Desert Climate Toyota Land Cruiser on 2040-cars
Milton, Florida, United States
Toyota BJ40 Import VIN BJ40-010077
This is a foreign import Land Cruiser. I am an importer, bonded and registered with US Customs. I imported this Land Cruiser along with a Land Rover Defender. I have all import documents to validate the import and clear title on the vehicle. We did a full restoration on the Land Rover and now due to my flight school schedule I don't feel I have the time or money to do the Land Cruiser proper. This vehicle is a clean daily driver, rust free, documented desert climate vehicle from day 1. It runs well with 186K miles on a diesel BJ 4 cylinder engine, its really just broken in, not high miles considering it is a diesel. Its strong, gasket tight and ready to drive and enjoy. My opinion is to media blast and repaint in the same classic color scheme. Media blasting is not a necessity but in my experience when a mediocre paint job is put over the original, it is best to media blast and start fresh. We have a facility we use who specialize in media blasting classic cars , then priming with epoxy sealer. We would be willing to facilitate this on request. If you are looking for an original Land Cruiser classic ready to drive and enjoy this is a great Toyota for it. If you are looking to restore a classic Land Cruiser which will command 35K plus this is a great Land Cruiser to work from. It's already a solid vehicle with a little TLC it can be the Land Cruiser envy. As I mentioned before I am in flight school under an intensive schedule which is time consuming and also very costly so I would be better to sell this one and help pay my expenses. The vehicle has been mechanically maintained. Recently it has received a new water pump. New thermostat and housing. New break master cylinder. I have tried to photo the best I can to show the vehicle condition. If you know what you're looking at then most of the photos will make sense. If I didn't get the shot you're looking for then message me and I will send you the photo angle you desire.I have a lot of additional photos I can email. There is no rust on the frame or under carriage and many of the additional photos I have show that. New Tires will be necessary. All questions welcome. We are just outside Pensacola FL and you are welcome to view the vehicle or send someone on your behalf. We have had some local interest so we reserve the right to cancel the listing at anytime, however I aim to honor the auction process. If you want to speak in person message me and I will give you a contact number. Thank you for your interest. |

Incrementally better than ever | 2017 Toyota 86 First Drive
Tue, Oct 4 2016We'd love to tell you that the incremental upgrades bestowed upon Toyota's rear-wheel-drive coupe as it made its transition from Scion FR-S to Toyota 86 have transformed it into a perfect sportscar. If only a few more horsepower, shorter rear-end gearing, and tiny aero updates were enough to quell all the complaints that enthusiasts have leveled at the machine since the platform first hit the road in 2012, this review would have been so much more satisfying to write. Sadly, that's not the case. Don't get us wrong. The 86 is still extremely fun to toss around a twisty road. The chassis is impressively balanced, the steering is direct, and the shifter is sweet. Sorry to impart upon you this well-worn trope, but the old adage that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow is, in this case, completely accurate. The 2017 Toyota 86 is nothing if not entertaining. But it's not completely new. It hasn't been transformed. It is, in the end, the same as it ever was. It will take about three minutes of your time to watch the videos below, in which we cover pretty much everything that's new for the 2017 Toyota 86. Toyota 86s equipped with manual transmissions get a five-pony boost to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Automatic models soldier forth with a carryover 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 200 hp and 151 lb-ft. Apparently, more than half of Scion FR-S buyers chose the automatic. That's unfortunate, as it drains a good deal of the fun out of the 86 experience. Choose the manual and you'll be rewarded with an easy clutch and a rewarding short-throw shifter. And, as we said, five more ponies, courtesy of intake and exhaust tweaks and the polishing of some internal engine components. The only upside to the automatic is improved fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. Manual 86s are EPA-rated at 21/28. Along with the small bump in power, the 2017 86 gets a 4.3:1 rear-end gear ratio in lieu of the old 4.1:1 unit. That ought to translate into a small improvement in acceleration that really only matters on paper. In the real world, on actual roads, the difference is negligible. To eke the most out of the 86, you have to constantly work the shifter and keep the engine north of 5,000 rpm. It's still not particularly quick, but it's definitely fun. There's plenty of noise inside the 86, from the wind, the road, and the engine.
Rod Millen to face Monster Tajima in Electric Division of Pikes Peak Hill Climb
Mon, 11 Feb 2013The 91st running of the Pike's Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled to begin on June 30. Like last year's event, the 12.42 mile course - fully paved these days - starts at 9,390 feet elevation and doesn't stop climbing until it reaches an impressive 14,110 feet (the air is so thin up there that the FAA requires pilots to use oxygen at that altitude).
There will be an assortment of internal combustion machines racing to the summit, entries from France, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Sweden, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Belgium, but all eyes will be on the electric showdown between Rod Millen and Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima, from Japan. 61-year-old Millen is a familiar name to Toyota racing fans, and he will be driving the Toyota TMG EV P002 (it won the Electric title last year), while Tajima will be again piloting the Monster Sport E-Runner (which was forced out of the field last year after a fire broke out).
Other entrants include Rhys Millen driving a 2013 Hyundai PM58OT and Paul Dallenbach, who will be driving Millen's Hyundai Genesis Coupe (it set the all-time speed mark last year).
Toyota releases teaser for Kaley Cuoco Super Bowl ad
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Toyota has released a 35-second teaser video for its upcoming Super Bowl spot staring Kaley Cuoco, the actress best known for her role as object-of-nerd-affection Penny on The Big Bang Theory. The real star of the ad, however, is its soundtrack, the 1995 hit "I Wish" by rapper Skee-Lo that will have your mind cashing nostalgia checks the moment it hits your ears.
We still don't know much about the content, plot or story of this Super Bowl commercial, though we can say that its object of promotion is likely the new RAV4 we see Ms. Cuoco driving in this teaser. The rest of the time she's walking the street in a purple getup granting wishes like Robin Williams on a Disney sound stage. And then the Easter Bunny and a chihuahua enter the picture and we get lost. Clint Eastwood under a bridge this is not.
But hey, Super Bowl ads cost millions and millions of dollars to produce and air, so we trust that Toyota spent its money wisely and will have us ROFLing on game day. Until then, scroll down and witness for yourself the debut of Kaley Cuoco as a Toyota spokeswoman.
