2002 Toyota Prius, Silver, Good Condition, Selling For Move! on 2040-cars
Liverpool, New York, United States
It's time to say goodbye to a dear old friend...this Prius has been in my family for 12 years, driven by my parents the first 8 and me the last 4. I love this car, but I'm leaving Liverpool, NY and heading to London, so I can't take it with me.
It's a 2002 Toyota Prius, silver exterior and grey interior, kept clean and well-maintained by my family. It runs perfectly and gets around 37 MPG daily short-trip use, and upwards of 40-50 MPG on long highway trips. At 146K miles, it's still got a lot of life left in it, and the savings on gas is amazing with the prices at the pump these days. Power steering, mirrors, locks with remote, windows, regenerative anti-lock brakes, in-dash control screen with efficiency readout, radio, cassette player, 6-CD multidisc player, cruise control, perfectly working A/C and heat, driver/passenger airbags, passive alarm system and VIN etching on all windows. Passed inspection in March 2014. Just had to replace both front struts yesterday from normal wear over time, and replaced both front tires and the engine filter, got it aligned and balanced. Back tires still in good condition, less than two years old. Replaced the brakes and rotors back less than a year ago. Also comes with a free set of excellent non-studded snow tires, used only for last winter and they were amazing, they gripped the road like it wasn't even snowing. It looks fantastic except for the following mostly cosmetic defects: - A double-sided dent on the front right bumper from a 5 MPH collision with the rear end of a motorcycle two years ago. - A small ding on the driver's door left by some unknown driver while I was inside a store shopping. - A tiny chip in the upper right front windshield. - The front right daytime running light turns randomly on and off for no apparent reason. Mechanics couldn't tell me why, the bulbs have been replaced, and if you thump it, it comes back on. - The trunk's key lock won't turn, but the trunk release latch inside the car still opens it. - The folding cup holder for the rear seats pops off sometimes, but will pop back on. - Light rust in places underneath, it spent 8 years in dry Texas climates, so it's only been exposed to upstate NY weather for four. :) Other than that, it really is a great and well-maintained car, you have to see it for yourself. I'll be available for showings all of Monday, or after 6:30 PM weeknights this week, all of Saturday and until 11 Sunday morning. It will be parked out in front of 31 Galloway Drive, Liverpool, NY 13090 most of the time if you'd like to take a look first. I'll still be using it a little for short trips until it sells. Please e-mail me with any questions you have - e-mails with only a phone number and no questions will be ignored. Cash, check, Paypal or credit card (via my Square account swiper) are accepted, but please note that checks will have to clear my bank first before I turn over the keys, up to an additional 3 business days. Out of state buyers are welcome but only with no option for refusal/negotiation after arrival. I will record 360 degree interior and exterior videos of the car for non-local buyers upon request and show you everything you need to make a safe buying decision. ***Please be sure before you bid.*** I will gladly pick up buyers from the airport. The pictures shown were taken a couple years ago, except for the updated one of the front bumper dent, and the missing ding from the driver's door. It really does look exactly the same otherwise. Thanks for looking, feel free to ask any questions and happy bidding! |

2014 Toyota Aygo is so cross with itself
Mon, 03 Mar 2014It almost made it, but images of the redesigned Toyota Aygo have leaked ahead of its official debut at tomorrow's Geneva Motor Show. The new Aygo sports an aggressive look overall with a, um, mark on its face.
That distinguishing design feature aside, we quite like the angular headlights and muscular overall look of this little city car. The gaping trapezoidal air intake make the Aygo look more substantial, while swollen rear wheel arches hint at something sportier than your standard commuter device.
Sportiness, though, isn't likely to be a big part of the Aygo. As it's built on the same platform as the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108, we should expect the same pair of gas-powered engines, which means at best, the Toyota will come to market with 82 horsepower under hood.
These are the cars with the best and worst depreciation after 5 years
Thu, Nov 19 2020The average new vehicle sold in America loses nearly half of its initial value after five years of ownership. No surprise there; we all expect that shiny new car to start depreciating as soon as we drive it off the lot. But some vehicles lose value a lot faster than others. According to data provided by iSeeCars.com, trucks and truck-based sport utility vehicles generally hold their value better than other vehicle types, with the Jeep Wrangler — in both four-door Unlimited and standard two-door styles — and Toyota Tacoma sitting at the head of the pack. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's average five-year depreciation of 30.9% equals a loss in value of $12,168. That makes Jeep's four-door off-roader the best overall pick for buyers looking to minimize depreciation. The Toyota Tacoma's 32.4% loss in initial value means it loses just $10,496. The smaller dollar amount — the least amount of money lost after five years — indicates that Tacoma buyers pay less than Wrangler Unlimited buyers, on average, when they initially buy the vehicle. The standard two-door Jeep Wrangler is third on the list, depreciating 32.8% after five years and losing $10,824. On the other side of the depreciation coin, luxury sedans tend to plummet in value at a much faster rate than other vehicle types. The BMW 7 Series leads the losers with a 72.6% drop in value after five years, which equals an alarming $73,686. BMW's slightly smaller 5 Series is next, depreciating 70.1%, or $47,038, over the same period. Number three on the biggest losers list is the Nissan Leaf, the only electric vehicle to appear in the bottom 10. The electric hatchback matches the 5 Series with a 70.1% drop in value, but since it's a much cheaper vehicle, that percentage equals a much smaller $23,470 loss. 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Introduced at the end of 2006, this is the last year for the Toyota FJ Cruiser, the reincarnated FJ40-series Land Cruiser that will shortly journey to Takama-ga-hara, the Plain of High Heaven. In its first model year, we drove it to SEMA and found it, shall we say, coarse. It bobbled on the freeway and droned in the cabin, its boxy interior providing four bounce-boards for unpleasant frequencies. Tall mirrors helped one work around the eclipse of vision aft of the B-pillars, but navigating traffic required forethought and technique. Its turning circle was measured in kilometers. For the first two years of its life, it needed premium gas. It may have been fun to look at, but we couldn't wait to get out of it.
That's not the case anymore, and now the FJ Cruiser is poised to join a long list of vehicles that got better and better, then got axed.
