eMail me for more details : melisaimsgeorge@contractor.net Up for sale is my 1995 Toyota FJZ80. It's a California truck that I boughtlast year. I stored it indoors all winter and it's never seen salt. Ibought it last fall and just don't have the time to use it as it should. Ihave taken in on 4 trips over the summer and it always got to and from ourdestination without issues. I am currently using it to commute to work 10 milesround trip so its hard to justify keeping it. I have a spreadsheet of all thework done by the previous owner. I have made a few minor repairs myself butnothing major. The truck will need the rear pinion bearing replaced and thefront axle needs a wheel bearing. The truck runs and drives without issueotherwise. Below is a list of the equipment that comes with the truck. It doesnot leak or burn oil at all. My plan for the exterior of the truck was to paintthe fenders but I have not gotten to it. My work situation has recently changedand I have no time to work on it and enjoy the truck so it time for some oneelse to enjoy it. I have plenty of pictures but Ebay would only allow me to post24 images, I have many more if needed. Here are the details and most of theparts that make it an overland vehicle, too much to list, might be forgetting afew things: V-6 4.5L Motor Front and Rear Locking Differentials Center Tires are 315/75R16 (35inch) Nitto terra Grappler all terrain tiresAxles have been re-geared to 4.88Front axels have been upgraded to Longfieldshafts. Watch a Toyota Highlander ram a house, twice

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

Toyota has had plenty of problems in recent years due to claims of unintended acceleration, and now here's a video that actually catches such a claim on video. The driver of this 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander claims that the crossover's accelerator got stuck causing the vehicle to slam into the house twice, and resulting in damage to the Highlander, the house and two vehicles inside the garage. While we don't know when this accident took place, the video was uploaded to YouTube back in January.
It is impossible to determine what actually happened in this video, but what we do know is that a security camera captures the Highlander slowly pulling into the driveway before it lunges forward slamming into the garage. With the tires squealing and metal crunching, the driver then shifts between reverse and drive a couple times causing even more property damage before spinning out in the street and finally being able to shift into Park. Scroll down to see the video for yourself. Whether unintended acceleration or driver error, this was undoubtedly a harrowing ordeal.

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).

Toyota recalling 1.9M Prius models globally for software update

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

Toyota has announced a set of voluntary recalls covering 960,000 Prius, RAV4, Tacoma and Lexus RX350 models in the United States to address two separate issues. Worldwide, Toyota will have to recall a total of 1.9 million Prius cars.
The Prius recall affects about 700,000 2010-2014 models in the US, due to a fault in the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU software. It says that the current software could result in high temperatures on certain transistors and possibly damage them. When it fails, the error forces the car into failsafe mode. Toyota says that in rare circumstances, it could even shut the hybrid system down while the car is being driven.
Toyota spokeswoman Shino Yamada told Automotive News that the software update should take about 40 minutes, and dealers would start to be notified about affected vehicles today. She also told them that the first reported glitch occurred in May 2011 in the US when the system overheated and the car entered failsafe mode. The affected cars were built between March 2009 and Feb. 5, 2014, according to Automotive News. Toyota says that it has received no reports of accidents or injuries caused by either fault.
