searching for exceptional and interesting examples. This one definitely is both. It's been my daily driver for the
past few months, but now it's time to make room for another one.
1997 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series in excellent condition. One family owned up until 2015. This is one of the few
"Poverty Pack" 80 Series in the US and is probably the nicest. Considered the "Holy Grail" not for what it has, but
for what it doesn't have. No Sunroof. No Leather. No CD Player. No 3rd Row Seats. No Fender Flares. No Sliding Side
Windows. No Running Boards. No Window Tint. No Alloy Wheels. No Frills.....(you get the point).
Fully locked with front, center and rear e-lockers. Old Man Emu (ARB) shocks with OME 2.5" springs in the front,
stock springs with 1.25" Slee Spacers in the rear. TJM Winch Bumper. 255/85/16 BFG Mud Terrain KM tires on freshly
powder coated steelies. Lloyd Rubber Mats.
Runs and drives perfectly. No leaks, squeaks or rattles. Everything works except the power antenna. No damage
history. $8,000 has been spent in the last 6 months on the following maintenance and improvements: Head gasket,
water pump, plugs, wires, belts, hoses, Interstate battery, fluids, A/C charge, new windshield, TJM Bumper,
re-paint and probably a few other things I can't remember.

Stellantis and Toyota expand partnership with large commercial van

Stellantis said on Monday it would expand its partnership with Toyota Motor Europe (TME) with a new large commercial van, including an electric version. Stellantis will supply TME, a unit of Japan's Toyota Motor Corp, with the new vehicle for sale in Europe under the Toyota brand, it said. The van will be produced at Stellantis plants in Gliwice, Poland, and Atessa, Italy. "Planned for mid-2024, the new large-size commercial van marks TME's first entry into the large-size commercial vehicle segment," Stellantis added in a statement. The deal widens the partnership between the two companies and allows a better optimization of Stellantis' Atessa plant, which currently makes large vans sold under the Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat marques. "It represents an important addition and completes our light commercial line-up for Toyota's European customers," Stellantis said. Paris-listed shares in Stellantis were up 1.6% by 0941 GMT. Carmakers have increasingly been agreeing cross-manufacturing deals to reduce costs in vans, which due to a boom in parcel delivery are seeing large demand — and where electric vehicle versions are also seeing rising sales to carry out "last-mile" deliveries in city centers. Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks

Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
