2005 Toyota Prius Base Hatchback 4-door 1.5l Gold +17 Cu Ft Roof System on 2040-cars
Sedona, Arizona, United States
Hi guys,
I am selling my own personal 2005 Toyota Prius, which I bought from the original owner on June 9th, 2011. So I am the 2nd owner. I bought it with 88,657 miles. I am selling it with 140,141 miles. This car is in perfect operating condition, with clean title. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been in an accident. I am starting this auction with $1.00 and no reserve. Highest bidder gets the car, regardless of price. The only reason I am selling this car is because we are going to Hawaii, and then will possibly be leaving the US for a while. If it wasn't due to this traveling, I would not be selling this car. I read some Toyota Prius forums, and there are quite a few people that have been driving earlier Prius models with more than 250,000 miles on them. One guy had 305,000 miles. Apparently, the odometer stopped at 299,999 miles, and the Toyota fixed it for free, under the warranty. I have been treating this car very well, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it will go to 300,000 miles+ with all original parts. The original owner sold me this car with no problems, except one set of 3 dead buttons on the right side of the steering wheel. These are convenience buttons. All of these functions can be controlled through the Navigation Screen. He told me that the Toyota dealership estimated the repair of these buttons to be at $350. I never cared to fix them. See picture of steering wheel with these 3 buttons. In addition to that, apparently while I was away, one of my kids hit the navigation screen with a butt of a stick. I never saw it happen, but at one point in time, I saw a circular crack on the navigation screen, about 2 inches wide. Luckily all the buttons, except one, continue to work, although some air conditioner level buttons that are inside of the crack need a little bit harder pressing, and for some you need to press a bit off center, in order for them to press. The only button that is not pressable is the display "Language" button. You only need this button, if you want to change the display language from English to Spanish, or French, or some other language. If you are satisfied with your display to be in English, you'll never need to use this button. I attempted to display this crack on one of the pictures below. I don't believe you will ever need to change the navigation screen, because it's fully functional, except for the display language switch. But if you do decide to change it, the part number for it is 86110-47071. If you search for it on Ebay, you'll see them selling for around $250. That's used. I see no reason why you would need new one. To switch it would probably cost around $200 in mechanic's labor. Because this car has been used for about 7 years, it obviously has some minor scratches on the outside, and some wear on the inside. The two things mentioned above and normal wear are the only problems I know of with the vehicle. This vehicle was serviced in Toyota Santa Barbara on September 30th, 2013. They did not recommend any repairs. Currently, this vehicle is in Sedona, AZ. After I bought the vehicle, I changed the CD player. The original Toyota CD player did not have AUX port in it, so I bought nice CD player with AUX port, so that I could listen to my Ipod in the car. I also put in brand new battery (not hybrid battery, but the one for starting the car), but that's normal. They usually last about 6-7 years. You won't need to change one again until about 2018-2019. The car has about half-worn firestone tires. You won't need to change those for a while. The hybrid battery is as strong as when I bought it. If you drive it about 55 mph on flat surface, you get about 55 mpg. Highway at 80 miles per hour, you get about 42 mpg. City, you get more than 60 mpg. Here in Sedona, AZ, which has many hills, we normally get about 45-47 mpg. We have tickets to Hawaii for November 1st, this auction will end on October 25th. If you win it, I would really want you to pick it up right away, so hopefully on October 26th or 27th. Please don't bargain with me. I've described the car very well. Please pay exact bid amount when you pick it up. I prefer to receive $500 commitment deposit via paypal within 24 hours of you winning this auction. The car includes Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Base Rack System, for which I paid $247.50+$100 installation about 6 months ago. It also includes 17 cubic feet Thule Tahoe Roof Bag that goes on top of the racks. I bought this bag from REI about 6-months ago for about $230, including sales tax. If you travel with luggage, this is the BEST system for the Prius. This Thule bag fits a lot more than the hard shell bags you see. I did a lot of research before buying this system, and in terms of maximum capacity, this is the best set up. We even put our tent and a bunch of sleeping bags between the bottom of this Thule Bag, and the roof of the car. With this roof set up, you basically have two trunks, which is GREAT for traveling, especially if you have 2 or 3 people sitting in the back. I think I've said it all, if you have any questions, please ask... |

2015 Toyota Auris freshens up in Geneva, prepares for New York debut
