Rare Diesel Clean Low Miles Rh Drive on 2040-cars
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States
I am listing for sale an all original, Rare, 1988 Toyota LJ71 Land Cruiser 2.4L Diesel, Right Hand Drive, Manual Transmission. Excellent condition. 88,000 km (approximately 48,800 miles) One small scratch on the left hand side door. Power windows, power locks, cold Air Conditioning, Fog Lights, AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB/Bluetooth Player. New tires. I am the second owner. I imported this vehicle from Japan starting in January, took possession in late April after shipping and going through customs. The vehicle is in excellent condition. No accidents or damage. Runs and drives great, as expected. The roof rack in the pictures is included if the buyer wants it. I took it off because it wouldn't fit in my garage.
The actual VIN is: LJ 710004224. eBay only allows for 17 digit VINs. What I've done to the vehicle: Replaced the aftermarket Japanese CD player with a new Kenwood Unit. Replaced the original tires Replaced the front steering stabilizer (shock) Removed the aftermarket tint Eliminated the clutch booster and replaced the master cylinder The roof rack in the pictures is included if the buyer wants it. I took it off because it wouldn't fit in my garage. What needs to be done: Fill it up and drive This vehicle runs and drives great. I have taken a couple of 100+ mile trips on the highway. It cruises along at around 65-70 comfortably. Rides great. Most of the miles I have put on it are local, daily driver miles. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning it and driving it. It is a joy to drive. It gets looks everywhere I go. It is incredibly rare here in the US. Gets excellent gas mileage. The interior carpet is a little worn but isn't bad. The seats are in great condition with no tears or rips. The body is in near perfect condition. It is as nice of a 70 Series Land Cruiser as I have ever seen. You won't be disappointed. I have the vehicle listed locally as well as on another site. I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell it elsewhere. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Feel free to ask any questions. |

NHTSA investigating 30,000 Toyota Camry Hybrids for brake assist problems
Mon, Jan 27 2014Older model Toyota Camry Hybrids are under investigation by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for potential braking problems. Enough complaints have poured into the NHTSA website that the agency is now taking a look at the problem, which could affect around 30,000 vehicles from the 2007 and 2008 model years. According to Reuters, 59 complaints have been submitted revolving around an "intermittent loss of assisted braking" which means the car takes longer to stop. Interestingly, the rate of complaints is increasing. Toyota is reportedly cooperating with NHTSA and there has not yet been an official recall on the Camry Hybrids. In 2006, Toyota said Brake Assist was "an electronic function that senses an emergency stop and applies increased braking power once the driver touches the brake pedal." When Toyota unveiled the 2007 Camry Hybrid, it proudly stated that the new Brake Assist function would be standard. Other Toyota hybrids have had problems with their brakes in the past, including the 2010 Prius and Lexus HS 250h hybrid. You can read some of the complaints about Brake Assist in the Camry Hybrids to the NHTSA here. People are saying that the "Check VSC" lights can come on before the brakes loose some of their power and a lot of them are being quoted repair costs of over $3,000 by Toyota dealers. General Motors became second-largest US advertiser in 2013
Fri, 28 Mar 2014General Motors might be mired in several recalls, as well as the ongoing investigations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Congress into the automaker's response to those recalls. However, the company can celebrate taking the title of the US' second-largest advertiser in 2013. According to Ad Week examining a recently released study, total advertising spending in the US posted its fourth consecutive year of rising expenditures with 0.9-percent growth to $140.2 billion. Of that, the auto industry spent $15.2 billion to promote its goods in 2013, up 3.8 percent.
The country's biggest advertiser was Procter and Gamble, which dropped $3.17 billion in 2013, an increase of 11.8 percent. GM became the nation's second largest promoter with $1.794 billion in spending, up 10 percent. The biggest proportion of that money went to sell Cadillac and GMC. AT&T barely lost out with $1.793 billion in advertising, 15.2 percent growth. The 10 businesses with the highest ad investments spent a cumulative $15.9 billion during the year, 6.6 percent higher than 2012. Toyota came in eighth place making it the only other automaker to rank in the top 10.
The study also indicates that there is a shift in advertising spending from television and print to the Internet. There was 15.7 percent more money outlaid to promote products online in 2013 than the previous year. In comparison, television dropped 0.1 percent, newspapers were down 3.7 percent and radio fell 5.6 percent.
Toyota sold a million hybrids in last nine months, 6M since 1997
Wed, Jan 15 2014Toyota's first hybrid model – the Prius – went on sale in 1997 in Japan. It took 14 years for the company to see a cumulative total of three million hybrids (a mark reached in March 2011). Today, Toyota announced that its global sales figures of all of its gas-electric models (and there are a lot of them now, including ones we've barely heard of here in the US, like the Crown Majesta or the Harrier Hybrid) have reached six million. Toyota calculates that all those hybrids have saved 41 million tons of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere. Toyota's ever-increasing hybrid sales pace means the company sold as many in the last three years as it did in the first fourteen. As you can see in our chart, the trendline shows that we'll hit the next-million mark in short order. In fact, Toyota says that it sold a million hybrids in the last nine months, the shortest time it has ever taken the automaker to sell that many hybrids. Part of the reason is that there are 24 hybrid Toyota and Lexus models available around the world, and Toyota says another 15 will be coming in the next two years. Anyone want to guess when Toyota will hit seven million? August? Worldwide Sales of Toyota Hybrids Top 6 Million Units Toyota City, Japan, January 15, 2014-Toyota Motor Corporation announces that cumulative global sales of its hybrid vehicles topped the 6 million unit mark as of December 31, 2013, reaching 6.072 million units1. The latest million-unit milestone was achieved in the fastest time yet for Toyota, taking just nine months. Helping mitigate the environmental effects of vehicles is a priority at Toyota. Based on its belief that environment-friendly vehicles can only truly have a positive impact if they are widely used, Toyota has endeavored to encourage the mass-market adoption of hybrid vehicles. As of this month, Toyota sells 24 hybrid passenger car models and one plug-in hybrid model in approximately 80 countries and regions around the world. Furthermore, within the next two years, Toyota will launch a total of 15 new hybrid vehicles worldwide, including the new "Harrier Hybrid" in Japan on January 15 and the new "Highlander Hybrid" in the United States in the near future. Toyota will continue augmenting its product lineup even further and increasing the number of countries and regions where it sells hybrid vehicles.
