Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Series on 2040-cars
Chagrin Falls, Ohio, United States
For sale is a 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser with all the bells & whistles. There is a reason why these trucks are the preferred vehicle for NATO forces worldwide. At 99,000 miles, it still looks, drives, and feels like a new vehicle. There is not a single squeak or rattle. I purchased this car from my father and hoped to have it for many, many years, but unfortunately it's about 1/2" taller than the frame of the garage door of the house I recently moved to. (Curb height is 74", FYI)
Land Cruisers are legendary because they are the perfect balance of power, comfort, and reliability. My wife describes this truck as "being able to go anywhere you want in your most comfortable piece of living room furniture." Land Cruiser owners tend to become very loyal. If you've driven one, then you understand why, and if you haven't, you owe it to yourself. This is my third Land Cruiser. I used to joke that my 1985 FJ60 would get me anywhere I wanted to go, just not very quickly. This 200 Series will get you anywhere you want to go, and it will get you there as quickly as you want. The 5.7L V8 is a beast. The front and rear brakes have all been serviced in 2013. I've had only one issue since I've owned this truck - a bad wheel bearing - and Toyota paid for 100% of the repair, even though it was outside of the warranty period. In fact, while the wheel bearing was being replaced, I also had the rear brakes serviced and an oil change, and Toyota picked up the tab for that too along with my rental car for no reason other than to make a customer happy. You will not find that kind of service with ANY other car company. You can read more about this truck here: http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/30/2011-toyota-land-cruiser-review/ |

Toyota recalling 800k Camry, Avalon and Venza models for AC issue
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Toyota has announced plans to voluntarily recall 803,000 vehicles from model years 2012 and 2013, over concerns with the air conditioning condenser housing. The recall covers the Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid and Venza, although the exact split between affected models wasn't available.
According to Toyota, the condenser can leak onto an airbag control module, which in turn could cause a short circuit. In most cases, this will just lead to an airbag warning light, but in rarer instances, the airbags could fail to deploy or pop out of their own accord. There's also a concern over a loss of power steering if the airbag control module develops a short.
It's unclear if there have been any injuries or crashes relating to the defects. Toyota will begin informing owners of affected vehicles via first class mail, and will ask them to report to dealerships for recall work, involving the installation of a cover on the condenser housing.
Toyota releases teaser for Kaley Cuoco Super Bowl ad
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Toyota has released a 35-second teaser video for its upcoming Super Bowl spot staring Kaley Cuoco, the actress best known for her role as object-of-nerd-affection Penny on The Big Bang Theory. The real star of the ad, however, is its soundtrack, the 1995 hit "I Wish" by rapper Skee-Lo that will have your mind cashing nostalgia checks the moment it hits your ears.
We still don't know much about the content, plot or story of this Super Bowl commercial, though we can say that its object of promotion is likely the new RAV4 we see Ms. Cuoco driving in this teaser. The rest of the time she's walking the street in a purple getup granting wishes like Robin Williams on a Disney sound stage. And then the Easter Bunny and a chihuahua enter the picture and we get lost. Clint Eastwood under a bridge this is not.
But hey, Super Bowl ads cost millions and millions of dollars to produce and air, so we trust that Toyota spent its money wisely and will have us ROFLing on game day. Until then, scroll down and witness for yourself the debut of Kaley Cuoco as a Toyota spokeswoman.
Next Toyota Prius coming in 60-mpg 'Eco Grade' version?
Tue, Sep 23 2014There's some mystery surrounding the fuel economy level of the next-generation Toyota Prius. The closest we've had to an official number is 55 miles per gallon, which was hinted at by Toyota Motor Corporation's managing officer, Satoshi Ogiso, last year. That number wasn't an official target, but the company even provided a graphic (above) showing how each next generation Prius beat the previous one by four or five mpg. Since the current, third-gen model gets 50, well, we have been left to guess that 55 is the next logical target. But, according to a new report in Automotive News, the new, fourth-generation Prius that's due next year will come in two versions, with one having a bigger ego – sorry, eco – than the other. AN says that the model will arrive with a standard nickel-metal hydride battery pack in a version that gets "about 55 mpg" and then a new "eco grade" version with a li-ion battery that "will be rated at more than 60 mpg." AN says this information came from company executives who were speaking at an August meeting with Toyota dealers. Our sources within Toyota say that they haven't heard anything about two high-efficiency models, so we'll take this with the requisite grain of salt. The current version of the Prius Plug-In Hybrid does use lithium-ion batteries, but this is the non-plug model the dealers are talking about. We think. The dual-battery strategy is certainly a rumor we've heard before. We had thought that the li-ion pack would be for an extended EV range (the current Prius has a barely noticeable EV-only range), but such a pack would be lighter and could boost efficiency, too. In other words, we look forward to hearing more during the upcoming auto show season.
