After Land Cruiser - What was Far became Near.

SURVIVOR ALERT!

A vehicle is only original once. Anyone can write a check to restore something but it’s never quite the same. There are those of us that place the greatest value on largely untouched classics. If you are one of these people, you will appreciate this remarkable Freeborn Red 1980 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 with 51,200 Kilometers (<32,000) original miles. There are a few things I could have painted, touched up or attempted to refurbish but I did not. What you see here is an original Land Cruiser FJ40 that has seen very little use over the las 34 years.

I call this truck "Colombian Soul" as this Land Cruiser FJ40 was originally from Colombia. She's a remarkable "preservation class" FJ40! You can see every spot weld on this truck and she has all the glory of a rust free survivor, She looks, drives and runs like you would expect from a vehicle with 32,000 miles, pull the choke, turn the key and she bursts to life every time.

She’s not restored, not repainted, not rebuilt. She’s ORIGINAL AND WELL PRESERVED! Here's your chance to own this epic original 1980 Land Cruiser FJ40 that retains her original paint, interior, engine, and drive train. She’s obviously been cared for with devoted attention and nothing has been done to impact the originality other than some great upgrades along the way. Her original paint is in beautiful condition. This is great Land Cruiser, rust free un-restored and pure understated COOL. Just turn the key and the fun begins!

A Little South American Land Cruiser Info -
Normally, trucks from Colombia are “bare bones”, they did not have power steering, A/C, dash pads, emission equipment, disc brakes, roll bars, bucket seats or even heaters. But this truck HAS power steering, A/C with new compressor, heater, front disc brakes (new pads), Stock roll bar, split bench in front, long jump seats in back, fog lamps and more, She’s in excellent condition. While nearly all Colombian trucks were delivered as soft tops, this gal has an aftermarket MPR fiberglass hard top that appears to have been on the truck since day one.

Details & Condition

The truck has a precious few nicks and scratches that come with 34 years of age but any owner would be proud of her overall condition. I have pictured the body in detail and you will also find a video. She runs and drives excellent and isn't even broken in. You will NOT find diamond plate, fender flares, tape decks, CB antenna, bed lining, jerry cans, roof racks, a V8 or other modifications. The inline six looks and runs great! I put all new plug wires and gave her a tune up just due to the age of the components. Steering, clutch and 4-Wheel Drive transmission are all in excellent working order as they should be for a vehicle with such little use. This FJ40's body, undercarriage and frame are excellent. None of the FJ40 rust issues exist here.

The floors are all solid and shine with factory paint and the original sound and heat barrier applied by Toyota. The interior is excellent and EVERYTHING works, as it should. The radio is vintage and I assume was installed by the dealer. The A/C blows cold and heater works well, turn signals, hazards, headlight high and low beams, wipers, taillights, backup lights, license plate lights, odometer, speedometer, fuel, oil, amp and temp gauges all functioning flawlessly. The original upholstery has one tear on the drivers side bolster (pictured) but is otherwise excellent. There are speakers installed in the hard top but they are not connect to an audio source. The working radio speaker is under the front seat.

The truck has 3.70 gears and the H41 transmission with "Granny Low". This FJ40’s suspension, which consists of rugged solid axles and OEM leaf springs at both ends, has a raised stance with 33x7.50 tires. At the back of the truck's frame you will find the factory rear step, flanked by the original bumpettes to assist your passengers who want to climb in back. The MPR hard top has one big swing out door rather than ambulance doors. This provides improved visibility in the rear view mirror. Under it all you will find OEM 16 inch steel gray split rims and hubcaps with AVM locking hubs surrounded by 10 ply General  LT 33x7.50 tires that have plenty of life left in them. Hanging on the swing out rear tire carrier is the matching spare tire.

  Mileage and Use

This truck is a bit of a mystery, she was in Omaha when I found her. I don't know when she came to the USA but I DO know from her beautiful condition she's been stored inside. I have a couple of the previous owners names but have unable to contact them.  This Land Cruiser has been driven only 32,000 miles in her 34 years, pop the hood and you'll find an original 135 horsepower 2F six cylinder which looks and runs great! The whole truck reeks with low miles. The dash, the seats, the floors, the engine bay and the undercarriage all bear witness to the odometer reading. Driven an average of just 940 miles a year and she’s now waiting for your next adventure!

All in all, everything is in unbelievable original condition. STUDY THE PHOTOS and WATCH THE VIDEO. High bidder is responsible for pick up or delivery, I will assist in any way I can. I would like a wire transfer within 7 business days please. FJ40’s like this are rare, hard to come by and continue to appreciate if well cared for. I encourage you to call me at (515) 864 1275 and thanks for looking! I reserve the right to end this Auction early, (which is usually what happens). If you know FJ40’s, you know what your looking at and just how few there are like this left. This is an “Investment Grade” Land Cruiser FJ40.