Thu, Mar 5 2015Toyota is preparing to bring its Auris hatchback to the US market as a Scion. That makes news of this refreshed Auris, debuting at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, a fairly noteworthy piece of news. Changes are decidedly light, befitting of a refresh. Toyota has tweaked the headlights, taillights and both bumpers for 2015, featuring a wider grille up front. In the cabin, changes are similarly limited, with updated connectivity equipment, particularly the area around the infotainment system, being the biggest change. A new instrument cluster looks to have been installed, as well. Aside from those changes, though, Toyota didn't do too much to the Auris. You can check out our full gallery of live images for Geneva, and you'll want to be sure to check back here next month, for the official coverage of the Auris-based Scion iM when it debuts at the 2015 New York Auto Show. NEW TOYOTA AURIS TO JOIN NEW AVENSIS ON STAGE AT GENEVA Motor show debut for British-built Auris hatchback and wagon Toyota will reveal its new Auris at the Geneva motor show (3 – 15 March), the British-built hatchback and Touring Sports wagon versions making their debut alongside new Avensis. New Auris enjoys a refreshed design that adds presence and prestige, together with an upgraded cabin and new comfort and safety equipment features. The hybrid remains at the heart of the range, having established itself as the leading powertrain in the line-up, accounting for around half of all Auris sales in Europe in 2014. Nonetheless, the new model heralds the arrival of new and improved petrol and diesel engines, developed with a focus on efficiency and performance. The simultaneous reveal of new Auris and Avensis follows on from last year's introduction of Aygo and Yaris to complete a full rejuvenation of Toyota's core European model range. Both Auris and Avensis will continue to be built side by side at Toyota Manufacturing UK's car plant at Burnaston, near Derby. Toyota will host its Geneva motor show press conference on its stand in Hall 4 at Palexpo, at 12.15pm on 3 March. Related Video:
Toyota launches new Noah, Voxy minivans in Japan [w/videos]
Wed, 22 Jan 2014We know the feeling: you've got what seems like your whole bloodline to transport, and maybe not quite two of every living kind, but a household pet or two. So you're going to need something big to fit them all. Something like a Toyota Sienna ought to do the trick. But if you live on an Asian island that, we're sorry to say, has been known to flood in what can only be referred to as an Act of God but whose vehicles fall short of such biblical proportions, at least you can get one with a suitably biblical name. (And an awesome one at that, if this writer may say so.)
That would be Noah, the name Toyota gives to its JDM minivan. It's also known as the Voxy, and Toyota has just revealed new versions of both. Previewed in concept form at the recent Tokyo Motor Show, the production Noah and Voxy have been completely redesigned. The boxy form allows for as many as eight seats and a low, flat-folding cargo floor to accommodate your whole clan and all the stuff you could buy from Uniqlo and Muji with the roomiest interior in its class.
Toyota is offering both with a variety of gasoline and hybrid powertrain configurations driving the front wheels or all four through a continuously variable transmission in a range of trim levels starting from 2.18 million yen (equivalent to $20,952 at today's rates) to 3.4 million yen ($32,694). The Voxy is sold through Toyota's network of Netz dealerships across Japan, and the Noah through its parallel Corolla dealers. Along with the pair of video clips and the high-res image galleries top and bottom, there are plenty of details in the press release below, where you can read more about the flexible seating arrangements and all the latest tech. Just don't expect to be reading dimensions measured in cubits and construction from gopher wood.
Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota HQ goes solar, CARB fights methane
Tue, Jun 7 2016Opel denies allegations about illegal emissions software as the German transport ministry begins its review. Opel has turned documents over to German authorities, and promises to hold a "constructive dialogue" while answering any lingering questions, says the automaker. Opel says that "the allegations reflect a wrong understanding of how diesel engines work." As German magazine Der Spiegel renewed questions about a cheat device similar to those used by Volkswagen, Opel reiterates, "We do not have any software that recognizes whether a vehicle is undergoing an exhaust emissions test." French industrial gases company Air Liquide manufactures liquid hydrogen, while Korean automaker Hyundai has already deployed its Tucson Fuel Cell crossover in select markets around the world. The two companies have signed a deal to cooperate on hydrogen technology. President Park visited an Air Liquide research center during a trip to Europe, where she said that a partnership between Hyundai and Air Liquide can help their countries stay ahead in the fuel cell vehicle market. Read more from Green Car Congress. CARB is proposing new rules for oil and gas facilities that would reduce methane emissions by more than 50 percent. The system, treatment, operation, and device standards would apply to onshore and offshore oil and gas production, storage, processing, and transmission facilities, covering procedures for leak detection and repair, equipment replacement, record keeping, and data reporting. "Methane emissions from the oil and gas industry contribute to California's [greenhouse gas] emissions and cost-effective reduction opportunities already exist and are available for use in the sector," CARB says. "In addition, reducing methane emissions from this sector will help slow the rate of climate change in the near-term and have an immediate beneficial impact on climate change." A hearing is scheduled for July 21 to discuss the proposal. Read more from SNL. Toyota's new Plano, Texas campus will get 25 percent of its energy from the sun. As Toyota plans to move into its new North American headquarters next year, it is building a 7.75-megawatt solar system to provide renewable energy for its operations. The solar arrays will be built atop three parking structures by the end of 2017.
