2001 Toyota Mr2 Spyder Base Convertible 2-door 1.8l on 2040-cars
Wilmette, Illinois, United States
For sale is my beautiful 2001 mr2 Spyder. 53,000 miles. White with tan interior. The car is mint. Not a mark on the exterior and the interior is in fantastic shape also. The top is in perfect shape. Everything works perfectly. Brakes, clutch, tires, trans, etc in perfect shape. There is nothing she needs. I bought the car in Nov, 2013 and put maybe 100 miles on it before winter hit and she went into storage. It's a blast to drive. Like a slot car, hugs the road like no other small car can. Best thing is it gets abt 33 MPG! I am forced to sell it due to some very expensive home repairs that are needed, including a new furnace and a/c unit. I barely used the car at all. It is in almost perfect shape. No dinks, scratches, dents etc on the exterior. No rips, tears, cracks on the interior. Tires r new. Needs nothing. Perfect for the upcoming summer weather. My loss is your gain. I doubt u will find a nicer Spyder out there. White tan combo is rarely seen. Any questions, feel free to contact me. If u have a fair offer, I will entertain those too. Check my feedback, it is excellent. If u r looking for a showroom looking Spyder, this is for u. I am the second owner of the car. The original owner traded it in to a dealership and I bought it from them. Thanks. Good luck!

Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ successor canceled?
Tue, Jan 29 2019Rumors indicate that the Toyota 86 is done for. Japanese Nostalgic Car is quoting Japanese sources as saying Toyota and Subaru have parted ways regarding the 86 and that the current car's replacement is off the table. According to JNC, the Japanese magazine Best Car is readying a report that the 86/BRZ successor has been canceled. JNC also considers the fact that in Japan, there will be a four-cylinder, 197-horsepower version of the new Supra, ready to continue where the 86 will leave the market. Back in 2016 the automaker seemingly confirmed that a replacement for the rear-drive car was under development, but plans can change and with a cheaper Supra version for sale in markets outside the U.S., we have to wonder if the 86 replacement has been shelved. The 86, while balanced, has only received mild enhancements and not a lot of extra power during its near-decade long time on the market, and it isn't such a strong seller that it would necessarily merit the effort of Toyota developing a successor on its own, particularly without the help of a partner like Subaru or BMW. At the same time, Autocar quotes Toyota boss Akio Toyoda on the Supra: "At the end of the day, is there anything better than a tight rear-wheel-drive sports car? I hope this won't be the last Toyota sports car you see from us in the future." While that is far from a solid statement of Toyota's future intent, it paves the way to offerings below the Supra, and shows how much the company boss cares about driver involvement. There is a distinct possibility that the company will re-introduce the MR2 as an electrified, rear-drive sports car – which could still be a joint venture with Subaru, as Japanese Nostalgic Car theorizes. Whatever's in the pipeline – and we hope there is something in the pipeline – it seems Toyota's heart is in the right place: driving the rear wheels. Related Video:

Despite slow sales, no new Scion models in near-term pipeline [w/poll]
Mon, 09 Sep 2013According to a top Toyota executive, the Japanese automaker will not be introducing any fresh Scion models in the near future, Reuters reports. As of August, Scion sales for this year were down 1.6 percent from 2012 and accounted for only 0.3 percent of Toyota's overall US sales. And last month, Toyota Motor Sales USA Senior Vice President Bob Carter informed the 1,000 dealers who carry Scion that they can drop the brand without penalty.
However, never fear - Carter has assured that, while nothing new is coming for at least six months, the company is still very committed to the quirky Scion brand. Toyota launched Scion, which targets the youth market, in 2003, and sales peaked in 2006. The brand currently has five models, with the 2013 best-sellers being the FR-S sports coupe followed by the tC sedan and xB hatchback.
What do you think about Toyota's decision to hold off on introducing new or refreshed Scion models? Are they heading in the right direction, or does this spell doom for the funky Gen Y brand?
