Have a 1 owner 2003 Toyota Matrix AWD (4x4) up for auction. Blue book on this vehicle with this many miles is about $4700. This is a lot like the corolla.  Great on gas, and great in the snow.  I will describe as best as i can, but if you want to come see it before auction ends, please do so, just contact me to set up a time.  Has highway miles mostly, up to 229,000 now.  (Title still shows 59, proving 1 owner car).

The Good:  Starts and runs well, don't notice any issues with running.  Interior is in great shape, and exterior is in pretty good shape too.  Manual doors and windows.  4X4 is great in the snow.  Tires are approx 50%.

The Bad:  Air conditioning does not work. Not sure what is wrong with it, i heard the compressor kick on but never gets cold.  The radio display does not work correctly.  Radio works, just cant see what station you are on all of the time.  The front bumper at the bottom was cut off, does not look bad.  Was cut off because we needed more clearance on our old driveway, didnt want to rip the entire bumper off.   3 of the 4 hubcabs are missing.

Thats all i can think of at the moment.  I have tried to describe as best as i can.  Since this is a 2003 car, and the miles are so high this vehicle is being sold AS-IS.  Once it leaves my house I am no longer responsible so if you want to have a mechanic check it out or you want to see/drive it before buying please do so!

EVO "2012 Car of the Year: The Track Battles" is a sports car salmagundi

Sun, 25 Nov 2012

EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.
Tiff Needell and sports car racer Richard Meaden handle the wheel duties, the two driving five pairs of sports cars: Lotus Exige S vs. Porsche Boxster S, Morgan Three-Wheeler vs. Toyota GT86, BMW M135i vs. Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series vs. Alpina B3 GT3, the marquee event pits the McLaren MP4-12C vs. the Pagani Huayra. After a head-to-head lap with commentary during drifts, Meaden takes each car out to set a representative lap time.
You'll find the verdicts, lots of tire smoke, and lines like "Anything you can do sideways I can do sideways" in the video below.

Toyota unveils two new small displacement engines

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

Toyota introduced a pair of brand-new engines in Japan today, that it says will eventually spawn 14 different variants by 2015. Where these two engines stand out in today's world, is that neither mill boasts direct injection, and both are naturally aspirated.
The larger of the two is a 1.3-liter, while the smaller engine, a 1.0-liter, was developed in collaboration with Daihatsu. What makes these two unique is that they both use the Atkinson cycle. Now, we aren't going to bore you by explaining just what this is - there's Google for that. Suffice it to say, Atkinson engines are highly efficient, but that efficiency comes by sacrificing power. That's why they're so popular in hybrids, which can offset the power losses.
This focus on fuel efficiency extends throughout the new engines, which also benefit from tweaks like a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system and a trick intake port, while the 1.3 employs Toyota's iE variant of variable valve timing. Both engines can be fitted with stop-start tech. According to Toyota, when fitted with stop-start the 1.3 should provide around a 15-percent bump while the 1.0-liter will increase economy around 30 percent, when they arrive on the road.
