        2004 Toyota Matrix XRS

What is the Toyota  Matrix XRS? Is it a Sports Car, a Wagon, a  Minivan,or  an SUV?   The answer is YES!  Toyota  even calls it a CUV for Compact Utility Vehicle.

It combines  the style and performance of a sports car with the  functionality of an SUV and the affordability of a  compact sedan. It offers  peppy acceleration, particularly around town. It  corners nicely yet offers a smooth, comfortable  ride. It's practical,  with a big cargo area that can be expanded by  folding down the rear seats. And it's certainly  stylish. While the high-performance XRS model offers  it's 180-horsepower  engine

If you've been looking  for a vehicle in Great Condition that does  it All and does it All Very Well!  Then you need to continue  reading and check out all the pictures and details

This is a ONE  OWNER FLORIDA CAR so you know it is rust free!  We  live in the best place in the country for cars,  no rust or corrosion from the bitter elements of  the North, just Florida sunshine.  Why buy a  used car from New York or Chicago, when you can  buy one from the Sunshine State?

The Exterior is Indigo  Ink Pearl and is in excellent condition.( If you  look  close  you're bound to find some minor  imperfections  as you  would with any pre-loved  vehicle, but  nothing you'd need to fuss with and  certain nothing  objectionable.)  A  wide track, Alloy Wheels, along with generous tires  (65% Tread-life) fill the wheel wells nicely.  Add  to that Color-Coded Ground Effect and Mirrors... all  really helps give the Matrix an aggressive look.

Definitely, SHARP from every angle!

Inside...It's just as nice!  The  Light Gray Patterned seating  surfaces along with  the dash, carpets, door panels, and  headliner are  Clean, Fresh, and Issue Free. Sitting in a Toyota Matrix is somewhat like sitting in an SUV,  with upright seating and a commanding view of the road  ahead. The gauges glow red at all times, even during the  daytime, adding to the Sport feel. Chrome rims accentuate each  pod and fake brushed aluminum trim is used to surround switches  on the dashboard and door panels.

The Matrix offers plenty of headroom  for tall drivers and passengers. One cool feature is  the available 115-volt power outlet located in the  front dashboard alongside a regular 12-volt outlet.  It's a low-power AC plug suitable for powering a  laptop computer,

Mechanically...Serviced and Ready to  GO! The 1.8 Liter VVTL-i engine is near legendary.  Extremely economical with reports of 25/35 mpgs, yet  more than enough any driving situation. Drive it  normally and it's Peppy and responsive... Rev-it-up  and Toyota says it produces up to 180 Horse Power!

Toyota nearing $1B settlement of unintended acceleration criminal probe

Sun, 09 Feb 2014

According to those all-too-nebulous "people familiar with the matter," Toyota is close to a settlement with the US federal government to end a criminal probe over its long-running unintended acceleration fiasco. Though Toyota has never admitted guilt, the deal could reportedly crest a billion dollars and would likely include a criminal deferred prosecution agreement, and while we're not legal experts, The Wall Street Journal explains that such a deal would "[force Toyota] to accept responsibility while avoiding the potentially crippling consequences of federal criminal convictions."
The report from WSJ also suggests that Toyota is facing charges that it "made false or incomplete disclosures" to various government agencies regarding possible defects to its cars. Such charges may include mail and wire fraud violations. Toyota has already paid out fines totaling $66.2 million to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because it failed to report safety defects in a timely manner.
This deal with the federal government is not related to the billion-dollar class-action settlement reached with Toyota owners over falling vehicle values, and it's also different from the roughly 400 lawsuits still in courts alleging personal injury of wrongful death due to cases of unintended acceleration. In other words, don't expect to hear the end of such courtroom verdicts and settlements anytime soon...

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV ready for production, Nissan tests Leaf-to-Home energy management

Fri, Oct 17 2014

Toyota will begin selling its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in Japan in December. The US and Europe can expect to see the car become available next summer. The FCV, which will likely be called "Mirai" (meaning "future") in Japan, is ready for production ahead of its initial deadline at the end of the fiscal year in March. Toyota planned for annual production of 700 units, but might increase output to meet higher-than-expected demand, which is currently nearing 1,000 units. The cars will mostly be sold in the four cities where a hydrogen fueling infrastructure is already being put in place: Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka. Read more at Nikkei Asian Review. Nissan is testing the Leaf EV as part of an energy management system including "Leaf to Home" technology. The system allows the Leaf to help support the power grid during peak energy usage, or provide backup power to a home or building during outages, particularly in emergencies like natural disasters. Using the Leaf's battery to provide electricity during peak hours would lessen the demand on the grid and make the system work more efficiently. Furthermore, if consumers are compensated for the energy saved by using the Leaf for power during periods of high demand, it could encourage more people to adopt the EV. CDP keeps track of how much companies are disclosing about their impact on global climate change. "The need for data on corporate climate change impacts and strategies to reduce them has never been greater," says CDP CEO Paul Simpson. "For this reason we congratulate those businesses that have achieved a position on CDP's Climate Disclosure Leadership Index." Other perfect scores were earned by Nissan, BMW, Daimler and General Motors. Read more in the press release from Honda below. Scientists at Stanford University have developed a lithium ion battery that can warn users before it overheats. A thin layer of copper between the anode and the layer separating the anode from the cathode acts as a sensor. When it detects lithium buildups from overcharging are approaching the separator, it sends an early alert long before it gets to a point where it would cause a short (which could lead to a fire). The new safety measure could be used in all sorts of battery applications, and not be limited to EVs. Learn more at Phys.org.

Toyota C-HR Concept is a high-riding hybrid hatch [w/video]

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

Despite having the tendency to offer decidedly bland production cars, Toyota occasionally surprises us with interesting concept cars. Such is the case with the C-HR concept making its debut at the Paris Motor Show this week. It's a concept showing forward-thinking design that hints at "a type of crossover vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market," according to the automaker's release, and it rides on an all-new platform and uses a hybrid powertrain.
About that powertrain: Toyota isn't revealing anything, just saying that it will - brace yourselves - "deliver significantly improved fuel efficiency" (over what, exactly?) The car also uses a brand-new architecture, though it hasn't really revealed any major details about that aspect, either.
It's a high-riding, muscular thing, with a rakish hatchback shape. Should it reach production, Toyota says it would take the shape of a C-segment crossover. It'd be cool to see something like this hit the road someday, but for now, we won't hold our breath.