Scion's would-be savior C-HR spied before its Toyota rebadging

Wed, Feb 3 2016

Scion is dead, but one of its future products, the C-HR concept, is still in development for launch as a Toyota. Toyota does a thorough job of hiding the C-HR's rakish shape on these test cars, but we can spot the concept's design cues. For example, the pointed nose and narrow headlights are present, and the giant box on the roof can't hide the downward arch for the coupe-like rear. The back doors on these examples look larger than before, which suggests a switch to a traditional five-door body rather than the hidden rear openings on the concept. The change would offer easier access to the backseat and make the C-HR a better competitor in the segment against vehicles like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Jeep Renegade. The C-HR debuted as a boldly styled three-door crossover at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Toyota later restyled the CUV with a more angular shape and extra doors. We most recently saw the compact crossover with Scion branding at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Rumors suggest the production model's debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it could arrive at dealers in the latter half of 2016. The powertrain lineup likely consists of a four-cylinder engine with a CVT and possibly a hybrid version, too. You'll also get to see the C-HR on the track because Toyota will race the crossover in the 2016 Nurburgring 24 Hours. Related Video:

Toyota again claims Corolla outsold Focus worldwide

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Toyota isn't convinced the Ford Focus was the best-selling nameplate globally last year. Bloomberg reports that for the second time in seven months, both Toyota and Ford are laying claim to the title. Ford cites R.L. Polk & Co. data that says the automaker moved some 1.02 million Focus models in 2012 compared to just 872,774 Toyota Corolla units. But Toyota says the actual figure is closer to 1.16 million Corolla models.
Last year, Ford said it took the sales crown through the fist half of 2012 based on information from IHS Automotive, but Toyota pointed out those numbers left out models like the Corolla-based Matrix and Auris, as well as the Corolla Fielder and Scion xB-based Corolla Rumion. Whether or not Toyota's belief that all these cars should be counted in the Corolla bucket is accurate or not is seemingly up for debate... as is the question of why it matters so much to both parties.
This time around, Ford is holding the line that the Focus is the "best-selling nameplate," with Erich Merkle, a US sales analyst with Ford saying the company's figure is, "a pure number that is verified by a third party." Toyota, meanwhile, has requested clarification from Polk.

Average transaction prices climb to a record $36,270 in January

Sat, Feb 3 2018

The automotive sector made a hash of the numbers last month, a mess of pluses and minuses clogging the transaction-price charts according to Kelley Blue Book. The overall industry rose one percent, even though buyers bought fewer cars and light vehicles in January 2018 vs 2017 using the selling-day adjusted rate. Due to January transaction prices rising to $36,270, a record for January, the value of new vehicles sold climbed more than $1 billion compared to January 2017. KBB's transaction prices don't include customer incentives, which changes the complexion slightly; average incentive spending rose to just over ten percent. The average transaction price in December 2017 was $36,756, so January dropped a bit - nothing unexpected, with the month annually blamed for "January doldrums." More revealing is the fact that the average transaction price in January 2017 was $34,910. This year's plumped-up figure came courtesy of the continued shift to crossovers, SUVs, and light trucks, which shouldn't surprise anyone who's read an automotive blog in the past 20 years. That category comprised nearly 70 percent of new vehicle sales for the month. Some manufacturers profited more than others, though. Fiat Chrysler managed 12.8 percent fewer sales in January compared year-on-year, but the company's vehicles sold for $1,300 more. The Ford brand suffered a 6.3-percent dip in sales, but brand transaction prices increased $2,000, while a Lincoln sold for $8,700 more on average. General Motors sold more cars and sold them for more money; overall GM transaction prices rose four percent, or $1,270, while a GMC traded hands for seven-percent more than in January 2017 and a Cadillac got $2,300 more on average. Of KBB's listed automakers, the Volkswagen Group got the most of out its customers, transaction prices rising at the German automaker by 5.6 percent to $42,243 in January 2018 compared to a year earlier. American Honda followed with a 4.3-percent increase to $28,991, GM in third at 4.1 percent to $40,313. Find your next car at Autoblog using our new and used car listings or the Car Finder tool. Broken out by segment, minivans rocked the table, transaction prices leaping by 7.9 percent to $35,380 compared to January a year earlier. Luxury cars boasted the next-highest rise, at 3.6 percent to $58,533.
