Fj62 Toyota Land Cruiser 1989 on 2040-cars
Tucson, Arizona, United States
1989 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj62, 4WD. All original, in superb condition.
Runs perfectly and is absolutely beautiful. A/C is very cold.
No mechanical or electrical issues. Engine runs strong & transmission is smooth.
NO RUST! This Land Cruiser has lived in the desert of Tucson, Az. for its entire life. There is no rust for new owner to remove.
Two owners only; I bought this vehicle from a friend in 1992 and I have owned it ever since.
All maintenance records. Original tool kit and jack. Original owner's manual, original window invoice from 1989.
This vehicle has never been in an accident. The body has no dents. It has had no body work whatsoever. It has never sat un-driven for more than two weeks.
It has brand new BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires.
New front brakes. Other recent work includes front seal and gearbox replacement.
Everything is original (even has the original mud flaps and carpet) except radio, which was replaced with a Pioneer FH-P4100. And seats were recovered many years ago to match original.
Vehicle has always passed emissions 1st try.
No smoker has ever sat in this vehicle.
New owner must pick up or make arrangements to ship vehicle. I am a private party with no experience in shipping vehicles!
The negatives are few, but must be mentioned. First and foremost, this is a 25 year old vehicle... if you want brand new & perfect then buy a new Land Cruiser! The paint is original and there is some natural fade on the hood and driver's side window frame. I have done my best to capture this in photos. The seats are slightly worn, as shown in the photos (but no rips or tears). There are significant cracks on the top of the dash on the driver's side (but no cracks on the passenger's side, or the front of the dash... i.e. instrument panel). The sale includes a matching dashmat. The engine has minor drips (as do all old Land Cruisers). The rear passenger's inside door panel has cracks down low, which are shown in photos. The passenger's side front speaker cover has minor cracks which can be seen in photos. I am unsure if the antenna motor works, because the radio has always worked great in the down position and I'm afraid to try it! There are, of course, minor blemishes on the paint which any 25 year old vehicle will have.
I am not a mechanic and I know nothing about vehicle restoration... so if I've left anything out please ask questions.
These are incredible iconic vehicles. Thanks for looking!! $500 Nonrefundable deposit is due immediately via Paypal. The balance must be paid in full within 3 days of auction close by cash in person, or certified check/money order via FEDEX.
Sorry... the fine print. There are no warranties. This vehicle is sold as is. You are encouraged to come and inspect the vehicle prior to making an offer or placing a bid. If you are unable to come see it, you can hire an independent inspection service to check the vehicle for you. This is a 25 year old vehicle and there will be blemishes. There will be signs of wear and tear that do not show up in pictures or descriptions despite my best efforts. As much as I have tried to represent this vehicle fairly, my impression of this vehicle may vary from yours. |

Audi investing $30.3 billion through 2018 for product expansion
Sun, 29 Dec 2013How does Audi plan to reach two million units in annual sales and pay for the 11 new models it's adding to its lineup - an expansion that may include models named SQ2, Q9 and F-Tron? By increasing its investment to 22 billion euros ($30.3 billion US) between now and 2018. That figure represents an increase of about 500 million euros over the previously planned outlay, according to a report by Automotive News, and that could be due to Audi wishing to goad the momentum that pushed it to 1.5 million annual sales two years ahead of schedule.
It's also about staving off the challenges from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now that BMW has been able to turn some of its attention away from its "i" series of Megacity cars, it will reportedly spend more than planned in 2014 as it continues the rollout of ten all-new vehicles and 15 new-generation vehicles through the end of next year. Mercedes, having been dropped to third in the sales race, is preparing to add 13 new cars over the next six years.
Audi's money is going into technology, into product like the next-generation TT and the Q1 and production expansions and upgrades all over the world. The expenditure represents just under a fourth of Volkswagen's 84.2 billion-euro ($115.7 US) outlay devoted to taking the number-one global automaker title away from General Motors and Toyota by 2018.
Automakers not currently promoting EVs are probably doomed
Mon, Feb 22 2016Okay, let's be honest. The sky isn't falling – gas prices are. In fact, some experts say that prices at the pump will remain depressed for the next decade. Consumers have flocked to SUVs and CUVs, reversing the upward trend in US fuel economy seen over the last several years. A sudden push into electric vehicles seems ridiculous when gas guzzlers are selling so well. Make hay while the sun shines, right? A quick glance at some facts and figures provides evidence that the automakers currently doubling down on internal combustion probably have some rocky years ahead of them. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is a prime example of a volume manufacturer devoted to incremental gains for existing powertrains. Though FCA will kill off some of its more fuel-efficient models, part of its business plan involves replacing four- and five-speed transmissions with eight- and nine-speed units, yielding a fuel efficiency boost in the vicinity of ten percent over the next few years. Recent developments by battery startups have led some to suggest that efficiency and capacity could increase by over 100 percent in the same time. Research and development budgets paint a grim picture for old guard companies like Fiat Chrysler: In 2014, FCA spent about $1,026 per car sold on R&D, compared with about $24,783 per car sold for Tesla. To be fair, FCA can't be expected to match Tesla's efforts when its entry-level cars list for little more than half that much. But even more so than R&D, the area in which newcomers like Tesla have the industry licked is infrastructure. We often forget that our vehicles are mostly useless metal boxes without access to the network of fueling stations that keep them rolling. While EVs can always be plugged in at home, their proliferation depends on a similar network of charging stations that can allow for prolonged travel. Tesla already has 597 of its 480-volt Superchargers installed worldwide, and that figure will continue to rise. Porsche has also proposed a new 800-volt "Turbo Charging Station" to support the production version of its Mission E concept, and perhaps other VW Auto Group vehicles. As EVs grow in popularity, investment in these proprietary networks will pay off — who would buy a Chevy if the gas stations served only Ford owners? If anyone missed the importance of infrastructure, it's Toyota.
2014 Toyota Tundra appears with revised styling, same mechanicals
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Toyota has pulled the curtain back on its 2014 Tundra, showing a truck that has gotten its most significant refresh since its launch as a 2007 model. For better or worse, however, the changes that Toyota has made to the fullsize pickup are mostly cosmetic, with the underpinnings of the vehicle staying unchanged.
The most obvious revision for 2014 is to the bluff front fascia of the truck. There's a new, taller squared-off grille decorating the Tundra's nose, along with a revised, three-part front bumper design. The optional black grille-frame strikes us as an acquired taste, to say the least, but other models, like the Limited above, is all clad in chrome. Fenders and wheel wells are more square than in the out-going truck, too. Perhaps most significant is the revised bed design, which Toyota calls "all-new," with new sheet metal on the sides, a revised tailgate and a very subtle integrated spoiler.
Inside, Toyota has given buyers some new seats and a new-look instrument panel. A backup camera (always handy on big trucks) is now standard equipment on all grades, as is Bluetooth connectivity. Blind spot monitoring is a new, optional feature as well. In all, as with the exterior mods, the changes in-cabin are far more evolutionary than revolutionary.
