1997 Toyota Land Cruiser 40th Needs Work! on 2040-cars
Bangor, Maine, United States
I am selling this Toyota land cruiser for my son. It has just over 187,000 miles on it. It has been in the family for almost ten years and it has never let us down. With that being said it is getting older and does need some work. Serious bidders only! walk around/drive video
The Good: LOTS OF LIFE LEFT! Motor is strong as well as the tranny 40th anniversary Clean interior Runs Great! Drives straight Reliable! Moon roof 3rd row seating 2.5" Ems stainless header back exhaust Tinted windows Unstoppable Four-Wheel-Drive Factory Lockers It has 1 Michelin 265/70/r 16 spare It has 3 Michelin 275/70 r16 with 3-5k on them Two tone leather interior (see pics) Kenwood head unit Wired for sub No funny smells
The Bad: It has some dents/dings/scratches/rust Rarely something bangs in the front end only while wheels are cut in reverse and it has done it for years... sometimes it will go months without doing it. It has never caused any problems. The rear brake line leaks The bumper is pushed in (see pics) The lockers sometimes stick (They weren't used much) Check engine light is on and has been for years Ice fell off neighbors roof and dinged up (see pics) It need a stainless exhaust bracket welded and possibly new flex connectors eventually Missing front passenger wheel flare (Broken clips I still have it and will include it) Needs one tire (other three have 3-5k on them) Small oil leak never leaves more than a dime size on the ground (it has for about 4 years and it has never gotten any bigger) Dirty engine bay Needs rear hatch handle Drivers side windows slow when cold A/c has a leak and needs a belt Small chip in windshield (see Video) It has been in a small accident (under 5 mph) that only scratched the paint on the plastic ends of the bumper. This was not what pushed the bumper in. The bumper was pushed in by an ice covered snow bank.
As you can see I am being as honest as I can about the issues that it has... With that being said this vehicle has been driven around by my family and I for almost a decade and has never left us stranded. My son is still driving it to school. Sold as is with no warranty. The buyer is responsible for transporting the vehicle. Paypal Only! Non refundable $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auctions end and full payment due within seven days of auctions end |

Toyota NA CEO says his excitement for hydrogen sedan is rising
Fri, Apr 4 2014Toyota has an undeniable vested interest in seeing its hydrogen sedan succeed when it goes on sale in the US next year, so it's no surprise that the company's North American CEO, Jim Lentz, says that he's got more hope for the car now than ever before. And if we remember ways that others in the company, like Bob Carter, have loudly sung hydrogen's praises, we have to assume that positivity is running awful high in Torrance. In fact, Lentz said that the US side of the company is far more excited by the H2 car than colleagues in Japan. Speaking at The Wall Street Journal's ECO:nomics conference in Santa Barbara, CA this week, Lentz said: After we've seen the product, understand its range, its driving dynamics, its refueling, we're a lot more bullish than Japan - probably about fivefold more bullish. It's just a question of how many can be produced now. Well, we've driven this car, and we still feel that Toyota is placing a big bet on the technology. One important issue is cost, but Lentz would not say exactly how much the car costs to make or what it will be priced at. He did say, though, that the production cost has dropped by 95 percent from the $1 million price tag the car wore ten years ago. That hints at a production cost of around $50,000. Lentz also said he thinks it will take at least a decade for hydrogen vehicles to hit sales of 500,000 per year in the US. Speaking to Bloomberg, he said: Their acceptance could get off to a quicker start than the hybrids did. I think you're going to see a lot more marketing of the concept of fuel cell much sooner than you did for hybrids, because basically the whole industry is behind it.
Toyota to drop regular-cab Tacoma as small pickups take another hit
Fri, 02 Aug 2013Even as General Motors prepares to redesign its midsize pickups, the market for sub-fullsize trucks continues to shrink. The remaining competitors in the segment are the well-aged Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma, and now Truck Trend is reporting that the latter will be dropping its regular cab model due to poor sales.
According to the article, the available configurations for the Tacoma lineup will be whittled down in 2015, which apparently spells the end for the two-door Taco. The Tacoma is currently the last truck in its class to be offered in a regular cab configuration, with the Frontier no longer offering a standard cab model and spy shots of the next-gen Chevrolet Colorado not revealing any glimpse of a short cab, either.
Toyota hits 10 million Camry models sold in US
Tue, 02 Jul 2013This year marks 30 years of sales for the Toyota Camry in the US, and in that time, it has amassed more than 10 million sales. In its first year on the market, the Camry sold 52,651 units, but it has gone on to become the best-selling car in the US for the last 11 years.
Toyota says that "virtually all" current Camry models sold in the US are made here, and three-quarters of all Camry contents are domestically sourced. Scroll down for the official press release from Toyota, and be sure to check out our gallery of images showing every model year and bodystyle of the Camry since it first went on sale in 1983.
