Toyota Camry Hybrid SE adds a dash of limited-edition sport
Tue, 04 Feb 2014For drivers who want to benefit from the increased efficiency of a hybrid sedan but who don't want to look like they'd rather be hugging trees, Toyota has just announced its 2014.5 Camry Hybrid SE Limited Edition.
The SE LTD combines the exterior bits and pieces that make the SE look sportier than other Camry models with the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, electric motor and nickel metal hydride battery pack of the Camry Hybrid. That means the Hybrid SE offers up 200 combined system horsepower to the front wheels, and we'd expect it to be rated at the same 40 miles per gallon city and 38 highway of the Camry XLE Hybrid.
Only 5,000 units will be produced between February and June of 2014, with an asking price of $27,845, which is about $700 more expensive than the base Camry Hybrid LE or $2,620 less than the Hybrid XLE that Toyota says shares a similar level of equipment. Sounds like a fair shake to us. Scroll down below for the complete press release.
2015 Toyota Camry targeting 'more emotional' design
Sun, 19 Jan 2014There are many ways to describe the Toyota Camry: "comfortable," "economical," "affordable," "reliable" and "dull as a bucket of mayonnaise" would all be accurate. It's this last one that the Japanese brand is seeking to change. While we aren't expecting it to suddenly sprout a high-revving V8, a rear-drive layout or razor-sharp handling, a report from Bloomberg suggests we should at least expect a more evocative design from one of the best-selling cars in the country.
The next Camry update, due for 2015, should have a "more emotional, more impactful design," says Kevin Hunter, head of Toyota's US design studio. That's according to Bloomberg, who caught up with the styling boss at this week's Detroit Auto Show. "Camry's taken some hits on styling, but it's still selling well. But we need to create better design for Camry in the future."
