Thanks for taking a look at this NO Reserve auction. I feel I have set my starting price at a very fair price, and if it sells for that somebody just got a real bargain. This is an extremely low mileage FJ60 that I currently use as my daily driver. I just got back from a 100 mile day trip and it runs flawlessly and tracks straight down the highway. It has the 4 speed transmission and cruises comfortably at 60 mph. If I were to keep and had the money for endless projects I would definitely put the H55f 5 speed transmission in that Toyota should have. For those who don't know it is a OEM Toyota transmission that bolts directly in, gives a lower first gear (why you would need that is beyond me) and a nice overdrive gear.
I have been driving this as my everyday driver for the past 1 1/2 years, and it NEVER left me stranded. It is built like a tank. I would continue but am currently working on a VW Vanagon engine conversion....so something has to go.
Some of the upgrades I have made.
- New Old Man Emu 2 1/2 inch suspension. Sits level and rides great now.
- New starter last month.
- New water pump same time.
- New front brakes and lines replaced
- Relay wiring harness with headlight upgrades to 80-100W
- Front seal on transfer case recently replaced
- New foam from SOR on drivers frontside.
- New rims, 31.5 inch tires probably have about 5k on them
- New slave cylinder
- New wires and distributer
- New KC daylighters, mounted but need to be wired (haven't gotten around to it)
- New after market stereo
- New side view mirrors (will include old ones too)
Probably other stuff I am forgetting. Some of the stuff that needs attention.
- Windows roll up and down fine, but a couple are a bit stiff
- Rear wiper works intermittently
- Small ding in front windshield (shown in photo)
- Some evident touch up paint on drivers door (shown in photo)
- Lower rocker panel on passenger side was removed to clean up some minor rust. I sanded to clean metal, primed and repainted, but have not gotten around to getting new fasteners. Will include it, but I would prob pop off other side and do same because they just trap water and invite rust.
- Some very small rust around wheel well, but nothing an afternoon with a little dremel tool and some touch up paint wouldnt take care of.
- AC blows but NOT cold. Have not tried a recharge.
- Rear side panels replaced with custom wood ones (probably should be in the good stuff, I like the way they look but just want to disclose everything before)
Truck was desmogged when I got it, and in NY does not need to pass emissions. Please take that into consideration and check with the laws in your state BEFORE bidding.
All in all a great truck, TONS of torque. Never done heavy off roading, so it is very clean for a 1986. Gets lots of comments whereever you go. Any questions please ask before. Shipping to be paid by the winning bidder. I will assist in loading if need be. Truck is on Long Island so local pick up fine.

Japanese automakers kick in $800k for new charging-station company
Mon, Jun 2 2014Cynics may say that gathering $800,000 (total) from four of Japan's largest automakers is merely a rounding error. Still, Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi, along with the Development Bank of Japan, are putting those funds to good use. So, that's something. Last week, those five entities officially founded Nippon Charge Service LLC. The company was established to promote plug-in vehicle charging installations across Japan and the automakers seeded it with 80 million yen, or about $786,000 US. Those funds will be used to help business owners deploy charging stations at convenience stores, highway-side locales and other locations that will make it easier for plug-in vehicle drivers (of Toyotas, Hondas, Mitsubishis and Nissans, obviously) to get their juice. The automakers first announced they'd collaborate last year, when they said they'd work with the Japanese government to more than triple the country's publicly accessible chargers to about 17,000 units. No targets were disclosed as far as how many charging stations would be deployed this time out, but, in a move similar to the EZ Charge system in the US, Nippon Charge Service will also have universally-accepted charging cards available by the end of the year to drivers all of those brands' plug-in vehicles to make the charging process a little more seamless. Check out Honda's press release below. TOKYO, Japan, May 30, 2014 - Toyota Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Honda Motor Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation jointly established a new company, Nippon Charge Service, LLC, on May 26 to promote the installation of chargers for electric-powered vehicles (PHVs, PHEVs, EVs). The goal is to help build a charging network that offers more convenience to drivers in Japan. The new company will promote the installation of chargers, for the good of society and to expand the use of electric-powered vehicles. Related industries are also expected to benefit. Scion's would-be savior C-HR spied before its Toyota rebadging
Wed, Feb 3 2016Scion is dead, but one of its future products, the C-HR concept, is still in development for launch as a Toyota. Toyota does a thorough job of hiding the C-HR's rakish shape on these test cars, but we can spot the concept's design cues. For example, the pointed nose and narrow headlights are present, and the giant box on the roof can't hide the downward arch for the coupe-like rear. The back doors on these examples look larger than before, which suggests a switch to a traditional five-door body rather than the hidden rear openings on the concept. The change would offer easier access to the backseat and make the C-HR a better competitor in the segment against vehicles like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Jeep Renegade. The C-HR debuted as a boldly styled three-door crossover at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Toyota later restyled the CUV with a more angular shape and extra doors. We most recently saw the compact crossover with Scion branding at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Rumors suggest the production model's debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it could arrive at dealers in the latter half of 2016. The powertrain lineup likely consists of a four-cylinder engine with a CVT and possibly a hybrid version, too. You'll also get to see the C-HR on the track because Toyota will race the crossover in the 2016 Nurburgring 24 Hours. Related Video:
Is 120 miles just about perfect for EV range?
Tue, Apr 15 2014When it comes to battery-electric vehicles, our friend Brad Berman over at Plug In Cars says 40 miles makes all the difference in the world. That's the approximate difference in single-charge range between the battery-electric version of the Toyota RAV4 and the Nissan Leaf. It's also the difference between the appearance or disappearance of range anxiety. The 50-percent battery increase has zapped any lingering range anxiety, Berman writes. The RAV4 EV possesses a 40-kilowatt-hour pack, compared to the 24-kWh pack in the Leaf. After factoring in differences in size, weight and other issues, that means the compact SUV gets about 120 miles on a single charge in realistic driving conditions, compared to about 80 miles in the Leaf. "The 50 percent increase in battery size from Leaf to RAV has zapped any lingering range anxiety," Berman writes. His observations further feed the notion that drivers need substantial backup juice in order to feel comfortable driving EVs. Late last year, the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), along with the Consumers Union estimated that about 42 percent of US households could drive plug-in vehicles with "little or no change" in their driving habits, and that almost 70 percent of US commuters drive fewer than 60 miles per weekday. That would imply that a substantial swath of the country should be comfortable using a car like the Leaf as their daily driver - with first-quarter Leaf sales jumping 46 percent from a year before, more Americans certainly are. Still, the implication here is that EV sales will continue to be on the margins until an automaker steps up battery capabilities to 120 or so miles while keeping the price in the $30,000 range. Think that's a reasonable goal to shoot for?
