If you’ve been looking for a low mileage, early MR2, this is a great choice.

About as close to a "barn-find" as you can get.

Drive and enjoy it as-is, or put a little more effort in and make it a show winning original!

Starts and runs like new. Everything works perfectly. There have been no aftermarket modifications or alterations (it still has the original steel wheels and am/fm radio).

63,141 miles.

This car is in very good condition throughout for a 25 year old, mostly original, survivor car.

Leased new in Miami, Florida 10/26/1989 it was garage kept from 1989 to 2004.

In 1994 it had 44,334 miles when the original owner moved to Fort Pierce, Florida. He drove the car another 18,000+ miles until the air-conditioning stopped working in 2004.

He  bought a new car and parked this MR2 in the drive way with a cover over it for the next 10 years. (Unfortunately the original paint never stood a chance of being protected from the Florida sun under the cover.)

It still has the tires on it from 2003 (that he never rotated) about 1/3 worn in the front and on the wear bars in the rear. They show signs of age cracking and are ready for replacement.

The car was purchased from the original owner 02/2013 by his neighbor, put back in running order and than sold 2 months later (04/2013) to the gentleman I purchased it from.

The gentleman I purchased it from prepared the car as a graduation present for his grandson that was moving to Florida. From 04/2013 to 07/2013 the car had a complete new Air-conditioning system installed, a new alternator, new clutch slave cylinder, new battery, new belts & hoses, complete tune up and maintenance service completed and more. He registered the car in July 2013 awaiting his grandson's arrival, but the lad changed his mind and was a no-show.

I purchased the car recently with the intentions of preparing it to do some SCCA racing with my son, but after realizing how original and rare it is, did not have the heart to take it apart.  I bought a e30 BMW instead and now have too many cars in the driveway. (And I need the money to put into the e30).

Exterior finish is a $600 Maaco quality black paint job.  It is glossy paint with no faded or worn areas. There are a few dings and dents that were painted over, so it is clear that the car is not a bondo covered rust bucket.  There is No Rust anywhere on the vehicle. The original Grey paint is still there in the inside of the doors, the door jams, under the bonnet, hood, truck, etc. and any where the outside paint job did not cover. The grey is very dark, so this is not noticeable, however it does give the option of easily putting the car back to it's original Grey color.

Interior is near mint, but shift boot is worn and there is the kind of wear associated with a 63,000 mile Toyota.

There are no mechanical issues. Runs flawlessly, Pulls strong, Clutch engages smoothly, Shifts solidly and firmly, No transmission issues. No fluid leaks.Very Cold A/C.

The exhaust system is original, so the muffler does need replacement and the car is a bit loud (see videos).

Car is sold where is and as is. Winning bidder is required to provide $1000 deposit via cash, cashier's check, money order, or bank wire transfer within 48 hours of auction close and full balance within 7 days of auction close.

If you want to come to Jensen Beach and do some fishing before buying a set of tires and driving back I can point you to some good fishing guides. Being the off season, the fish camps have some good deals going. If you want to fly in, the nearest airport is in West Palm Beach, or 3 hours away is Orlando if you would rather visit Mickey Mouse instead of Tiger Woods or Donald Trump.

If you want me to hold the car a week or so while you arrange shipping, that is okay too, but if you need to store it a month or longer I will take it to a local storage facility for you to pay rent at. I am about 30 miles from Fort Pierce, a major Florida Shipping hub, so getting transportation is easy.

Clean Florida title and bill-of-sale will be provided upon receipt and confirmation of all purchase funds.

I have the car for sale locally so I  reserve the right to end the auction early.

I welcome and encourage personal inspections, test drives, and having the car checked by a mechanic.

Call or text me at 305-283-8602 with any questions.

Clean and clear Florida Title, and Superior CarFax!

Happy bidding!

