1989 Toyota Land Cruiser Fj62 4x4 - All Records - No Rust on 2040-cars
Charleston, South Carolina, United States
Here is the rundown. My girlfriend has wanted a 60 series since she was a child, about a few months ago that dream was becoming a reality. We searched for 3 months before deciding on this 1989. We had it fully inspected at a Toyota Dealer and it came back with a clean report and pulled the trigger and had it shipped here. It was a Georgia car since brand new, garage kept, and has a ton of records that reach very far back. Fast forward and the girl that lusted realizes she cant handle not having leather, IFS, sunroof etc. 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 275,000+ documented miles, original paint, engine and trans. Completely Rust Free - Literally 0 rust. Work we have done: Basically a freshen up. - Valve Adjustment, air filter, PCV valve, spark plugs, oil change, front and rear diff fluid, transfer case fluid, drain and fill on trans with filter replacement and kickdown adjustment. Immaculate service records down to oil changes, and more going back to 1990. Original bill of sales from dealer, factory car phone install agreement and tons of others. Rear main seal, front knucles, timing covers, oil changes, brakes, alternator etc etc etc. Major work done in the past 30,000 - Front knuckles fully rebuilt via Toyota dealer ($1497) -Starter, radiator($396), brake pads, timing cover seal, and more Receipts in the file from just the past 25,000 miles total= $9300 Cosmetics: Super clean inside and out. We looked at over 10 of these before deciding "Big Red" was the one. The paint appears to be all original with no signs of any prior accidents. It is the original Toyota Freeborn Red single stage paint. Body is completely rust free, and has no bondo or any other bodywork. All lines are straight. Chrome is in great shape as well as all glass and gaskets. Interior is in great shape with no major stains, and no odors. Carpet is in good shape with new all weather floor mats. Headliner is in excellent shape. Factory roof rack has no hidden rust and is in excellent shape. Undercarriage is clean and rust free. Mechanics: This FJ is ready for that long road trip, or to go camping. Starts right up with no hesitation or drama. No smoke or choking. Accelerates perfectly, and shifts through all gears nicely, and the kickdown works under heavy accel. All electronics work, including all gauges and interior and exterior lights. Power locks, power windows, wipers all work perfect. Truck has cold A/C and hot heat. Truck never overheats or has any issues on long highway drives, or sitting in stop and go traffic at 101 degree temps (We sat in beach traffic this weekend for 45 minutes enjoying the A/C and stereo). Brakes are strong and true. Powersteering makes no groans, and does not leak. As mentioned above the truck will leave a drop of oil in a driveway if sitting, but never requires topping off, it is minimal. New tires with less than 5,000 miles. Truck is very much "turnkey" or drive it home ready. Summary: The good- Very clean inside and out, immaculate service records, shifts smooth, can go 70+mph , cold A/C, tons of records, NO RUST, doesn't burn oil, never abused or offroaded, great stereo. The bad- A few dings here and there, typical 62 seat tear on drivers side but was quoted $120 to fix, will leave a dime size oil drop if sitting, left rear window is off track. (Car has been further detailed since pictured) We have more pictures and youtube videos of the truck driving and more available for serious buyers. We can assist buyer in shipping if they need. |

Toyota donates engineers, not money, to country's largest anti-hunger charity
Thu, 01 Aug 2013Key to production of any kind is efficiency - the ability to achieve maximum productivity with minimal effort or waste. Toyota has become a master of efficiency, with streamlined manufacturing operations around the world. In fact, the Japanese brand has become so well known for efficient operations that it now offers consulting services for organizations and companies outside the auto industry.
It also offers the same consulting for non-profits, free of charge. The New York Times took an in-depth look at the transformative impact that Toyota's engineers had on the city's charities, including The Food Bank, the country's largest anti-hunger charity. The auto manufacturer helped revolutionize the way these organizations served the community, showing that there's more to corporate philanthropy than just donating money.
Head on over to the Times' website and give the story a read.
Toyota fires bullets into hydrogen fuel tanks, shoots down EV supporters
Thu, Jan 16 2014Many gearheads will remember that the 1970s-era Dodge Dart's claim to fame was that its motor was so durable (though not necessarily powerful) that one could shoot bullets into the engine block. Decades later, Toyota has taken a page out of that testing process. "Personally, I don't care what Elon [Musk] says about fuel cells." With some industry members and analysts questioning both the viability and durability of hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles, Toyota executive Bob Carter, speaking at the Automotive News World Congress this week, says the Japanese automaker went all Clint Eastwood on the fuel tanks of a fuel-cell prototype. Carter says that bullets from a small-caliber gun bounced off the carbon-fiber tanks, and that .50-caliber bullets barely made dents. The shoot-out motif kept going when Carter name-checked executives from Tesla, Nissan and Volkswagen in saying that he didn't care if other automakers question the future of fuel-cell vehicles. As you can see in the prepared text of Carter's speech below, he said, "Personally, I don't care what Elon [Musk], Carlos [Ghosn] or Jonathan [Browning] say about fuel cells. If they want to 'plug in and tune out' other technologies, that's fine." After debuting it in Tokyo late last year, Toyota showed off its FCV fuel-cell concept vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show this week as it get ready to start sales "around 2015." The car has a 300-mile range and should be priced somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Autoblog drove Toyota's fuel-cell prototypes last year, and you can read our impressions here. 2014 Automotive News World Congress- Bob Carter January 14, 2014 As prepared for: Automotive News World Congress Tuesday, January 14, 2014 Bob Carter, Senior Vice President, Automotive Operations, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. _________________ Thanks, Keith and good afternoon everyone. You know, I've been in the car business for more than 30 years, but I'm more excited about it now than EVER before Why? Because for the first time in Toyota's history, we did something here we've NEVER done before. We shocked people by unveiling two great looking, fun-to-drive cars that blow a hole in the theory that Toyota only builds "appliances". Just yesterday, we unveiled Toyota's newest concept, the FT-1 sports car. I'm already getting people asking me when they can get their hands on one. The FT-1 represents the latest in our heritage of sports cars like the 2000GT, Celica, Supra and most recently, the FR-S.
