1988 Fj62 Toyota Land Cruiser *** Excellent Condition *** on 2040-cars
Covington, Louisiana, United States
condition. Originally a CA rig, it has been in Louisiana for about a year and only driven about 7 days a month. 184,788 original miles. It is garage kept every day and is an EXCELLENT survivor. The only rust on it is a few spots on the rear bumper where some dings have removed the chrome, but that is easily replaceable. I removed the seat cover of the drivers seat just for listing purposes only. The exterior is incredible and has no dents. It has extremely low miles and the car runs and drives like a low mile FJ 62 Land Cruiser should. I have maintenance records of the most recent care it has received before I purchased it. It has the original owners manual. The truck has had a thorough inspection by Toyota of Covington Louisiana where they specialize in FJ62s for this region. They are the GO TO SHOP for the Louisiana Land Krewesers Club. If you have ever wanted a pristine FJ 62, this is it. The interior is equally exceptional. No tears on the drivers seat or any seat and no foul odors. The seats have brand new covers from Specter Off road and was once owned by the owner so you know it was taken care of. Spector also installed the suspension lift, and info can be found at on their website. For some reason I can't post the link here but will email it to you if you ask for it. In fact, the truck in the photo on their page is the truck I am selling. It also has a new stereo and Kicker subwoofer in it. The AC is ice cold and the heat is hot. There are no shimmies rattles or shakes and the tires have plenty of life in them. Tires are Michelins and the rims are stock and very nice. Mechanically the car has been fully serviced. 170,000 miles All fluids changed Front and Rear Diffs Transfer Case Transmillion Coolant Heavy Duty Transmission Oil Cooler added 171,000 Coolant hoses replaced--ALL 172,000 Transmission rebuilt 174,000 New Suspension installed Tie Rod / Drag Link replaced 175,000 New Tires and Alignment 33 in BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN (nipples still on tires) Less than 10,000 miles on new tires. 177,000 Full Tune Up Spark Plugs replaced Plug Wires replaced Dist Cap replaced Rotor replaced New POV valve Valve Clearance Adjustment 177,811 Transmission Fluid / Filter Replaced 181,181 Oil Change with Filter change CASTROL GTX 20W50 used only. The undercarriage is as good as the topside and there are no leaks of any kind. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere. I have a very fair number in mind for the car so feel free to contact. It is listed locally so I reserve the right to sell it locally before bidding ends. They don't get much better than this without some serious investment. I am selling it because with a new family, I just don't have the time to enjoy it like I should. Add up the cost of the tires, new suspension, seat covers and front brush guard and you're looking at well over $4000 alone. Add the peace of mind from the 100% checkup from the Toyota Maintenance Dept, and you've got a solid rig. I'm happy to send more pics or a video if you need. Thanks |

1967 Toyota 2000GT most expensive Asian car ever sold at $1.2M
Fri, 10 May 2013Toyota's agelessly beautiful 2000GT has been sold by RM Auctions for $1.16 million, making it the new record holder for the most expensive Asian car ever sold. As always, rarity played a big factory in driving up the price; just 351 2000GT models were built, and only 62 left-hand-drive cars (like this one). The classic Toyota, standout member of Texas car-collector Don Davies' paddock, was originally a US-delivery car that spent time in a collection back in a Japan before returning to Texas just a short time ago. The car last sold in March of 2011, for just $650,000.
Enthusiasts will recognize the 2000GT as perhaps the most heralded Japanese classic of all time. The Toyota was a contemporary of the Jaguar E-Type - though one that obviously sold in a fraction of the English car's numbers - that was well reviewed by the motoring press of the day. Sometimes referred to as Japan's first supercar, the 2000GT boasted a 150-horsepower, dual overhead cam, 2.0-liter straight-six engine; a five-speed manual transmission; and a reported top speed of over 135 miles per hour.
RM described this record-setting example as, "the finest and most authentic 2000GT to come to market in recent years," equating it with blue chip classic exotics like the Ferrari Daytona and Lamborghini Miura.
Recharge Wrap-up: Nissan Leaf top environmental performer, 50,000th Renault Zoe
Thu, Apr 21 2016Renault has produced its 50,000th Zoe electric car. A Frenchwoman named Sylvie took ownership of the milestone vehicle at the Flins plant where it rolled of the line. She says her children helped convince her to buy the all-electric vehicle, which Sylvie intends to use as a daily driver. The Renault Zoe is Europe's best selling EV since its launch in 2013. Renault reports a 98-percent satisfaction rate with the Zoe. Read more in the press release from Renault. Toyota will use a biosynthetic rubber called biohydrin in its engine and drive system hoses beginning in May 2016. Jointly developed by Toyota, biohydrin is a plant-based rubber with a 20-percent reduction in material lifecycle carbon emissions compared to petroleum-based rubber. Toyota plans to use the compound in even more components in the future, including brake and fuel line hoses. Read more from Toyota. So far in 2016, only 27.5 percent of hybrids and EVs are traded in for another electrified vehicle, according to Edmunds. That's down from 38.5 percent in 2015. 33.8 percent of electrified vehicles are traded in for SUVs. Despite the trend of EV and hybrid owners switching back to traditionally powered vehicles, average fuel economy isn't suffering. "This is an economics trend, since today's low cost of gas no longer makes it worth paying the price premium of hybrids and EVs," says Edmunds Director of Industry Analysis Jessica Caldwell. "And there are so many fuel-efficient vehicles on the market today that environmental concerns weigh less than they might have in years past. When you're buying a vehicle that can get over 30 mpg, you can still say you're doing your part to help the environment." Read more from Edmunds. Environmentally, electrified vehicles outperform their conventional combustion counterparts throughout their lifecycle. A study from the Automotive Science Group (ASG) finds that while production of advanced powertrains comes with a greater financial burden, most vehicles make up for it through efficiencies during their use phase. The ASG lists the 2016 Nissan Leaf as its best performer, with 47 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than the best-performing conventionally powered car, the Honda Fit. Rounding out the ASG's top five environmental performers are the Ford Focus Electric, Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius Two Eco, and Hyundai Sonata Plug-In Hybrid.
Construction of Lexus' first US assembly line underway
Thu, 09 Jan 2014The ES is Lexus' top-selling sedan, but the Japanese luxury marque has never manufactured it outside of Japan. In fact, Lexus has never made any cars in the United States, one of its largest markets worldwide. But that's about to change.
Yesterday, construction began in Georgetown, Kentucky, on the first Lexus assembly line in America, the first concrete (or steel) step in a $360-million expansion of Toyota's plant in the Bluegrass state that will create 750 new jobs. The expansion was announced last April by chief executive Akio Toyoda at the New York Auto Show.
Once the new assembly line gets online in the fall of next year, Toyota plans on building some 50,000 units of the ES each year. Lexus sold a record 72,581 examples of the ES in the United States last year - 30 percent more than the previous year - so Lexus will either have to import some more from overseas or leave some buyers disappointed.