GM, Ford, Toyota, Stellantis CEOs want EV tax credit cap lifted

Mon, Jun 13 2022

For just over a decade now, the U.S. has had a federal tax credit worth up to $7,500 for buyers of electric cars and plug-in hybrids. The catch has been that, once 200,000 of them were claimed for a manufacturer, that credit would be phased out. Now, automakers are asking for this cap to be lifted across the board, specifically General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Stellantis. The request comes in the form of a joint letter to Congress (which you can read here), signed by the CEOs of each company. And the ask really is as simple as that. The automakers would like the cap lifted for all EV manufacturers, and instead have a sunset date for the tax credit put in place. Broadly speaking, they want it lifted because of concerns about rising costs from materials and supply chain issues, which can lead to higher prices and could discourage buyers from getting an EV. It would also put automakers back on an even playing field. GM reached its tax credit cap a few years ago, meaning that none of its EVs are eligible for the tax credit. So while it reaped the benefits early on, it now has something of a disadvantage to competitors with credits remaining, such as those that signed on to this letter. GM wouldn't be the only beneficiary. Tesla ran out of credits years ago, too. Nissan still has credits, but likely not for much longer, as InsideEVs reports around 190,000 Leafs have been sold in the U.S. as of April. So it will probably face a phase-out soon, just as the anticipated, and more expensive, Ariya is heading to market. Making this change would also seem like a good choice for continuing to stimulate EV sales, if that's what the government is looking to do. While EVs are now reaching parity in practicality and performance with gas-powered cars, having an additional financial incentive will surely keep them looking more attractive. And automakers can push EVs without fear of running out of credits early. Certainly some sorts of changes to the EV tax credit are likely. There are bills in the works focusing on cap changes as well as the amount of money available, and which vehicles are eligible. Credits up to $12,500 have been proposed, plus possible credits for used EV sales and restricting some credits to vehicles of certain price brackets. Of course, any changes will require some cooperation in a deeply divided Congress. Related Video: Government/Legal Green Chevrolet Chrysler Ford Toyota Electric EV tax credit

The most efficient gas or hybrid cars of 2024: Not the greenest, but still very green

Thu, Mar 14 2024

Not a single electric vehicle appears on the “greener choices” list assembled by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) in its annual compilation of the most environmentally friendly cars in the United States. But for potential car buyers seeking an efficient, fairly affordable gasoline or hybrid vehicle this year, the list of 12 cars, trucks and SUVs can help with decision making. Topping this yearÂ’s list was the gas/hybrid Honda Accord, priced at $33,990 with an estimated annual fuel cost of $982. Rank Make & Model Powertrain Vehicle Class Green Score MSRP Estimated Annual Fuel Cost* 1 Honda Accord Gas Hybrid Large Car 62 $33,990 $982 2 Kia Niro FE Gas Hybrid Compact SUV 61 $28,315 $885 3 Mitsubishi Mirage Gas Compact Car 59 $17,955 $1,189 4 Lexus ES 300h Gas Hybrid Midsize Car 59 $44,590 $1,073 5 Lexus NX 350h Gas Hybrid Midsize SUV 57 $43,465 $1,207 6 Ford Maverick Gas Hybrid Compact Pickup 55 $24,900 $1,297 7 Toyota Sienna Gas Hybrid Minivan 55 $39,080 $1,304 8 Mini Cooper Convertible Gas Subcompact Car 54 $35,700 $1,412 9 Toyota Highlander Gas Hybrid Large SUV 54 $40,720 $1,348 10 Kia Soul Gas Small Wagon 53 $21,565 $1,467 11 BMW Z4 sDrive30i Gas Two-Seater 50 $53,600 $1,626 12 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 Gas Hybrid Large Van 49 $43,000 $1,596 13 Volvo V90CC B6 Gas Hybrid Midsize Wagon 45 $59,800 $1,843 14 Ford Ranger Gas Standard Pickup 43 $32,670 $1,968 *ACEEE analysis using EIA data of the annual cost of driving 15,000 miles In making its evaluations, the ACEEE examines each 2024 model based on its cost to human health from air pollution associated with vehicle manufacturing and disposal, the production and distribution of fuel or electricity, and vehicle tailpipe emissions. The group also takes into account air pollution associated with EV battery manufacturing. The organization also ranks what it calls the “greenest” cars — it selected the Toyota Prius Prime SE plug-in hybrid is the greenest model of 2024. As well as the “Meanest.Â’Â’ or least efficient vehicle. At the top of that list this year was Mercedes-Benz AMG G63. The group says that the greener choices are those that are available nationwide “with among the lowest environmental impacts in each vehicle class but that didnÂ’t make the Greenest List.

Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with

Mon, 12 May 2014

Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
